Neighborhood secret. This is a family run restaurant that serves authentic Sicilian food by a true Sicilian chef. Grace is truly wonderful chef who will make and accommodate any dish for you. Everything is made to order, so when it arrives you will just love it. Her desserts are just as wonderful. Lots of regulars have been going there for years. Grace also gives cooking lessons. Also catering is available and is just great.
Last Friday evening, my family and I had the pleasure of dining at L'Italiano Trattoria around 5:15 pm, spontaneously and without a reservation. Despite being fully booked, the staff kindly found us a table, asking only that we finish by 6:45 pm. This warm welcome was a wonderful start to our visit.
The atmosphere was intimate and friendly, with many guests greeted personally, indicating a loyal and regular clientele. This charming spot is a true hidden gem, cherished by those who prefer timeless quality over fleeting trends, and it's evident in the lack of widespread online acclaim.
Service was exceptionally quick. We were immediately served water and delicious complimentary bread, showcasing the staff's efficiency and expertise. Our order was taken with impressive memory, further displaying the team's professionalism.
For starters, we had the Misto Oreganato, a homemade delight with a subtle breading that enhanced the flavors, particularly the white wine in the sauce. The Pasta Primavara, ordered by my sons, was thoughtfully served on two plates, emphasizing the kitchen's attention to detail. The dish itself was fresh and perfectly balanced. The Calamari Salad was a hit, featuring excellently grilled calamari with a light dressing. The Cannelloni stood out with its perfectly cooked pasta and rich ricotta filling.
Opting to take our desserts home, we were thrilled with the cheesecake, reminiscent of the famous Eileen's in Nolita, and the Nutella Mousse Chocolate Cake was equally delightful.
Concluding our meal with the convenience of tableside card payment, we left impressed by the seamless experience.
L'Italiano Trattoria is where tradition, outstanding service, and culinary expertise come together. We eagerly anticipate our next visit, this time with a reservation, to enjoy this much-loved local gem once again.
This is a family-run establishment that serves truly remarkable food. We were recommended to visit by a friend, and we were not let down. We decided to try a variety of items from the menu, and we found ourselves thoroughly enjoying every single one. The service provided was exceptional, and the prices were reasonable.
Without a doubt, I highly recommend trying their lentil soup and calamari. They are absolute must-haves.
A small, clean Italian restaurant that the locals seemed to go. We made a reservation and were seated promptly upon arrival. Ceasar salad was served with anchovies as requested. Loved their chicken piccata, perfect for my taste. Chicken parmigiana was good. I loved the steamed veggies that came with the entrees. They were fresh and not over cooked. Overall a good dining experience.
Absolutely incredible!!! Delicious food, great service, and such a nice, clean restaurant. We cleaned every single plate on our table. If you’re in the area, definitely stop in!
Came here for my brother’s birthday. Vinny and everyone working in the restaurant took care of us. The owner and her mother completely accommodated us because our dinner ran a little later and we still wanted to have cake to which they were more than happy to oblige! I love how their menu lists the courses out just like how it is in Italy!
Finally found a great, well priced Italian restaurant in the neighborhood. We all enjoyed our food... veal w proscuitto, flounder, swordfish, fennel/arugula salad, cake w nutella!! Will definitely be returning!!
I really enjoy the cozy atmosphere of this Italian restaurant.
Absolutely delicious!!! Our go to place to give people some of the best Southern Italian food in Queens. Everything is made from scratch. The desserts especially the tiramisu is tremendous. Will be back soon.
We came here many many times, all food High quality ,everything really good, we will continue…
Wonderful family owned Sicilian restaurant.
The closest thing you can get to an authentic home cooked Italian meal at a restaurant.
Nothing in Little Italy, or on Arthur Avenue, compares to this.
This is not an "Italian" restaurant run by Albanians.
Nice selection of Sicilian Wines and beer. No liquor though.
