The branding brought me in, and the food will bring me back. Dang offers an ultramodern vibe both on their slick website and inside the cute restaurant. We tried out one item from each section: a bowl, a taco and a sandwich. It was all good, but the "Loin King" sandwich was a cut above the rest. An incredibly creative combination of flavors that led to a startlingly fresh pallet adventure. The sandwich was the only thing that blew me away, but all of the food was worth coming back for if you're in the area.

Dang...it was so hard to choose one item! Wanted Bahn mi but saw the red curry and had to go that route. So much chicken and the flavor of the curry was pungent and yummy. Great interior and service. The food does take a minute to come out to you. Walk up counter to order and they bring it to you and clean up after you. Gotta try their poke bowls next.

The new menu is phenomenal! We split the Vegetarian Pulled Pork Taco made with jackfruit which was very good and not like anything I had had before. We also had the Thai Basil Fried Rice with chicken and white rice which was a huge and very flavorful. The Thai basil was fresh on the stem and you could add it to taste and the red peppers in it were very sweet a sign that it was fresh and very high quality. The last thing that we had was the Diver that was very balanced and had a ton of tuna. The bang for your buck here is almost nuclear and the sate sauce changed my life!

Their new menu is great. I've had the tuna sandwich (diver), it was pretty good, but the pork and honeycrisp apple sandwich (the lion king) was phenomenal, and I love their red curry (a bit more of a coconut curry than most red curry but amazing). The staff is also very friendly, there's rarely a long line, and the decor is on point if you like bright colors. This isn't your traditional bhan mi stop but is great fusion food.

My family and I were invited to attend the "soft opening" a few days prior to their official opening on July 21st. Wow! Great food! The signature sandwiches are fantastic! Fresh ingredients, and absolutely delicious. The Spring Rolls are fresh and tasty and could be a meal in themselves. A real treat was the Vietnamese coffee at the end of the meal. The staff, though extremely busy, were very friendly and efficient. I wish Dave and his partners every success for this wonderful little eatery.

Michael, the owner, has put careful thought into ensuring this is an amazing experience. Recipes are authentic and generations old. Resulting food is deep with flavor and made from quality ingredients. Prices can't be beat, facility is very clean, and staff makes you feel appreciated. (Thanks Jacob!) My favorite is the lemongrass tofu banh mi with fried egg. And of course the Vietnamese coffee. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! :)

A little slow for a quick lunch, but they made up for it with absolutely delicious and fresh ingredients. It's hard to order at places sometimes because of my diet, but their substitutes offered made it simple. The Brussels Sprouts were Amazing! The restaurant was very clean and inviting.

This was our first visit here and we probably never would have discovered it if it wasn't for a free entree coupon floating around Facebook. The place itself is small but it has cute decor - I really liked the lighting hanging from the ceiling. The seats were clean and colorful, comfortable enough. The staff was extremely friendly and this is always a big hit with me. This place is what I would refer to as a hidden gem. The menu is not huge but the quality of the food here was amazing! We started out with their brussel sprouts as an appetizer. There is no description of what exactly the dish has - besides brussel sprouts - so we did not know exactly what to expect. When they served this to us, we dug right on in. They halved the sprouts and fried them, with this dark yummy sauce -that was a bit spicey - on it. I am not sure what the sauce was but I can tell you this.... IT WAS A M A Z I N G! We are not exactly huge brussel sprouts fans, we like them enough - but usually not something we order. We are soo glad we ordered this dish and I would suggest you try this also when you visit! My daughter ordered the Noodle Salad with pork loin, which is what I would call a Vermicelli bowl. As expected, the portion was huge as is most places who serve this dish. The freshness of the ingredients was superb and she was very happy. They did not skimp on the meat at all, the noodles were perfectly cooked and overall this dish is definitely recommended. My husband was a bit hungry so he ordered The Belly taco, on corn tortilla, and The Octavia sandwich. When I heard him noiseily chomping and on the verge of drooling - I knew he loved it. The Belly taco comes with Pork belly which was heavenly and The Octavia was their version of a Shrimp Po' boy served with house made chips. The bread was fresh, the shrimp rather large and high quality and the ingredients on the sandwich top notch. I ordered a couple of tacos on corn tortillas. I had The Boss, which has pork loin on it and the Prawnto which has your choice of fried or grilled shrimp, I chose grilled. I was very happy with both of these tacos. Both are served with this delicious chimichurri sauce that has a hint of mint, but not overpowering in the least. The pickled onion was perfect and when you take a bite that has all the ingredients together - its heaven. There are a few sauces to try, one of which I could not find a name for but it tasted like it had peanuts in it and something spicy - and was a bit thicker than a typical sauce, more a relish of some kind. This was interesting, but not bad - I liked it for sure. The Hoisin sauce was better than most I have had at other places, and I wanted to eat it with a spoon. The Dang sauce - well this should come with a warning sign - it is VERY VERY VERY hot. The flavors exploded in my mouth - but then the heat came and I could not do any more. But if you like spicy hot food, try this - it has a really good flavor profile to it. If you pass by this place, hidden in a shopping center off of Burnet next to Research in North Austin - STOP AND EAT THERE! The prices are decent, the ingredients fresh and high quality, and the staff/service was awesome. Highly recommended to try this place!

Took a few friends to Dang Banh Mi after it's opening a few weeks ago. We decided to go all-out and tried an assortment of dishes from their menu. We ordered the Dang Original, Lemongrass Beef, and Char Siu Chicken. Consensus was the beef was the best, but the pork was a close second. We really wanted to try the Ox Tail, but we were told it sells out by lunch. As for other items on the menu, the Pho was so so and the Bún Noodle Bowl was ok. Their specialty definitely is the Banh Mi. The service was very helpful. They provided extra bowls so we could share (even though sharing really isn't ideal). Prices were reasonable. The interior space is very modern and trendy. There are woven baskets hanging from the ceiling, which have been retrofitted as lighting. Ordering is done at the front and you are provided a number. You may choose your own table. Very casual dining.

The first time I visited Dang Banh Mi, I was impress at the size of the sandwich and how good it was. On my second visit I order the sandwich, Som Tam, and Spring rolls. I continue to order different items on the menu and continue to enjoy the food. The price is fair and the service has always been good.

I tried this place out as I'm always on the search for a good banh mi shop in Austin. Houston rivals us with the best variety and quantity but I'm determined to find something great here! Dang Banh Mi hit the spot- although it's not traditional banh mi, it was delicious. The addition of the egg was perfect and I loved the secret sauce that I drizzled all over my sandwich. I'm eager to go back and try some of their fancier sandwiches like the Oxtail for round 2. Overall, delicious food, great coffee press, and I love the wood piece on the wall.

So this was my first time here and I had a coupon for a free bahn mi, so I decided free is the best way to try a new place out. I had the Char Sui Chicken Bahn Mi sans white onions, a lemongrass tofu spring roll, and an iced Vietnamese coffee. The Char Sui Chicken Bahn Mi was absolutely fantastic! A bit on the pricey side @$6.50, but so fresh, flavorful you can justify the price tag. I wasn't that impressed w/the spring roll, but the peanut sauce was delicious and the tofu was well cooked, but for $2.50 for one roll, I probably will not be doing that again. Their iced Vietnamese Coffee was very good, but $3 for what was prolly the equivalent of a tall @Starbucks was again a little on the pricey side for the product. But, I will def be back for the Char Sui Chicken Bahn Mi! The service was super quick, nice, and easy. The seating is plentiful and decor on par. I even threw some of their hoison sauce on my bahn mi for funsies and it was delish! Also, they have parking spots directly in front especially designated for to-go orders, so I will be sure to take advantage on subsequent visits!

Love all the tacos. Vietnamese coffee is tops. The only suggestion I'd make is to change the sandwich rolls from New Orleans style to crispy french roll, especially for the sandwiches that are more closely take offs on Vietnamese bahn mi, where the expectation is for just that...after all the latter is already a fusion of French and SE Asian food...one too many fusions IMHO.

I went in to purposefully try the Oxtail banh mi, and it was delicious. You can add a fried egg to it to give the beef a little extra flavor, but on it's own, the sandwich tastes fantastic. Also, any place that sells shrimp chips is a winner in my book. There are probably several cheaper places not too far from here, but that oxtail tho....
