I love a good dive bar. It's the kind of place that doesn't have many frills, but the drinks are cheap, and it's where the locals go.
I say that as someone who loves Fells Point, and lives at Broadway and Gough. Fells is where everyone goes. Out of towners, county folk, and Baltimore residents. It's great. But BAR had a guy with his record collection in the corner playing DJ in the corner. He wasn't paid to do it... He just does it because he is proud of his collection, and enjoys talking about it.
That's the kind of authenticity you find in a dive bar. That's what BAR is.
Little hole in the wall with just enough seats for 2 parties of people! Definitely a great place to get away from the main street of bars and want a little more relaxed setting. Had walked first in Max's and it was packed with no where to even move, so my girlfriend and I walked the block and found Bar. Definitely recommend!
I feel like I should give this place one star just because it's a dive bar and that's not a knock on them. It's just that type of spot. it's my type of spot. No frills nothing super cool. Just easy people drinking relaxing and not dealing with the whole bunch of BS. What got me was when I saw they had a 5 disc CD player. I knew I was home.
No frills, all fun. Proudly unpretentious. Limited but adequate drink selection. When you want Fells Point without tourists. Have Justine put on the punk music and you're in for a good night.
Who doesn't love a good dive bar?! Never hesitate to try a downstairs bar or one simply named Bar, usually the best stories happen!
Local/industry dive. Great bartenders, great patrons, not much else going for it. This is where you can avoid the crowds, but there's a reason the tourists don't come in.
Locals dive bar, don't come for fancy cocktails or drunken frat boys. Don't think about getting food although the 1970 microwave still works, the popcorn may be from the 80s. The tube tv doesn't work.
Great dive in fells. No food but you can bring your own. Love the music they play.
I used to tend bar here! Thanks for staying steady, Carol. A landmark and Fells Point history.
The place is an awesome dive/local bar... Must visit
