Not bad, but not special!! It's Pub food. I will say, we really enjoyed the London Chicken Salad (no blue cheese 😜). It was a great place for a Saturday afternoon meal.
We have had some hit and miss here. I think it really depends on who's cooking that day. But the food has been incredible to good. Fish and chips are a must. I wish they would bring back the cheese plate and the dips for the chips. The atmosphere is to die for.
Doesn't look like much on the outside. Stopped in for dinner while my daughter was at a school function at nearby Episcopal. One of the best Shepherd's pies I've ever had, and I've had them in England, Ireland, South Africa and Australia. The sauce tastes as if there was a red wine reduction. Plan on returning for another. Friendly service!!
Bartender suggested the Shepherd's Pie over the Bangers. Really enjoyed it. Good beer selection. Friendly staff. Good pub feel to the place. Not too many TVs. Pool table, dart board, Golden Tee, and a healthy Scotch & Irish whiskey selection. I'm going to be back to try the bangers. I wish I lived closer.
Have visited several times, love certain dishes.. My family has visited several times and we really enjoy the pulled pork and spicy slaw sandwiches. I will agree some reviewers that the food hasn't been consistent, sometimes the pork is dripping with sauce and is too messy to eat, other times there very little slaw, other times there is plenty. I'm not sure if we've experienced different kitchen staff or what. We experienced a hostess that was not nice at all but the wait staff has been excellent and very willing to fix any problems. Drinks have been inconsistent too but we visited a lot during the World Cup and they were very busy. I hope to see improvement in consistency because because I really love the Shepherd's Pie but the fish and chips are lacking flavor and are full of grease. I'm glad I didn't try that one first. It's good when you know what to order.
Surmising "The Londoner" in .... Surmising The Londoner in one word? That's easy: Flavor.
You can taste everything. The subtle flavor of the fish. The beer in the beer batter. The potatoes in the chips (french fries). They add just enough spices and herbs to accent what you're eating, not hide it.
They don't load everything up with salt and grease to the point you've forget what you're eating. And, the Toffee Pudding is worth the drive no matter what part of town you live in.
Our waitress, Victoria, was polite, very we'll-mannered and prompt.
I recommend The Londoner, highly.
The atmosphere alone is unlike anything else I've found in Baton Rouge. Great place to go any time of the day or night. The food does not disappoint. Fish & Chips is a staple item that is always good. Pork Sliders are flavorful. Shepherds Pie is pretty incredible as well. I've eaten here at least a handful of times and have yet to find something bad on the menu.
Always a pleasure. This place is close, open late, and affordable - so as a grad student, it's a natural habitat. The menu items are definitely different from what you'll find elsewhere in Baton Rouge, with a good mix of home comfort food and American pub favorites. The prices are good, getting a large burger on homemade sweet buns with a crock of creamy mac and cheese is under $10. I wouldn't say that the wait staff is the friendliest, but they always have prompt service and are hospitable. Prices are good and the beer selection is one of the better in Baton Rouge, with a good mix of British imports and Louisiana brews. Definitely a bar-like atmosphere and popular with locals.
Great selection. The food is hit or miss, but the selection of beers is awesome.
Interesting. No, the wait-staff isn't overly nice. It's a dark pub and cool hangout. I wasn't out alone and I don't expect waitresses to be my temporary new BFF, so it wasn't a big deal. Hubby had the Steak & Ale Pie. The more of it he ate, the more he liked it. We got the impression that if you like ale, you probably like it. I wasn't feeling adventurous and got the Steak Sandwich, because I figured it would be similar to a philly. Complaints: it seemed like there was only swiss on one side and it could have used more grilled onions and bell peppers. It tasted GREAT, but could have been even better with swiss evenly distributed and more onions and peppers.
From a 'Regular'. Firstly, everyone, let's remember: this place is not necessarily styled on your typical restaurant. It is styled on a typical PUB. As someone who spent twelve years in England and has thus frequented many a pub meal, I can tell you that pubs are more laid back. You would typically go to them for a lazy evening or weekend meal while you have drinks with friends or family. Of course, you're still entitled to good service, but just bear this in mind. :)
My trips to the Londoner are usually fueled by a wish to hang out with friends, with drinks, food and a game of pool, and I've always had a relaxing time. The atmosphere is laid-back, casual and fun. Food has always been good (apart from my very first visit, where I had a very unfortunate run-in with an Admiral's Pie that has since thankfully gone from the menu), hot and ample-portioned. Though I don't drink, it seems and I've been told that the variety of beers and ale is pretty good.
In terms of authenticity, of course you can't beat a real British pub since it doesn't have age behind it, but they do really well and you can tell they're gathering their decor and settling in. The food gets fairly close (apart from the sticky toffee pudding - which is still good), and I encourage everyone to try the loaded cheese fries and shepherd's pie, and the salsa for the chips and salsa is fantastic. I've also had the smoked salmon, caper and cream cheese omelet which was pretty good. For the record yes, they do offer hot tea. :)
For those interested: Pool has been around $6-$8 an hour and on occasion some of the cues and balls can be a little worse for wear, but granted, this isn't a pool hall - there are four tables upstairs along with two dart boards, a jukebox, fusball table and table shuffleboard. There are spots to sit outside and a balcony and additional bar upstairs (to bear in mind if you order food upstairs - the order has to be taken and has to come from downstairs!). Brunch on Sundays 10:30-3!
Love it. Have been here more than 10 times. Food is always good... we've tried it all. I love their salads and my husband always gets steak and ale pie...and i'd be lying if i said i didnt help him eat it. I was really suprised by their chips and salsa...but as they say, even the queen likes chips and salsa, and they're delicious. We have never had a server who was bad, they're more than willing to talk the menu with you. I'm reading through these reviews and i'm shocked to see bad ones. We had one potentially bad experience when they were overloaded w/ a party of 100...they told us up front when we came in that it might get interesting. we got our drinks and appetizers, then had to wait two hours for main course, our server was never far and always checking. As we were about to leave, they brought out the food (packed it to go)...gave us additional drinks, deserts...and charged us for nothing. Not sure how they could've fixed the situation any better than that. If you went and had a bad experience, go back!

Great food and atmosphere!. We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to the Londoner and long to go back. We tried a couple of different rounds of the beer samplers. Green mussel appetizer as well as cheese fries (all yummy!). The fish n chips were amazing! Everything is fresh, the fish was beautifully flaky and crispy. The dill tartar sauce was so good I could eat it with everything. Hubby got the steak and ale pie which was a big strong in flavor for me, but he enjoyed. I also tried the sheperd's pie which was also very tasty. For dessert we had the sticky toffee pudding and the fried bread pudding. all so good. great experience and anyone we've referred has said the same. cant wait to go back!
Weekly date night. Good replica of pub for the American market. They could have made the booths more intimate, but all and all Hubby and I love this place. Bangers and mash and even the steak ale pie are pretty good.Oh and the chicken on spinash is really some thing you should try if you don't like all the calories. We love the atmosphere and the waiters are really good. Was really impressed that they knew what a beer shandy was.
Favorite Restaraunt. This has quickly become my go to place. I love everything about it. Great service, delicious food, and the owners are friendly. They also have a great handle on social media. They run great events and are always communicating with their guests.
One night we tweeted that we felt the seasoning on the chips (fries) had changed. The owner came out and talked to us about it. He thanked us for our honest critique. I made sure to mention that it wasn't a complaint just wondering and that we love the food and really appreciated his trying to make sure everything was perfect.
Get some fish and chips and try the Chicken Tikka Masala!
Food is surprisingly delicious!
Tasty and friendly... pretty much always.. I love the Londoner. It isn't authentic... but who cares? It's fun and I've never had a problem with the waitstaff. They are fast and friendly. The food really isn't expensive, at least in comparison to similar restaurants in Baton Rouge. Everything I've had there has been either good or very very good, and I've tried about half of the menu, over time. Nice beer selection for sure, and staff are knowledgeable about them.
To everyone complaining about the volume... IT IS A BAR. Like The Chimes or similar restaurants, it is a bar, that serves food. It will be loud, with various sports games on. That is part of the experience.
Burgers + fish & chips. I always get the burger (which is one of my favorite in town), and my BF always gets the fish and chips. It's our go-to place when we want a lot of food that's really really good and an affordable price. Great addition to the BR restaurant scene!
Love the pub atmosphere at this place. The service was great & the food we order was very good. Definitely will go back when I come back to town.
Love the Menu. Their chicken and chips cannot be compared to any chicken tender in BR. They are delicious and I love the sauce that comes with it! The chicken sliders are pretty good too, and they will put different cheeses on each one if you ask. I am not a fan of ground meat or potatoes, but I once ordered the Shepard's pie. With a lot of Tabasco and black pepper, it was the exact warm homey dish I was in the mood for. Leftovers were even better the next day! I have also had the burger and the hummus and pita, and I have not been disappointed. We are not in London and I wouldn't compare it. It is just an entertaining theme and I am excited that we have the option of a different menu and atmosphere in BR.
Their sticky toffee pudding is the best dessert you will ever put in your mouth. The beer battered cod is also really good. Extensive beer selection.
Good food and beer. I've never been to London before, so I'm not writing about how authentic this place is. I will say that the food we ordered was very good. Started with some ales, then tried the fish and chips, which were very crispy and good. The "Famous" burger was pretty standard, as was expected. I had the chicken Tikki Masala, which is an Indian-English dish..I really liked it. It had a very good and unique taste.
The server was good and I plan on going back.
Pretty Decent.. My boyfriend and I decided to go The Londoner to finally eat last weekend, we've had drinks there before. This may just be nit picky, but the music was too loud and the booth was huge, my boyfriend is fairly tall and he had to scoot up to sit comfortably.
Our drinks took a while, but they had to change out a tap so no big deal. We got the chips and curry as an appetizer and I was not a fan. The chips had cinnamon dusted on them, which just threw me off. The curries were worse, the "hotter" one tasted like taco seasoning mixed with water.
I ordered the chicken and chips before we received the appetizer and then prayed it didn't have cinnamon, it didn't thankfully. The portion was HUGE, there were at least 4-5 chicken strips and they were delicious. My boyfriend got the steak and ale pie and he loved it. It came with white cheddar mashed potatoes and the steak was very tender.
Our waiter was very nice and fairly attentive. I would definitely go there again.

Not really English. Although it has a name suggesting a bit of UK atmosphere, this is pretty much a Baton Rouge fantasy. The food is just so-so, but the atmosphere is pleasant enough. Service is good and the selection of brews is excellent. One might inquire why I bother with such an imposter of a place like The Londoner. Well, if I mention that I love soccer football and enjoy hanging out with like minded fans, maybe you'll understand. I have enjoyed many games on the telly, nursing a pint of my favourite ale, stout or beer. When the place is packed with futbolistas all cheering in unison, it fits the bill for me. Join us at the next date for the USA National Teams, Euro, UEFA OR MLS match. You'll have a great time and help to support the greatest sport on earth. Football forever!!!
Good food, ok service. I went here with a friend last weekend and I must say that I enjoyed my meal very much. I ordered the fish and chips it being my first time. The portions were very generous and tasty. I also really like the homemade tartar sauce. The service was somewhat slow, however. I'd go back.
Love this place! The atmosphere, the decor, the beer and the food. Try the Shepards Pie or the Guiness Stew-amazing!
Great food and atmosphere!. We love the atmosphere in here. Pool table is fun, staff is so helpful and friendly. Burgers are amazing!
The true "Good Mood Food". My wife and I have been here several times and have enjoyed it every time. We've been for brunch and split corned beef hash and a curry chicken wrap. Both were excellent. The "chips and curry" appetizer is a great value and can be split by 4-6 people easily. The Shepard's Pie is great, and so is the Steak and Ale pie (think about your mom's beef pot pie, and then imagine it being better!). And of course, the draft beer selection is rivaled only by places like the Chimes
Cool atmosphere good food. I tell you what,BR has got to be one of the best places if you like different places to eat.Now British food how cool is that and the Londoner is great with a huge beer list and good wait staff it is a super place to hang out.
This place is great. Please tell all your friends to try it out. Wonderful staff, cozy atmosphere and AMAZING Fish and Chips. You gotta try it. Sign up online for a free appetizer (on their website). Mmmmmmm. You wont be sorry.
Really good. We went today for lunch and had the bangers and chips, and asked to try the curry sauces for the chips - the bangers were mild but very good with the red eye gravy and the hotter of the 2 curries I loved with the chips. Fish was good. The 3rd person had the shepard's pie and that was pretty good also. I would like to try the Reuben sandwich next time and will definitely go back.
Pretty okay. I was excited to try a British restaurant in BR, and I enjoyed the Londoner. Got the fish and chips. Would have preferred if the fish wasn't such a big piece, and if it were smaller and had more breading. HUGE portions though, and the fries were great!!
Underwhelming Food. As an expat South African I've been craving proper fish 'n' chips since arriving here. I've yet to find fresh cod in America so I'll be kind and assume the proprietor is honest in his claim of "fresh". Neverthless the fish was of good quality, flaky and white, although strangely shaped like a Tinkie (Twinkie) instead of the familiar fillet shape. The batter was tasty, but thin and too soft. Maybe another minute in the fat fryer? The fries were DELICIOUS and perfectly seasoned. However they were NOT chips, they were french fries. I know it's psychological, but when you grow up on "lekker slop chips", substituting them for fries leaves one wanting.
I was disappointed by the VERY American choice of "appetizers", with not a steak finger, sausage roll or scotch egg in sight (the latter, strangely, is a Wednesdays-only "entrée" item.) I had a bit of my guests' bangers and mash, and it was very good, as was the Shepherd's Pie (though I'm used to minced lamb, not beef). The bit of Steak & Ale pie I tasted was no better than the Fray Bentos variety found out my local Pick 'n' Pay supermarket back home.
The atmosphere is nice and "Englishy" and the wait staff friendly and explains the menu well. The drinks choice was excellent. In summary, it's good food, but not great. I recommend it for anyone interesting in experiencing English food, but if you're a homesick expat, you may be disappointed.
7 out of 10.. Super friendly staff who's very knowledgeable about what they serve. Great beer selection and pleasant bar area. The food was just so-so, kind of an imitation of what/how they think Brits eat. Not so much authentic, but a good try.

Worth a visit.. Went to check this place out thanks to a half-off $40 gift certificate from 225 Best Eats.
The beer selection is pretty decent but also pretty typical... there were a few bottles that were a little more on the unique side but nothing really blew me away. The Moylan's Kilt Lifter was probably the best beer on tap the night I went.
I enjoyed the Chips & Curry appetizer a good bit, interesting pairing, and having eaten many an Indian food meal in London I can say it's a pretty legit pairing.
The fish & chips were pretty good, but nothing that blew me away. I think the "chips" were more above par than the fish.
I doubt I'll be back often because I live on the other side of town, but it was definitely worth a visit.
Nice Atmosphere. Really enjoyed the lively atmosphere of The Londoner. They have some good drink specials as well. I had fish and chips and my husband had a steak sandwich. These were both just ok. I tried the chicken kabobs and they were cooked well and nicely seasoned. I would recommend as a good place to have a few drinks.
Just like in UK!. The food was great and for the great price! Me, my husband and our 2 y.o. son had an appetizer and each had a meal and total was 45$! We still had leftovers.
Their beer selection is great, lots of Samuel Smiths and other good beers.
The stuff was very friendly, and the atmosphere is nice and relaxing. It'll work for friends night out as well as the family dine out.
Never fails me. I have never actually eaten here yet. But I have gone many many times to hang out and drink and I've had a blast every single time. Everyone who works there is super super nice and always made sure that we were served very promptly. I have never had to wait for a drink and they always suggest the best types of beer to try. I love it. Thumbs up!
Excellent fare, great beer, terrific atmosphere. The Londoner Pub and Grill is a great addition to the South Baton Rouge scene. 10+ visits and I haven't had a bad experience yet. The atmosphere is wonderful, whether for a beer after work, a night on the town, or a nice date. The portions are ample, the prices are fair, and the food and service are superb. I recommend the Tower of London burger and the Sheperd's Pie, and the Cheesy Hampton Fries are done perfectly. Enjoy a pint from the ample beer list, and tip your server. If you haven't been yet, you are missing out!
Awesome atmosphere and the food is just as good. Had the fish and chips and the portion size is HUGE. Food is piping hot and well seasoned. I'll be back!
Great atmosphere. The atmosphere was great and so was the food. We had the chips and curry for an appetizer, and it was delicious!
Wednesday Night Dinner. First time to the Londer and LOVED IT! The decorator did a phenomenal job! I felt like I was in a pub right in the middle of London! The bar also made me reminisce of my days living in Lincoln Park, Chicago. The server was cute and knowledgeable! My Club sandwich on wheat was delish-i-oso and so fresh! I would love to organize a party in the back room with the pool tables for a client someday!
Genuine Imitation Pub!. We've eaten here several times - it's a very pleasant imitation English pub - well designed for the American market and slightly tongue in cheek... but nothing like the sort of pubs that I grew up in as a kid. If you're looking for a real pub - this isn't it - but that said, it's a pleasant place to eat and the food is generally better quality than you'd get in a real English pub - but that's not saying a whole lot - it's average food by Baton Rouge standards.
There's a very good selection of beers (all served too cold but you can just let it sit there for a while to warm up) - it's a nice open atmosphere with friendly staff - a good place for a lads night out. Let's face it - you're here for the beer - not the food.
It's worth noting that they have tables outside so unless it's really cold you can eat, drink and smoke here.
Great Beer. The fish and chips is pretty tasty! The service was very good and the restaurant is large and roomy.
Interesting atmosphere, the food is decent but not what I was expecting from a place such as this. But the beer, is the best reason to go. Meet some friends and have some of their many choices on tap
Great food and service. My family ate here earlier today from the brunch menu. We tried curry and chips, fish and chips and the full monty. Everything was excellent; both the food and venue reminded us of our time living in Scotland. Our server was friendly and our food was served quickly. We'll definitely be back!
Our new favorite place!. Feels like an authentic English pub. We've been there several times now and each time the food was great. Staff is friendly and service is good. Atmosphere is cool! Highly recommend!
Great atmosphere and good food. The fish and chips were lacking on the fish and went a bit overboard on the chips, but overall the meal was good. It was, however, a bit disappointing that a few of the menu items we tried to order were out.
It’s after church and games are about to kick off so where do you go. You want cozy and affordable, yet your dog wants to go out too.
I don’t have a dog but found a place where you can eat outside and enjoy some great weather, food, sports and yes they ask you to bring your dog. How awesome is that!!!
It was a little busy when I got there and I wanted to sit outside to enjoy this cool weather. The wait was less than twenty minutes. Pretty awesome.
My server Lillith was pleasant in suggesting something to drink and stayed attentive. I tried the chicken and waffle. This would be my only complaint. Four chicken strips with one waffle was a really light meal. The food was cooked well but portion size was small. That is my only complaint.
I will be coming back again to try other foods and maybe I will even try some dinner sometime. If you are a cyclist, I parked my bike at my table and was not harassed about it. That is awesome.
The loaded cheese fries, Cobb salad, triple m burger, fries, and shepherds pie were all outstanding. The food was ready quickly. If you want an English pub experience, this is the place to go. Update: the fish & chips, and the pulled pork quesadilla are also great!
My boys and I came here for the first time today and our experience was absolutely perfect! Our server, Serena, was an absolute sweetheart and just an amazing person. She was so sweet to me and my boys and made our experience that much better. The food was so delicious! My favorite was the mac and cheese. My boys got some beef and bacon and my usually picky Pomeranian gobbled it all up! We will most definitely be coming back here in the future!

I got my food to go but sat at the bar while waiting. The bartenders were friendly and attentive. I ordered a burger and fries. My food was hot and fresh. Everything tasted great and it was a good amount of food. I had some leftover for another meal. I would definitely go back!
Really good food. Quiet, laid back atmosphere. Several pool tables. Great bar.
I ordered the steak n’ ale pie with a side of chips and a piece of chocolate mousse cake. It was all delicious and delivered timely via the Waitre app. One day I will go in person so I can enjoy a pint or two.
We stopped in to occupy some time with a couple drinks and had the loaded cheese fries. The service was fantastic and the fries were amazing! We're sad we didn't get there sooner in the day because that day they had an event with the animal rescue league.
