Absolutely delicious meal! We made a reservation for our Anniversary dinner while we were on our trip to Acadia. I loved the dark, elegant atmosphere of the place. Compared to much of the other restaurants in the area, it didn’t feel crowded at all. Our server was super helpful, but also gave us lots of space to enjoy our meal. The food was all absolutely delicious. The beef yakitori was so flavorful! The chicory salad was good, but the bacon dressing was a bit overwhelmingly sweet for me, still tasted good, just not my personal preference. The sage dumplings with rabbit confit was amazing, the rabbit was so tender. The scallops were cooked to perfection and my husband loved the trout. Although I think for both of us our favorite part of the meal was the bread. It was so puffy and sprinkled with salt and herbs on top. My dinner could have been made up of just that bread and I would have been happy. I highly recommend dinning here while in Bar Harbor!

The best dining experience in Bar Harbor! The food was really amazing. We had the quail and the oxtail as appetizers that were accompanied by tasty bread and butter. For the main dish we ordered the scallops. Absolutely delicious! We also shared the chocolate cake with the cardamom ice cream. Eric served us and did a wonderful job with food and trip suggestions ☺️

Great food with good service. Had the seafood pasta for my son (bad mussel that made me gag…no way it was closed and alive before cooking). Had the duck again this year and it was superb like last year. The duck is 5 stars as is the short rib that my wife had. The waiter seemed unphased by the mussel issue. He was not really good at catching cues either. That said, our waiter from the year before who is exceptional was there also so it varies. The cocktails are wonderful! I recommend everything here except the pasta.

My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary at the balance rock and were unsure of how the quality of the restaurant would be it exceeded our expectations our meals and service were exquisite. We started with the mussels which were so delicious they were small but very good seasoned well and had delicious prosciutto pieces in it. I ordered the steak loin with bearnaise sauce the sauce was light and the steak was cooked to perfection. My wife ordered the pea risotto which was very good too. They gave us a few snacks from the kitchen which is a really nice touch one of them was a smoked trout dip on a wonton. We are not huge trout fans and it was delicious! For dessert we got the layer cake with burnt honey ice cream, very good ! Definitely make reservations! Also the ambiance was great we sat out in the patio area which was nice and warm from the fire lamps they also provided blankets which was a nice cozy touch!

A Truly intimate and cozy tasting dinner with white-glove service and fine dining experience to boot. We thoroughly enjoyed our tasting menu with wine pairing as we overheard the ocean. This place is really the go-to point if you want to experience fine dining while on vacation at Bar Harbor. All our wines paired perfectly and the dishes complemented each other. Couple that with blanket service after sunset to keep us warm at the veranda and the calming light of the pool behind us added to the overall experience of the vacation. We will be back to this venue again... someday.

This was the best meal I had in Maine, and one of the best meals in my life. I am worried that many people will miss this place since it lies at the end of a secluded side street at the end of a main road, so unless you want to go here on purpose, you will not see it from the street and could easily go about your business never knowing its existence. I found this place by searching for ‘romantic restaurants’ while doing my vacation research, since this was going to be my one nice date night with my husband while we had a babysitter on vacation, and I am so glad we chose this place. I have never had a tasting menu- but it’s been on my bucket list for a long time. The menu, or Guidebook as they call it, is filled with small one line poems, riddles, and puns. I had a great time thinking about what would be on the next plate, and talked with our lovely server about this. We ordered some wine, but the server couldn't find it anywhere in the restaurant. We ordered a different bottle but she gave it to us for the price of the original one we requested- which was very nice of her. The presentation of each dish was breathtaking. Each choice of plate and bowl were carefully thought out. We had venison, scallops, prawns, truffles, duck, caviar, ice cream, and more. One after the other, more gorgeous and more complex. The decor of the restaurant was thoughtful and upscale but not intimidating. The bathroom was underneath the stairs- which sounds silly but was beautiful and roomy, with a gold duck faucet! Out back there is a fire pit that you can enjoy, with blankets if you get chilly. We sat out there with our coffee and met and spoke with some other vacationers and had a lovely time. The place manages to be very high end but not uninviting. It remains refined but not off-putting, which a lot of nicer places can be. You don’t get the imposter feeling dining here, but you do feel super pampered. I wish this place was close so I could visit again, and I wish I had enjoyed the bar on another night. Next time I am in Maine I will definitely be staying here!

We could only get in for dessert and cocktails. Richard and Siera treated us like royalty. The dessert was the best dessert I had in my life. The dessert chef made my dessert grain and starch free. It had tiny marshmallows on it. I haven't had marshmallows in 15 years since having to give up starch, gluten and grains. The cocktail was so beautiful and entertaining and delicious. Will definitely go back but this time we will make sure we attempt to make reservations in plenty of time. Thank you Richard, Sierra and the dessert Chef. This day was the best day of our entire vacation thanks to Richard.

Wow, I was beyond impressed, my expectations were surpassed in every way. If you’re looking for fine dinning, this is the best place on the island. There are a very limited number of tables, so reservations are a MUST! Book weeks or months in advance… seriosuly, do it. The pork ravioli and goat cheese starter was bursting with flavor. The seared duck was juicy and cooked to perfection, and the wagyu beef was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. Absolutely delicious!

The service was so-so. Lots of confusion when we walked in. The complementary bread was supposed to be just cooked. One was doughy and undercooked. The other was perfect. Other than that the food was perfect. Cocktails and wine were great. Very cute vista with outdoor seating overlooking the water.

Great place to grab a cocktail and a good meal. Spectacular views out to Frenchman Bay (if a cruise ship isnt sitting parked there) The wait staff is very knowledgeable about the always rotating local fare. Highly recommend.
