What a gem!! Huge selection of things on the menu. Fast service. The patio area outside is great to enjoy a fabulous breakfast. The portions are huge but so good that you can’t stop eating!
Love their service. atmosphere, music and food. Steve put together a wonderful place to eat, meet others and enjoy life. The staff are warm and helpful and the food is good. The coffee is also really good. I will miss them all very much and have been here every day for many months. This was my favorite hang out in Bellevue. Thank you Gilberts on Main. Hugs to you all. The deco is 2. the service is 3(they are kind, but it is not a waiter/waitress serving restaurant). but the food makes the overall rating 5. a good price for good food. try their 'favorite' menu. you will like it.
Love this place. It's a little on the pricier side for me, but the taste is great and staff is always friendly and welcoming. Like another reviewer mentioned, it's nice to see these smaller, more intimate places thrive. Would recommend to anyone as a great place for a nice treat.
Recently went for lunch with a coworker and had one of their sandwich specials - was a curry chicken salad. Found it to be extremely flavorful and filling. I'm happy to see places like this stay in business for as long as they have. The owner is present and involved in taking care of his customers.
The BEST breakfast in Bellevue!. I try to mix it up a bit between omelets, scrambles and pancakes and it's always consistently delicious! My daughter ordered lunch today and raved about her sandwich and potato salad. The portions are large, and can be shared, but after tasting the food we bet you'll want to enjoy it all yourself! Steve is usually on-site and so personable. If you go enough he gets to know everyone!

@Bobby Fink. A fabulous corned beef sandwich. The only one in King County that replicates the Chicago and New York Delis. More people need to find out about this place! Will be back to try the bagels this weekend.
I love the atmosphere in this place. The walls are painted a warm yellow color. There are plenty of books and magazines to read . Its very cozy. My favorite is the music that they have play live sometimes. Food is very good.

Delicious! Best French onion soup ever.
Weekday breakfast is a great bargain. The smaller portions offered on weekday mornings are a great deal. Although described as "one-egg" omelets, the size is perfect. It comes with a bagel, and you can add potatoes (which are some of the best I've had at a restaurant) for a couple dollars. A huge, delicious meal for a great price.

Great breakfast , lunch spot on old main in Bellevue. Looking for a great causal breakfast or lunch spot. Gilberts is great and has incredible egg combinations with real potatoes, a like crispy with fruit, and a bagel with cream cheese and jam for breakfast .
For lunch you can have a lite bite delicious bagel sandwich with salad or a full sandwich that will remind you of the best New York delis. If you are sharing try the signature white bean soup, Incredible.
You will never leave Gilbert's hungry and there is always plenty to share . Atmosphere very comfortable whether you are sitting in or outside on sunny day along Main street. Lastly the best chocolate chip cookie I've ever had. Hidden secret, baked fresh daily!
Great Breakfast!. First glimpse of the the breakfast menu kind of took me aback seeing prices in the 13-15 dollar range for an omelette, but a closer inspection of the menu, revealed a lite type menu (available M-F in the AM) which was awesome! I ordered the Jalapeno/cheese omelette which came with a good sized bagel cream cheese and some wonderful raspberry jelly. Even though it says it is a lite breakfast it was more than enough to satisfy the stomach. This breakfast rates at or near the top of my list of places that I've eaten breakfasts at which have been many. The entire experience was enjoyable, as the place was very clean, service was very good, restrooms were very clean, and of course the food was outstanding. Our party of 6 people all enjoyed it. We will be back if ever back in the area. Can you open a place like this in San Antonio?
Gilbert's Pastrami - has it together!. Someone wrote in that their pastrami sandwich fell apart. I was in to Gilbert's on Main recently. And, I ordered the Pastrami. It's fantastic meat; piled admittedly high - like New York deli's do. But, it hung together great for me! I took a pic of it with my iPad. Try it, you'll like it - if you're a Pastrami fan.
The best!. I've lived in this neighborhood for over ten years and this place is always at the top of my list, whether we want a quick bite or want to stay for awhile. The food is well-priced considering the humongous servings and it is delicious - perfectly seasoned. Great menu; impossible to get stuck on one thing. You only pay once for coffee and the beverages are generous. The atmosphere is one-of-a-kind; there's almost a camaraderie between customers. Add the occasional music, Gilbert's commitment to the community and quality.... Well, if I go more than two weeks without, I begin to experience withdrawal!
Best Deli Food. We decided to see what Main St had to offer on our latest trip to Bellevue. The choices at Gilbert's looked promising. Our chicken curry sandwich and matzo ball soup were excellent. The prices might look high at first since the $9.99 sandwich threshold is busted but the portions were very generous. This is the kind of place that ends up on TV since everything is homemade. We were lucky enough to be there when live musicians were in the restaurant playing jazz classics. It was Sat at lunchtime. We will definitely go back. My kids are hooked on the idea of picnics. There is a big park a block away and the next time we'll get a to-go order and eat al fresco. This is not as fancy a place at Stopsky's and I doubt they have dinner but the food itself is better. We loved it.
Good Deli. . beware of the $22 sandwich. Good deli with yummy bagel sandwiches. I went to get my husband a pastrami sandwich which I pre-ordered over the phone so I could grab it on my way home from work. When I went there and saw the price for this now famous or infamous sandwich which turned out to be $21.99 I was surprised at how much it was (NY prices for sure). The redeeming value was that it was humongous and my husband did enjoy it (for two meals). Their potato salad is awesome. Everything else is fairly priced but take it from me if you order over the phone verify the prices. ;)

Best Brunch In The East Side. Gilbert's on Main is a beautiful restaurant to have a breakfast or lunch. The food is yummy and the servers are very friendly. I always order a scrumble for just $4.99
as my favorite breakfast and a club sandwiche with a lovely hot chiken casear salad if I go for Lunch and it's just $ 8.99. Matter fact, their portions are big and I really enjoy going there. Gilbert' s On Main has a wonderful atmosphere to hangout at especially weekend where I could listen to Jazz Music and enjoy my walk in Old Bellevue.
Best Deli In Seattle Area. Gilbert's is the best sandwiches west of chicago. This small quaint deli in Bellevue's old town is simply the best. Soup. Oh yeah. Try the white bean soup--- soooo good!. Sam adds a great personal touch.
Good Breakfasts. My wife eat at Gilberts on Main Street regularly and love it. The customer service is very good along with the food. If you want a good breakfast go to Gilberts. We enjoy the french toast quite regularly. Yum.
I love Gilbert's.... Hidden Gem of Old Bellevue! I have been going here for years and love the place. Excellent spot for breakfast with a great menu and huge variety of fresh bagels and great pancakes, but the Matzo ball soup is absolutely fantastic. Gilbert's service is great and I would reccomend this place to any body. Recently I had a grandmother that wasn't feeling well and I called up and Gilbert answered the phone but they were closed, I told him my situation and he stayed late to make sure that he was there to hand off some of his signature matzo ball soup, if that doesn't some up this kind of a place and what you can expect there then I don't know what else to say. Top-Notch and 5-stars!!
Great during the winter, Best in the Summer. This was one of the first places I was told to go when I first started working in the Bellevue area. I was happily surprised when I saw their portions are larger then the names suggest, ie. micro scrambles, petites, etc. and the food was amazing. I actually suggested the location as a place my office could get breakfast once a week and everyone loved it so much, it has since become the preferred place for everyone in my office.
During the Summer though, its not only the food that I love but the little patio area out front. Even though its more about the charm of Main street, it still is nice that they will bring the food out to you.
Great Menu - Real Food. I remember when Gilbert's opened and have always enjoyed going there. Perfect place for after shopping Main Street with the ladies who lunch. We get different salads and sandwiches or mini-egg dishes and share them. Hardworking owner is always gracious.
Great deli. My wife, son and I were craving Gilberts pastrami and matzo ball soup all day on Sunday. We had gone to Gilberts the day before for salami and eggs, which were delicious. Anyway, we finally got around to going at 3:00 on Sunday just as they were closing. We looked through the window at one of the employees that helped us the day before (Kristina) and she gave us a nod of approval and let us in telling the rest of the staff to go ahead and make us whatever we want. We all know how this could have gone with other chain places. "Sorry, we are closed." Not really caring about the customer, but more about the employees going home. But this Kristina welcomed us in. We throughly enjoyed a couple of pastrami sandwiches and some soup. This will definitely be on our list of Saturday and Sunday brunch places. Thanks Gilberts.

Bagels, Bagels & Soups. The bagels can be combined so many ways that they are a complement to their soups. Excellent staff and customer servicce is their specialty. Bravo!
Love their lite breakfasts!. Love the charming neighborhood feel of Gilbert's. Great place to have breakfast or coffee with a friend. Their light breakfasts are one egg with fresh veggies as you wish, and a bagel on the side with cream cheese and jam. Just the right size and perfectly done at a very good price, about $5. Their bagels are the closest to NY one's I've seen in the area...so I took a dozen home for the rest of the family too.
Great on Weekdays!. Gilbert's is the best breakfast place on the weekdays. It's hard to beat the pricing of the micros (scrambles and omelettes) and it is generally unhurried and relaxing. Lunch and weekend breakfasts are rushed, simply because it's hard to ignore folks that are glaring at you to hurry up and will pounce on the table if you leave it for half a second. The standard menu is a bit expensive, but the food is pretty good for what you get. Afternoons are a bit strange; Steve serves crepes, but sometimes runs out of ingredients.
It's a great place to eat, but you have to keep in mind that the place is SMALL and that table turnover is simply not a priority. I go there precisely so I can linger and read the paper and not get hassled (by Steve or any of the servers) to leave as soon as I'm done. Go early or during the week if you want the best experience.
Great Food and Coffee at Gilbert's. Order the Blueberry Pound Cake and a Micro Meal at Gilbert's! The walnut pancakes were fluffy and light, and the lemonade was refreshing. A cozy atmosphere, the only thing I couldn't find was parking, as the lunch rush was busy! Great place

Best Breakfast Deal in Town. Recently had breakfast at Gilberts and found them to be fantastic. I had one of their "lite breakfast options" and for $ 5.00 it was anything but lite. I chose from 6 different omletes that were the perfect size and it came with my choice of bagel, chreemcheese and jam. Great location, nice atmosphere, good service. What a deal

Undecided. I voted that I liked it but thats only because there isnt a button for, not really sure. My boyfriend and I went there for lunch. I ordered the swiss melt with a cup of Matzo ball soup and he was supposed to have the Brooklyn Bride sandwhich. I say supposed to because they messed up his order, which it seems happens quite a bit. We also ordered two diet cokes. This came to over $40. I was astonished especially given that they charge $2.50 for a CAN of diet coke and there are no re-fills. I did love that they had a live jazz band that was playing great music and not too sound super old but it was too loud either. The space is really small and the tables even smaller. Our food barely fit. Regardless, the food was decent enough but im not sure it warrented the price. The Matzo was just like mom used to make it though so that was great. I am still pretty undecided about how i feel overall. I might go back, I might not.
Great Lunch Spot on Bellevue's Main St.!. Went in today for the first time with a customer, who recommended it, and I was very impressed by the casual feel and generously sized sandwiches. Everything was fresh and the staff did not scrimp on the ingredients. We also had the Caesar salad topped with warm slices of turkey and capers. Yummers! We had our meeting and will definitely put this lunch spot on our business rotation.

Great little spot. The lines up are long but its worth it. don't miss out on a great bfast. the place is always packed, its not cheap but it gives you a taste of where the MSFT millionaires go for bfast.

Gilbert's is the place to eat. I have known Steve Gilbert, owner of Gilbert's Main Street Bagel Deli, from his former life as manager of a video store on Mercer Island. His dream was to own a New York style deli. Indeed, his dream has been realized. I have eaten at Gilbert's many, many times, mainly lunch. It's often my second office, as it is usually the place I suggest for a lunch meeting. Great food, and abundant for the price. Friendly staff, and wonderful atmosphere.

Great Food!. Stumbled across this place by accident a few weeks ago and have eaten their at least 5 times since. I have to keep going back to try the different breakfast foods... although the soup and sandwich I had was out of this world as well. So far can recomment the tomato florentine soup, ALL sandwich's, French Toast, Marionberry pancakes, and so much more. This is a definate must if you enjoy good food!

Pastrami to die for. This is the best pastrami sandwich in the world - better than the Stage Deli in New York and that is the "real deal" It is somewhat pricey - One Pastrami sandwich and Gilberts famous ice tea was approx $20.00 (ouch). However that said, you get an ample portion and the flavor of the meat is so incredible I probably would pay more if I had to. You also get a little cup of Gilbert's fabulous potato salad to go along with your sandwich. You get it fast so service is very efficient even when they are packed. Steve Gilbert is the ultimate friendly host always checking to see how your meal is and how you are doing. Kristina is the Manager and she is fantastic with customers. I also love the egg salad sandwich which is done with slivered almonds - you can add items as I do with some dill in a little cup, Dijon/mayo, sliced small green onions in addition to the lettuce, tomato. Also the French Onion soup is superb - I believe they slow cook it with some kinds of wine and it is outstanding.

Awesome!. After watching all these episodes on TV about deli sandwiches - nostalgia hit and it hit hard. Today, I went in for a pastrami/cornbeef combo full order topped w/ coleslaw, Russian dressing, and Swiss. I lived in Philly and many times hit NYC for a good deli sandwich - this is the best since I've lived in the NW. Great staff, great owner, Highly recommended. Salads were great as well! Hope you like it as much as I did.

Value. Gilbert's has a tremendous amount of value in their menu. You can order the sandwhiches as half or the whole but if you aorder it whole make sure you are hungry!!!! Absolutely fresh and a great variety. I have tried their signature salads as well, they well accommodate special requests in changing the items within.

A frequent customer of a variety of restaurants around the Sound, it's refreshing to step away from the omnipresent, boring/passive Northwest attitude toward service and customer connection...and engage with a lively small business owner who wants you to love coming to Gilbert's. It's just one of those places. The food is not off the charts for flavor, but it's good, well-made and healthy. I love that you can choose your options and sub out ingredients without a hassle. Thank goodness for Gilbert's, a little cafe that gives Main Street necessary spunk.

Great everything. Gilberts is an amazing deli and i have never been disappointed! the #9 hot pastrami corn beef hash sandwhich is far and away the best sandwich i have had anywhere on the eastside and probably the best in Seattle. it is a bit on the expensive side but is worth every bite.

Very Good. I had a pita breakfast sandwich (egg, feta, sausage and sour cream) with homestyle potatoes. It was so good I had to put the conversation on pause so I could revel in the yumminess. Made me feel like I was back home (I'm from the NYC area.) Great food *plus* live jazz... I was in heaven. We'll be coming back many more times I'm sure.
Great place for brunch. They have a very large size, I recommend 1 dish for 2 people. They have great self-pour coffee. I enjoy their supreme omelette and sesame bagel. Because of their large size, the average for 1 person is about $30(including tax and tips)
Came here with my mom awhile ago and then brought my boyfriend today… both experiences were great! Large portions, quick and attentive service, nice location and can take a walk around downtown park afterwards! The fruits that came with the Blood Orange Mimosa were sweet and a nice aesthetic touch =) Would recommend this place to those who would like to enjoy a relaxing brunch!
Had the best New York style deli Reuben I have ever had, and I'm a hard critic of the sandwich. The sandwich was STACKED and came with delicious sides. So many other delicious looking menu items, will have to go back and try them all!
Delicious food, but their prices are actual highway robbery. Got the lox omelette with coffee, somehow it came out to $35. The omelette was on the menu for $25, and I seriously hope I didn’t just pay $10 for a cup of coffee, but that’s what it seems like. The portion sizes are also absolutely massive. There’s no way I can finish a huge omelette, home fries, and a bagel with cream cheese and not feel absolutely stuffed to the brim. I appreciate that they give you so much food, but I definitely can’t finish everything in one sitting.

Finding tables is hard during the morning we first came for dine in. We tried take out on our 2nd visit and the food proportions were still good and everything was the same we ordered from dine in.
Pancakes are HUGE, size of plates, we saw a child only ate 1/3 of their pancakes and couldn't finish the rest.
Omelets were light and flavorful with toppings inside

Well, at first you have sticker shock. I mean the most expensive egg breakfast I've had for one plate. You do get enough for 3 people! I don't see how one person can eat a full order of the standard egg dish but they do have half order options too. The iced tea was a skyscraper size.
The Harvest scramble was tasty and did the job. But kinda hard to justify the price. I know we're dealing with inflation but this might be overtop. I did wait 5 mins in line as the process of taking the order for the person in front took a while. Note - you do order at the counter first then sit and wait.
I give it 4 stars as the food is tasty from what I had and the service was good.
