We came in for lunch and I had the Chimichanga. It was HUGE and cheesy... Very good too! My daughter had breakfast and said it was tasty too. And .. the portions are large enough that she has a to go box!

Food was delicious! Kids love the queso. Good margaritas, not too sweet or sour. Beef fajita has good flavor and was soft and tender. Will be back.

Possibly the best Tex-Mex restaurant we have visited in years. Fresh food, great taste, waitress was amazing. We visited on a Wednesday and they had a live band. The patrons started dancing and we joined in. Such a great time!

We had 10 people in our party and were seated right away. The food portions were unexpectedly big and delicious. Unlimited chips and salsa were a plus and kept the kids happy while waiting for our food. Even their margaritas were to our liking....with a kick. So glad we found this place and will go back again. We didn't take photos of all the plates, but here are two.

It is easy to step into a this bright, welcoming Mexican food spot. We first noticed a few familiar faces at the bar, hinting at a loyal customer base. We were curious at the lack of patrons on a Friday? Yet, we before we could even ponder the thought, the aroma of fresh food fills the air. Incredible cheese quesadillas, pure delight! Ruben, our server, shined bright with impeccable service. Come check these guys out. We will certainly be back.

Hell yeah. Excellent Mexican joint in south Austin. Service was great, the area is large and spacious with an inside and outside area. Full bar, breakfast till 3pm, and daily specials. The Guisada was delish, chips are really good, and frijol was 🤌.
The salsa with the chips is okay, the green salsa they sell for $2 ain't worth it, and the corn tortillas are from the michocana, not homemade. 4 stars for that but forreal, go check this out.

Great food and great service. The staff was very friendly. They may have been a little slow but the restaurant was pretty busy and it was lunch time so we understood. My friend had the BBQ brisket enchiladas and said that they were the best enchiladas she had ever had. The chips and salsa were so good! I really liked that they projected basketball games. I would definitely come back! Excellent Mexican food and pancakes! (;

The food was amazing. One of the best Mexican restaurants out there, the price is not bad for food, and the service is very good. Plz come here you will love it.

From the moment I walked in the door, Chrissy greeted me and seated me at a booth. Then Robert provided the best service that I've received in years. The food is excellent!! Aja is a wonderful bartender and I absolutely love this place. All around wonderful dining experience with excellent food.

Fajita Quesadilla is my go to plate, but its ridiculous that they have a To-Go fee.
Could be up to $5
It's either that or tip, because I ain't doing both.
Paid $16 for the Quesadilla alone, no drink! Not worth the penny but it's what's near by my job for a quick bite.

Food was a little different than I'm used to it requires getting used too, I don't eat here that often . The service was great ,the atmosphere was awesome . Also a little to pricey for me . But we did enjoy ourselves..

The food was AMAZING! Very quiet and not busy when we went. Chips & salsa were so good. Clean and great service!

Love the chips here. Great breakfast served till 3. The guisada migas is a good choice. The service was good because the front of house and our server worked well together to make sure we had everything when we needed it. Kudos to the teamwork.
Looks like a nice place to host a dine-in party or get together. Plenty of space and separate areas to accomodate.
Small outside area for seating and plenty of parking.

Amazing margaritas with real lime juice. Super good queso. I haven’t ever seen this place cause it’s tucked away in the corner of the shopping center but I’m glad I stopped by. Waitress and host were very nice and pleasant. Small Rita was 6.5$ and pint glass Rita was 9.5$ which is not bad at all for it being good ingredients. Very neat inside I thought I was in Arizona lol. I liked it. Chips are very good. Good chips.

I went there tonight for the first time since it re-opened as DK Maria's - wanted to give the place some time to make adjustments, etc. I was really disappointed and am not crazy about the changes with regard to specials and menu items. I had a puffy taco and it was one of the worst things I've ever had there or anywhere for that matter. It was cold and while I get that it is a bit like a taco salad, so should not be piping hot, I expected at least the food temperature of a beef taco. There was tons of shredded iceberg lettuce and somewhere at the bottom a blob of cold ground beef. I'm also bummed to learn that Wine Wednesdays are gone. That was the night my husband and I liked to go in the past to relax and drink our favorite wines while Rebecca did her thing at the bar. The wait staff was obviously still going through "growing pains" and no one seemed to know what they should be doing. I really am not a complainer and usually try not to, but considering what the place used to be and what my experience was tonight, I had to say something. Not sure if I'll be back or not - maybe just to the bar for a drink when Rebecca is there.

Everything seemed normal upon getting to our table. The waiter took our drink orders, everyone was expecting a good ol' fashoioned, smoother than freshly spooned sour cream Tex-Mex experience. 45 minutes later when the drinks still hadn't arrived, it became obvious we were experiencing some extraordinary, legendary even.
I personally had ordered a 24 oz beer (because I'm classy). And thinking it's a busy Friday and I'm there with a large party, I'd like to ensure a steady stream of alcohol into my bloodstream. No dice, it took a full hour to get my XX. My wife went to speak with management. Whole lotta good that didn't do...
Another hour later, the food arrives. How bout silverware? We were able to rustle up our own (after 2+ hours we were getting pretty familiar with the place). By this point everyone is at their wits end, young children included. Spoke with management, again the 1,000 yard stare...
Did she not care or just not want to salvage our dining experience? The world will never know, nor care.
You might care though, because this was proof positive that bad service can screw up good Tex-Mex. The food was pretty damn good.

I went to this restaurant for the first time with my family Friday evening around 7pm. The service was terribly slow but that was not even the issue. We had ordered drinks and it took a good 30 minutes to get them. Still this was not the issue that night. We got queso and fajitas, my daughter got a burger and the food was all delicious. The food took a good hour to get out to us, still not the issue. We ate dinner and ordered another round of drinks knowing that it would probably be another 30 minutes before we got those to the table. It was. I got a mango daiquiri and my boyfriend got a Mexican martini. The daiquiri had full chunks of ice in it and opening the top to the martini you couldn't even see the liquid in the glass. We asked the server to have the bartender please fix the drink because it looked a little empty. She brought the drink back to us and the person making the drink obviously just added ice to the top of the glass. My boyfriend poured his drink and then emptied the shaker into the martini glass a second time. Then the drink was gone. We have had Mexican martinis before at any other restaurant and have always gotten at least 3 glasses out of it. We asked to speak to the manager and she was very rude and was very offended that we had voiced our dissatisfaction. She said she made the drink herself and followed the recipe. She then said if we would have let the ice melt it would have made the third glass. She said there was nothing she could do for us and offered nothing to help satisfy the situation. I was always told that the customer is always right even if you do not agree with their complaint. I think the manager may need further training in customer service.

Really good food, really good live music, lots of dancing! Wednesday nights at 7 to 9pm
Highly recommend the beef fajitas!

Every place has room for improvement...but we have been there 6 times and food is awesome. Wait staff is iffy....some good, some not good.
We try to get the same person....
Try again if you had a bad experience. We love the chops & salsa

Need to work out the kinks. Will try again, but not a great replacement for Tres Amigos... yet. A really good Taco Salad is a must for me and it was a disappointment- stringy, undercooked beef fajita meat with no flavor and lots of bad pieces of lettuce. My husband and son had enchiladas that they liked, but weren’t anything “special”. We ordered, but never received an order of queso, so not sure how it is. Really hoping that it improves with some practice. Our neighborhood needs a new Mexican restaurant with great food and atmosphere!

I'm not quite sure why they're "legendary", perhaps it's wishful thinking. I went hoping to enjoy a good meal at a new restaurant relatively close to where I live. However, my first visit will be my last visit. I ordered the Enchiladas "SP" Espuelas. The cheese sauce was tasteless and watery. The cubed brisket inside the enchilada was unspectacular and tasted like it had been boiled. The rice and beans were typical fare. Nothing special, at all. My margarita was perhaps the worst I've ever had anywhere. So bad I couldn't finish it. One star is a generous rating.

Flavor wasn’t great and the chips where awful. Tired it as a new place and don’t recommend it.

Amazing! My server Janice was exceptional and the food was sooo good! You have to try the Queso Roberto. Delicious! The puffy taco was perfect and the cheese enchiladas were awesome!

My wife and I went on Wednesday " mariachi night" we got there at 6pm. First surprise was there was no happy hour, we order the Queso which was marked as the best in the world it was cold and thick. We order the fajita nachos there was hardly any meat on them. The margarita was good, not great. Sometimes it takes a new restaurant time to get going, we will be back. The Mariachis were in one corner the whole time we were there. Not restaurant fault, that happens everywhere.

The drinks were fabulous and the food was good! I would definitely return and recommend as well!!!

Love doing the burrito challenge!!! I will definitely be back, the food and staff are great!

Went to try out for the first time tonight. Took 30 minutes to get our drinks. The Mexican martinis were too sour and tart we couldn't drink them..Asked the waitress to remake. The second round was not any better. There was too much ice. No martini glasses and gave us a short cocktail glass and the shaker didn't even fill the glass. The rest was all ice. 3 of us and only 1 food order was right. The waitress didn't seem very sympathetic and didn't apologize when she brought out the correct dinners. Very disappointed all the way around. Will not be going back

Waitress handrolled two flour tortillas cuz their tortilla press broken. What else is there to say? Homemade flour *and* corn tortillas--okay, I can add that.
Alright, here's more: Texas drum in fish tacos (and not nasty tilapia from China)? Yummy charro beans? Oh, and the band singing Buck Owens/Beatles/Johhny Cash medleys? People with your 3 star or less reviews complaining how you miss Tres Amigos: go across the street to Taco Cabana. Your palette is more suited to that place. 😆
