Surprised by the delicious eats at this hole-in-the-wall gem. The name says it all with a relatively limited menu of soups, salads, and sandwiches. However, even my picky eaters found something they loved! The sandwich was a surprise to be open-faced, but it was amazing! The layer of gruyere, shredded turkey, and toasted bread was divine! Limited seating for maybe 30 or so total, but cozy without feeling as cramped as we thought it would when we first opened the front door.
How have I lived in this area 11+ years and never once been to Soups On?
Went with my best friend a couple weeks ago being that we try to sample different restaurants at least once up to twice per month.
The main reason I was interested in this establishment was the French Onion Soup.
Parking was very convenient. When you reach Maryland Ave and Preston Street. Make a left and there is a large public parking lot. The rates were very affordable, $2 per hour. Cash or card accepted which is a rarity for paid parking in Baltimore City. The walk back to Soups On is very short, probably less than the length of an entire city block.
Inside the atmosphere is very rustic. There's a few stairs one must maneuver so if you have mobility issues please be sure to bring a friend or ask someone for assistance.
There's a window at top of stairs where you place your order. The menu changes daily and is listed on a chalkboard next to the window. The offerings are soup and sandwiches. Beverages are in a upright cooler where you can choose your own,
Together we ordered 1 cream of seafood soup, 1 French Onion Soup and a cuban sandwich cut in half so we could share as appetizer.
The price was extremely affordable. Along with our 2 beverages the total check was around $22!! There are 3 sizes of soup, small, medium and large. We both opted for medium size.
There's a ultra quaint sitting area to the front of the establishment which has large windows facing Preston Street. There is also additional tables and seating up above that by use of a long set of stairs.
The food was absolutely delicious. The sandwich was perfect and the bread was delicious. Both of our Soups exceeded our expectations, Very fresh and tasty!
Even the bathroom was awesome. Super rustic and spotlessly clean!!!
We plan to return again because we liked everything about the experience very much.
Such a cute shop and friendly atmosphere. I met the owner a year or so ago and stopped by to check out the shop. I quickly fell in love, and I’m not alone! Everyone at my work loves coming here for their lunch break! The menu changes and there’s a good variety of soups and sandwiches. I typically get a combo soup/sand but love to grab just a pint of soup on some occasions and there is a “pint club”! Definitely a great, local place to check out in Baltimore.
This is the best sandwich shop I’ve been to in the state! I got the French onion soup with the roasted turkey sandwich and it was incredible! The sandwich had a beautiful rosemary Mayo. The soup was divine. My friends got the cream of crab soup which was also delicious. I’m looking forward to trying everything on the menu
I love this place and often recommend it as a place to pick up lunch or meet for work lunches / lunches with friends. Great variety and options for different diets. Soup, salad, and sandwiches can't go wrong. I love the house salad and get it every time I go.
The tables are beautifully painted in all different ways. Space is a bit tight for seating but I like that because it feels homey and welcoming to me. Lots of stairs to get in, out, and around so not accessible in that way.
The ambience of this restaurant is perfect for enjoying a warm bowl of soup or eating a sandwich. The tables are painted beautifully and are each unique to a different theme. There is upstairs seating in a sort of cozy little corner. I tried both the Maryland Crab soup and the sweet potato and maple syrup soups. Both were great and full of flavor. I wanted to try the sweet potato and maple because I was curious if it would satisfy as a meal time soup, and it definitely did! I thought it would be overly sweet, but it was just the right amount of sweet and savory.
My photos aren’t the best, but I’ll definitely go back and update my photos!
Just ate here (portobello sandwich) for the first time after many word of mouth suggestions of awesomeness.
I can say I was super impressed with the taste and preparation. Staff was special. You know when a business is hyper genuine, and they love what they do? That is right here. Yep, it's a Baltimore gem :)
Come and eat something!
This place always has delicious soups and sandwiches! It’s definitely a hole-in-the-wall kind of nugget in Baltimore, but I’ve never come here and not liked what I got. They even have frozen soups if you’d like to purchase them and heat for later :)
One of the best sandwiches I've had in Baltimore. Amazing service, and prices you cannot beat - don't miss this place!
Great value (prices are good, not tax added, no tips accepted), nice variety (I got a cold, healthy soup on a hot summer day today), friendly folks. They also have sandwiches and a soup/salad combo.
If you're looking for a Panera Bread style soup and salad place, this may not the place for you. You won't find your basic broccoli cheddar soup here, but what you will find is an absolute gem of a soup place. The owner was phenomenal. So attentive and provided lots of recommendations. The soups and sandwiches were all so unique and fresh. I had a Korean chicken soup and pork strawberry sandwhich, and both were delicious. There were many vegan and vegetarian options available. I loved the whole atmosphere of this place. It doesn't look like much, but I highly recommend this place for lunch!
Cute lil soup and sandwich shop we went to after arriving at Penn Station. I had potato corn chili chowder - delicious!
I’ve been a fan of Soup’s On since they opened back in 2008. They never disappoint. A rotating menu of soups offers a variety of different options daily, plus a handful of sandwiches. In 14 years I’ve yet to hit a dud. Fresh ingredients, creative combinations—all delicious and satisfying. My wife has a dairy allergy and she always has multiple options to choose from. You can salt each soup to your liking, which is another excellent touch. Service is fast. The staff is hard-working and efficient; the owners are devoted to their craft and incredibly friendly (come more than a few times and they’ll probably remember your name). A longtime Baltimore gem. Not to be missed!
Great rotating selection of soups and tasty sandwiches for a very good price. Friendly staff and nice rustic atmosphere
