Out of all the Italian we have tried so far here in Red Stick this one would have to be at the top if our list. Great atmosphere here. Buy the bread? Yes but worth it.
We had a five top on a weekend night for dinner fairly early. Service was not great as we had long waits and gaps while the server stood at adjacent tables with apparently deeper tip pocket regulars for ten minutes at a time. Not kidding.
Food was the best we have experienced which is where the rating comes from along with the ambiance.
Di Julio? Nope. Mon Juni? Nope. Still have not tried Nino or Geno.
I was on an overnight business trip and came for dinner. The experience was flawless. I was on a right schedule and I got in an out as quickly as I wanted. The food was honestly the best I've had in a while. MAKE SURE you get the bread. Possibly the best pre dinner bread I've ever had. I ordered the special. 9oz filet stuffed with seafood stuffing topped with smoked Gouda cheese and sautéed mushroom. It was heaven on a plate. The special side was asiago mashed potatoes. Everything was incredible. I highly recommend
THA BREADDDDDD!!! With roasted garlic!!! If I could eat here every week and I would never get fat, I would. Lovely atmosphere, great service, and heavenly food always.
They are not kidding when they say they have the best bread in baton rouge!!! I could live for days off that bread it's so delicious! And the portions for the meals are perfect. I finished my pasta dish and I felt perfectly full, but not stuffed. Definitely come here for a nice occasion
Love the food, atmosphere, and service. My God, the bread...
YUM!. Everything was delicious! All the staff was very kind and helpful.
Terrific Room Service. I'm staying at nearby hotel and just had marvelous chicken Marsala and house salad. Service was prompt and very friendly. Salad had chopped olives and excellent house creamy gorganzola dressing. Chicken was moist and tender with savory sauce that wasn't too heavy. Just what I wanted after a long day of meetings.
A small venue big on flavor, style and service. I sat at the bar and enjoyed the ahi salad, and outstanding Bombay Sapphire martini and good conversation with the bartender.
The restaurant and bar were quite and dim much to my liking
The ahi salad had a fusion dressing/sauce/marinade I could not identify, but enjoyed thoroughly.
I have found my new hand-out in Baton Rouge.
Chef Chance created an excellent vegan main course and dessert! Michael was a great waiter!!! Kudos to you both. What an excellent dining experience!
Always a fave for us. Love the lobster bisque and don't leave until you try the bread!
My husband and I went for the first time for our sixth wedding anniversary. We ordered the fried green tomatoes and half loaf of bread with garlic for an appetizer. They were both delicious. For our main dish, I ordered the shrimp and lobster cream which was so delicious and my husband was undecisive. The server "Rapheal" suggested several "specials" they had for the evening. Among those specials was one called the "Surf and Turf" that included a 9oz filet, lobster tail and mushroom mashed potatoes. My husband said the steak was cooked exactly to perfection but he didn't care for the mashed potatoes and the lobster was dry and over cooked.
After dinner our server brought us a free chocolate moouse for dessert, which was nice.
We enjoyed our dining Expirence, except my husband was shocked to find that the "special" he ordered was $70.00, which was higher than any entre on the menu. He felt a little dooped, also the name if huge entre wasn't on the ticket it just said "open food" or something like that, which made him feel even more scammed. :/
Get the seafood stuffed mushrooms ! The food here is pretty pricey , but on Tuesday nights, there are a few good drink specials which help out . I'd say, if you have a few extra dollars to spend, pass by the olive garden and stop at little village.
Great Experience. Had dinner at the Little Village this evening with my 2 daughters, their husbands & mine. They took me there for my birthday. We came from Metairie & Mandeville. Well worth the trip. It was so delicious. The waitress was very attentive, pleasant, and checked on us several times. She was a delight. The bread lives up to its advertisement. Every one raved about the food. The deserts were to die for.The atmosphere was very nice and everything was so clean. Would definitely go back & recommend it. Thank you for making it a memorable experience.
What a lunch!. The wife and I had lunch at downtown Little Village today. Had to have a loaf of that wonderful bread, but I couldn't believe the lunch specials. My wife had the Trout with lobster sauce and I had Tilapia covered with shrimp. It would have been an extremely nice evening meal, but being the lunch special, it was unbelievable. A fresh mixed salad, with a really unique Roquefort/Italian dressing, the great fish and a side of sugar snap peas for lunch prices is a real treat. Heck, a burger and fries costs as much as I paid for a great meal. The facility was very nice and the Fonville Winans photographic art on the walls is a fine touch. Service was great with a very friendly staff. What more can be said?
Brought a friend from Indianapolis to eat here tonight. Great food, awesome atmosphere & great service! Mario waited on us. He was very attentive, helpful & friendly. Highly recommend this amazing restaurant!

We had the pleasure of dining here last night to celebrate our 20 year wedding anniversary. I cannot say enough about our wonderful dining experience. From the first glass of wine to dessert it was the best meal I have ever had. Our incredible waitress, Brenna Burgett, suggested the Filet Palermo, and I have to say I have never had a steak that was this divine. It honestly melted in my mouth. A 9 oz filet cooked to perfection stuffed with seafood dressing and topped with roasted garlic, mushrooms, and a slice of Gouda cheese. Salads were awesome, the bread lived up to its reputation, and the bread pudding for dessert... I wish I hadn't shared with my hubby. Our service was great. Brenna was very helpful, attentive, and made our experience very special. We will be back.
Had the best Christmas eve meal last night. Great service in an awesome atmosphere - not to mention our entrees were excellent. I am still dreaming of the Seafood Medley today!!
Love Love Love!!! Great Food! Exceptional Service!!. The best customer service / restaurant experience that I've have EVER had!! I highly recommend little village!!
Village Bread ALL The WAY BaBy!!! Don't go without trying what their known for. Ignore the diet, INDULGE a Little! My personal fav, Seafood Pasta (not that premade stuff like Copeland's!) fresh lump crabmeat and shrimp!!!
Wonderful Date Night!. I wanted to commend your establishment for the awesome food and wonderful dining experience that my husband and I had on Friday night. We really like to take advantage of date nights when we have a babysitter, and this was great!
My company had our annual Christmas Party at the Little Village a couple of years ago, and the manager's service was very disappointing. I will say that the food and wait service was great, but the manager was not.
On a good note, I'm excited that we will host our 2011 party at the Little Village, and I love working with Laila...she's the best! The planning has been easy and she has one of the most pleasant attitudes of anyone I know...please keep her forever.
I knew that something had changed when my husband and I had dinner there a few months ago, and I called to find out it there was a new manager...so glad I called.
All of my co-workers are excited about this year's party, and so am I!
My husband and I have been served twice by Ryan Bergeron, and I have to say that he's the best server there is. He has the best personality and skills...please keep him! He deserves a promotion!
Well, I am a happy customer and looking forward to many more wonderful experiences.
Thanks,
Mrs. Tonya Williams
Had a great dinner there! The sever recommend the perfect bottle of wine, and the food was unbeleivable! I've been many places around the country and you cannot find a better meal!
Excellent lunch Friday. They have the best crab cakes! The bread is awsome. The server Ryan Bergeron is very knowledgeable & attentive as well as the whole staff. My new favorite place to eat. You got to try it !
Great Italina Food and bar. Love this place food is consistenetly good, reasonably priced and like having drinks at the bar! BN
Walking into the Little Village was a beautiful surprise, different atmosphere from the last location. Food was great, bread was fantastic. Service was also very attentive, and great! Loved everything about the Little Viillage, I will be back sooner than later!
Great Experience. My girlfriend and I recently ate at the little village and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. When we arrived we were greeted immediately by the hostess and led to a nice table in the corner of the restaurant. Our server, Jacob, greeted us with a nice smile and made several great recommendations for cocktails and appetizers. We started out with martinis and an oyster appetizer which was absolutely delicious! Our entrée's were no different, I went with our server's recommendation and had a seafood stuffed filet, my date, who is the world's biggest food critic, had the sea bass; she was extremely impressed. For dessert we had bread pudding, honestly.. if I had to choose a last meal, the bread pudding would definitely be included. The combination of great tasting food, excellent service, and a wonderful ambiance proved to be the perfect equation for a fantastic night out with someone special. I would highly recommend Little Village and cannot wait to return!
The food and the service was epic! I dream about the bread!
Little Village Downtown. I had heard people talk about THE BREAD from The Little Village but they should be talking about the entire menu !
My steak was cooked to perfection..... no need for a steak knife here and my boyfriends Chicken Parm was incredible. We made it to split a dessert ( the Bread Pudding) and I had to go back and order my own it was that good. The manager came to our table.... I LOVED the fact that she asked about our experience in this way.... Tell me what you LOVED about your visit this evening... you can tell she cares..... we will definitely return to The Little Village
Great time, great food. Had dinner this evening with my incoming LSU freshman daughter. She had eggplant parmesan, I had tilapia. Atmosphere was great, food was excellent and our waitress Bonnie was the best. Great place.
Great Italian food! Awesome atmosphere....! Excellent service! Highly recommend it!
Little Village, the downtown location as well as Airline Hwy, provide an excellent atmosphere and fantastic product to their customers. The stores consistently provide me with the most mouth watering "village bread" that I've found in the city. The food seems to vary in timing, but the quality has been excellent time after time and the staff is always very friendly.
Best all around. My wife and I had a once in a long time chance to go out together without the child (almost 1) and treat ourselves. We decided to go to The little village that is downtown. I enjoyed our time so much that I decided to write a little something nice about this restaurant but after reading some of the other reviews and the things that were said it seemed that maybe it was a fluke so I waited to try the place again.
Need less to say I got to go again and realized that it wasn't a fluke. This time I went with my extended family and we had a different server, I tried some different items on the menu and asked the fam to do the same. Everything was exceptional.
The place was packed, the food came out (it did take a little time, but its a nice place, I would hope they arent just throwing things on a plate for me) and all the items were correct and tasted great!! The fam chipped in on this one after i explained what I have read before.
Long of the short, food was excellent, service was proper and precise, drinks were reasonable (regarding quality and consistency) everything was exactly opposite to what a good bit of what I have read.
I hope that some people will do the same that I did and give this place some credit.
Little Village Downtown. WOW...had the best steak ever!! Went on Saturday night and did not have to have a reservation. THANK YOU for that. Ordered the filet and it was the best I ever had. The waiter RYAN was better than the steak. Thank you Little Village.

LITTLE VILLAGE GREAT HAPPY HOURS. I go to Little Village on Airline Highway on Monday's for happy hour and they have FIFTY cent Martini's the bartender Lyn is just great and I enjoyed the martinis plus oysters on the half shell that were so fresh and yummy. Great atmosphere lots of fun

GREAT STEAKS AND SEAFOOD. The best steaks and seafood and the bread is the best. Very busy so I tell my friends to make reservations. I love the main lobsters and I took my family there on a Sunday to the one on Airline and those lobsters were HUGE. Great place never dissapointed.
The Bread. Nothing more need be said.
Yum! Little Village never dissappoints! This time I had the lasagna, which had a hearty, tangy marinara. They have an extensive menu of rustic Italian favorites. The Village Bread is a must --covered in parmesean & roasted garlic with olive tapenade on the side. The servers never seem engaged with their customers, which is disappointing. Customers love Little Village, so you would think they'd hire waitstaff who love the restaurant, too.
NEW LOCATION DOWNTOWN. Not bad! The bread is clearly a treat worth having! My steak was prepared to my taste and the spaghetti had a rich red sauce. The new location is much larger, but the service could improve. The previous reviews stated service was lacking and impersonal. Our server wasn't too enthusiastic on offering any specials or recommendations off the menu. She just didn't seem she liked her job at all. Presentation is everything when you dine out!
I love the little village downtown, it's really good; however, we ate at the little village II tonight on airline... The appetizers and bread were great, but the entrees were terrible. I got the chicken Marsala and the sauce was way to thick and dark, almost like BBQ sauce, gross. Everyone else in our party had a red sauce, egg plant parm, chicken parm, and the seafood diavolo. The red sauces were even worse, tasted like they have been sitting in a pot for a week, almost a burnt taste, really really bad. The management never came to our table to ask how it was, I felt sorry for the server. Before I left I spoke to a manager, he shrugged it off and told me that some people just have different tastes. Really?! Who would ever say that to a customer?! Needless to say we will never go back to this location again. My advise, go to the one downtown.
I love the atmosphere. You definitely must order the bread. The oysters 2-2-2 weren't very good at all, but the Veal Parmesean was fantastic. I took a bite of my wife's lasagna which was also really good.
Best Italian in town. Semi-dressy restaurant- prices are a little higher than most. Good location and within walking distance to popular dowtown bars. Lots on the menu- choose wisely because the portions are large and filling!
The food was divine! It's a bit $$ for lunch but the Hubby and I had a great time. The ace downtown is a great place, the inside is cozy and inviting.
Awesome lunch. My staff and I went to Little Village at its Airline location for lunch a few weeks ago and we were very impressed. We got the Village Bread as an appetizer (absolute must have) and some of us got the daily special which was eggplant with seafood stuffing. I was really surprised with how good everything was and how pleasant the service staff was. I have read the other reviews and to tell you the truth, it sounds like they're being a little picky. Just relax and have a good time. Next time that I go there, I am definitely going to get the Village Bread, a salad and an appetizer because that's plenty.
Not quite what I expected.... My husband decided to surprise me on my Birthday. We dined at the Airline Hwy Location this past Sunday. He called ahead for reservations. Upon entering, we were greated by the Hostess and then walked all the way throught the empty dinning room to a table by the Kitchen. When my husband asked if we could possibly sit a little farther away from the kitchen, we were met with a cold stare from the hostess and then she walked off. So we just moved to another table on our own.
The waiter was very nice, but we got the feeling he was very NEW to waiting tables. That's o.k. you have to start somewhere. However, we had to ask for menu's, we had to ask for water, we had to ask about specials, ect....
The BREAD is outstanding! This is a MUST if you dine here. The Fried Ravioli was very good. My husbands steak was cooked to perfection, my pasta...... was o.k....... not great, not bad. just o.k. Yhe CHEESECAKE!!!! YUM! very very good. The waiter forgot to put in the little candle my husband brought from home for the Birthday suprise...... So my husband was a little disappointed. The custard was also a very nice.

This great upscale Italian restaurant in downtown is a rebirth of an old Baton Rouge favorite. It opened in recent years in downtown Bat
Fantastic Italian restaurant in downtown Baton Rouge and is actually a re-birth of an old favorite. Ok, for some background, story goes in 1945 Vince Distefano was running a card game and Vince’s wife would make tips cooking for the crowd. The sheriff, who would make unofficial visits to the card games, recommended they move out side the city limits. The family bought a 7 acre fishing camp from the Catholic Church and built a new place where they were “beyond the long arm of the law”. As the games grew, travelers would mistake the building for a restaurant. Vince decided might as well feed the hungry motorist and The Village was born. In 1964 he imported Goffredo Fraccaro from Genovese, Italy and soon after The Village became the standard of fine dinning in the capital city. The new owners

Today we had a going-away lunch for the Executive Director at work and we ordered some take out from The Little Village . The Little Village is a Baton Rouge original Italian-style restaurant with a lot to offer to casual and business diners alike. Their
