My wife and I came to John Day for our ten year anniversary. We have never been to John Day before so we had to choose where to have our special dinner. This dinner ( we had the Copper Cricket and Oscar fillet) exceeded our expectations to the extent that it was one of the best, most memorable we have ever had. Excellent, perfect. If this place was in Portland, you couldn't get in. We made reservations for tomorrow night. Thank You for making our anniversary extra special.

Best steak I've had in years! I'd almost given up on ordering steak at a restaurant because more often than not, I felt I would've been better off cooking for myself at home. The Snaffle Bit has redeemed my faith! My wife & I dropped in for dinner on a Friday night with no reservation and we got right in. We were celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary on an impromptu trip from Bend through the Painted Hills to Prairie City. Our host and server were very friendly and fun to talk to. My wife ordered a Pendleton, neat, and they were very generous with the pour (about a triple, I'd say). We ordered and split an Oscar tenderloin with shrimp, button mushrooms, asparagus, blue cheese, cheddar garlic mash potatoes, and garlic bread. Every bite from every selection on the plate was decadent and heavenly. The steak was cooked perfectly (mid rare, as requested), and the blue cheese was velvety and smooth. The garlic mashed potatoes were heavy on the garlic, just the way I like it, and they weren't sticky or overly fluffy. We were really impressed with the food and give our compliments to the chef. Being from Bend we have plenty of good restaurants to choose from and could be considered "foodies." The food at the Snaffle Bit IS GOOD. REALLY GOOD. The service was very good and we loved the rustic, farmhouse atmosphere. We will be back! Thank you for making our anniversary that much more special!
My family took me there for my birthday and it was excellent! The food was delicious! We ordered a variety of items such as the Exploded bay shrimp potato bowl and the Copper Cricket steak. We couldn't have asked for a more delicious meal. Thanks!!! Oh, and the blackberry lemonade was delicious as well.
I am very picky when it comes to eating out. The Snaffle Bit hit every point. Great service. Great food and I loved the ambiance . I will be back next year when we are in Oregon.
Great spot to grab some good Chinese food. They are quick and the food is good. They will be our go to for Chinese food in North West Arkansas.
(3.5) There’s a lot to like / dislike here, truly middle of the road experiences. I’ve come to order beef dishes as the chicken can be tough and or dry. The lunch menu may be limited but very reasonable. I prefer Mai Chinese just down the street but they don’t offer a lunch menu / pricing. Top China does have a rather extensive non-lunch menu and dishes are prepared fresh when ordered. Another big negative is the restaurant itself. It really is just a take-out, they neither encourage nor do well in house dinning, just get it to go. Other issues can include skimping on some ingredients and over relying on others instead of a balanced mixture. They will spice to order and servings are generous.

WHAT I COULD SAY ABOUT TOP CHINA IS THAT IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO AWESOME AND THE LADY IS SO NICE!!!!!!!!!!! AND I LOVE THEIR SWEET TEA, THAT JAPANESE FIZZY DRINK, AND THEIR FOOD! I ALSO LOVE THEIR MUSHROOM CHICKEN! SO YUMMY! AND THERE'S A THOUSANDS OF MORE REASONS WHY I LOVE TOP CHINA!!!
