Had a great experience eating there today!
Had a classic Italian beef and hot dog
Very pleased with staff and outdoor seating
Will return again!
Best Italian beef in town. They moved a little further from us, but worth the drive. :)

Everyone in our family from Grandpa Jim to little Callie love coming here...they request it! Now, GjGj created a signature dish: "GjGj's Baked Potato Fries, plus a chopped up hot dog!" THE BEST...and gluten free :-D
Fabulous food-they have top shelf hot dogs, terrific sandwiches, and great a Greek salad--all with great service. This is a must do if you're in Austin.
I love this place but when I go its closed... But hours on website say open daily from 11? Anyone know what up? If you call goes to VM that's not set up?
Excellent hotdogs, just like home. It had a good snap, was not overcooked. And they are not big fans of putting ketchup on the hotdog.
Being born and raised in Chicsgo, this is the only place I have found where I can still get my favorite and famous chicago style hot dogs! Total thumbs up to its owner! :-D
It's all about the italian beef with hot peppers...

Great! Reuben sandwich was delicious and onion rings French fries to die for!
best restaurant there ever was!!!!!!!!!!!!!! everything is great and the staff is super cool/friendly/quick.
Best hot dogs around. I am so glad that they reopened after the fire. They set up a trailer while they look for a new permanent location. I crave Chi Town bacon wrapped dog. Yummmmm!
It is closed after a fire, don't know if it move to a new location.
Wow. What a great place. Excellent hot dogs. Parking bites but honestly, not a deal breaker.
I miss home Chicago but the Food here was on point just like Home
Love this place! Best hotdogs & fries in the world!
One of the Best hotdogs in town I must say....I always enjoy eating here and will continue to
One of the best hot dogs I have had. Go there often.
Great Dogs. Very good chili cheese foot longs. Large dog that snapped like it is supposed to. Chili good. We will certainly go back when in this area.
Chi town has it down! It has evolved into a true Chicago eatery!
Great Food, Friendly Staff but Slow Service. As the title reads ... They have great Italian Beef Sandwiches (my wife's fave), Genuine Vienna Beef Chicago Dogs and the Maxwell Street Polish Sausages served on Poppy Seed Rolls and in true Chicago fashion. No Gyros though which surprises me for a Chicago style sandwich shop. They are casual, friendly and very laid-back but they need to develop a sense of urgency and understand that they are in a service industry with the key word being ... service.
I continue to go back for their food and I put up with the crazy downhill driveway, goofy parking situation and lackadaisical service but at this point one bad food experience could have me writing them off for good.
Leo's (now closed) in Cedar Park was a shining star of this same genre and you can thank them for setting the Italian Beef hook deep in my Texan-born wife which is why we keep coming back to Chi-Town.
Great food. Chi-town is a small, hole-the-wall place easy to drive by. When I visit, I order the Italian beef or the Italian sausage and it fantastic every time. The quality and quantity is huge. The french fries are special, too. You won't go away hungry. Try the Italian beef, wet, and sweet. It is authentic Chicago style beef that is unique to that area. Chi-town is a refreshing change from Tex-Mex.
Awesome dogs. Service- excellent. Food- beyond excellent. One of the best hot dogs I've ever had. Highly recommend the Carolina dog.
Out of towers and love it. We are from out of town on biz. We saw the reviews and decided to give it a try. It was delish! Great food, great prices, great staff. They've got a good thing going here.
I stop with the kiddos, they love it. Tasty hotdogs with lots of options. Friendly staff. Fun and colorful. Always clean.
My Lunch Was Great at Chi-Town. As a new Hot Dog Joint owner myself, I had to try Chi-Town. I read the urbanspoon reviews and went in educated. I think the few negative comments I read were a result of their start-up confusion (we had that too). Other comments seem to have been addressed by the owners and I applaud them for their ability and willingness to change to meet their customers' wishes.
My visit was great, everything (Chicago Dog, Chili-Cheese Dog and Fries) was delicious and the place is really cool.
Good luck to Chi-Town and give them a try.
Awesome, but don't tell anyone. This place is awesome. The Italian Beef is to die for. Best I have ever had. Rivals some of best places in Chicago itself. If you are a true fan of dogs and subs this is the place to go. The lines are long at peak times, but worth it. I wonder if they make pizza.
Can't wait to go back!. My husband and I made a late evening run to Chi-Town to grab some dinner and we couldn't be more pleased! We left exclaiming the virtues of this brand new friendly little place tucked right off 620 between Lakeway and Hudson Bend Rd. As native Texans who have never visited Chicago, we were looking forward to trying some authentic Windy City fare.
After glancing over the menu it didn't take long for us to place our order: a Chi-town Classic hot dog (to split), a Beef sandwich combo (for hubby) wet and sweet -which the helpful young man taking our order suggested, and a Meatball sandwich with the addition of sweet green peppers and mozzarella (for me).
We decided to eat inside (although they do have a nice deck for those wishing to dine outside-shaded for daytime and lighted at night). We sipped on our just right fountain Cokes (crushed ice, free refills too!) while waiting for our order and admired the cheerful decor - especially the wooden Chicago mural on the wall-very creative and fun! (BTW the place was SPOTLESS) Before we knew it, our order was brought to our table and let me tell ya we did not waste any time digging in!
I started with the hot dog (my first Chicago style one) and was not disappointed! It burst with flavor. All the toppings blended beautifully together and complemented the juicy hot all beef dog and I especially loved the fresh green relish! Next came the Meatball sandwich. The first thing I have to tell you is that this sandwich was huge! The hot marinara and mozzarella covered meatballs were nestled in the most perfect tasting roll which was warm with just enough crispness on the outside while still being moist on the inside! I piled the sweet cooked green peppers on top and took the first bite. YUM! The meatballs were nicely browned, tender and well seasoned and the marinara sauce was hearty and flavorful! I was not the only one who enjoyed my meal either. My husband LOVED his HUGE Beef sandwich. The "wet and sweet" recommendation was spot on. He devoured it along with his half of the hot dog and exclaimed that both were excellent. The fries were hot with just the right amount of seasoning and crispness. Alas, we were both too full to even think about ordering an Italian Ice, but we plan to save room for some on our next trip to Chi-Town...or the trip after that...(today will be the first of many!)
All in all a terrific, satisfying meal for under 20 bucks and a menu which offers enough variety to make native Texans and homesick Chicago transplants (and most everyone else) happy!
Finally A Real Chicago Style Eatery. It has been almost a year since I moved from Chicago to Austin and I will say that I love my new home, except for the food. Sure there is plenty of great restaurants around. But the art of the greasy spoon is, in my humble northerner opinion, lost to Austin. (Mexican food doesn't count.)
I have tried many a "Chicago style" restaurant here and had yet to find anything that reminds me of home. The big shocker was the lack of garlic or oregano in almost every Italian eatery or pizza place. No one I talked to even knew what a cheesy beef was!
So when I came to Chi-Town, I was more than skeptical that I would find anything worth while. And I have never been so happy to be wrong.
The first good sign was the smell. (warning, it can be a little pungent in there.) This place accommodates a little indoor seating its not necessarily meant to be a sit down place. More like a grab and go.
Of course they have the Italian beef with cheese, and while its not listed, if you ask for mozzarella cheese they will put it on there for you. They offer it truly Chicago style with dipped, the sandwich dunked in the beef sauce, or dry. Sweet peppers or hot. And the cheesy fries are fantastic.
The hotdogs are great too, with all the trimmings.
If you moved here from Chicago then you will be instantly transported back. If you have never been, then this is close as your going to get before going their yourself. I'm very pleased at their arrival and I hope they will stay for a while.
This place will have you humming, “My kind of town…”
