Being from out of town, I decided to try this place on the recommendation of a hotel worker from the hotel I was staying in a nearby small town. I am so glad I checked it out! It was a Sunday and I showed up at around 2:45p, about a quarter till closing time. I was greeted with a smile and promptly seated. My young waiter, Cameron, was friendly and outgoing, explained the menu from which I ordered breakfast. The food was fresh, hot, and excellent! I can’t say enough about the food, and or the service - both five stars in my books. If given the opportunity I will not hesitate to return. If you’re in the area give this place a try. You won’t regret it 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
What a surprise to find this cafe on our trip. I will definitely come back on our way through. We stopped for brunch I ordered the chicken soup which was wonderful full of tender chicken the flavor was perfect. It's like sitting in your own kitchen with a bowl of homemade soup. 10 stars!!
My husband ordered a breakfast skillet that was fabulous. He has never left food on his plate before today. The portion was very generous.
We will definitely be coming back on our next trip through.
The local residents are extremely lucky to have this fresh, very well made and delectable restaurant in there town.
The service was wonderful. They had a wonderful stout from Indianapolis called Count Nebula. I had with my dinner. Ordered the pulled pork sandwich, it was okay. Onion rings were good. My husband ordered the same thing and felt the same as I did. Kids liked their meals. Even their resident ghost Darnell made the lights flicker and turn on. Or was it the storm outside?????
If your looking for a hidden gem to visit in the great Hoosier state of Indiana you must make the trip to Big Four Café in Batesville. There were four of us and we each can’t wait to return. Cool aesthetic and great food!
We checked this place out last Saturday. It was our first time going here. The atmosphere, music, decor were all great. The waitresses were all super friendly even when our little girl started getting loud. The FOOD was 11/10 EXCEEDED Expectation! The lady with the blue hair I'm not sure if she was the owner or manager I didn't catch her name, but she was on top of everything running that place with pride & she was very sweet. We definitely will be making this our new to go place when visiting Batesville.

I'm editing my review. I originally gave 5 stars, loved the food, staff, and atmosphere but my last trip I had with my pregnant wife kinda made me mad. The owner I believe is the one that brought our food to us and ask me a question on why did I want a side of sour cream I said to stick it on my philly cheese steak. And I was called gross for doing so. Now for someone to say that to a customer is kinda rude, especially not even trying it first. There are multiple recipes that ad sour cream of some variety to this type of sandwich so calling me gross honestly made me mad the more I sat there and ate. My wife also thought it was quite uncalled for. I still love the food but just had to say something.
