Went to this location a few times when the original was closed down because of a fire. Same quality just not the Roadhouse ambience, still good food and great times. Try the BBQ chicken nice smoky taste.
Getting home at 5pm and with only one hour to spare, I rushed over to Johnny Rebs to check out their happy hour before 6pm.
I like that the bar area is on the outside patio. It was warm during my visit but there was a nice breeze out so being outside was perfect.
My mind was already made up for small plates so I ordered the pig n chips and the fried green tomato pizza with a Coor's Lite. The pulled pork is delicious!!! On appearance, it didn't look like much in terms of portion but there was a decent amount of pulled pork on top of the chips. The meat was soft and the BBQ sauce was very lite. If you've read my previous reviews, I can't stand BBQ sauce that's too over powering so this was great in my opinion.
For the fried green tomato pizza...this was arguably the best veggie pizza I've had in quite some time. I love fried green tomatoes and having it in pizza form was even better. The crust was thin and the pizza was oozing with cheese that doesn't take away from the flavor of the tomatoes. It'll be tough to go back and try their other two pizza's because I do want this pizza again but I also want to try the others which means I'll have to end up ordering more than one when it comes to it. PIZZA FEAST! lol
These two items alone were pleasing which brings my ranking to four stars for now. I'll be making my way back for dinner, brunch and more happy hours. That delicious pizza for $7 and the beer prices are awesome!

Ribs Ribs Ribs. Peanuts! Peanuts! as soon as you walk in:) there everywhere, but don't just stop there grab a seat and order a bite to eat. Lets start with dessert, fried Apple pie that can feed an army with vanilla ice cream. This pie was Amazing( I almost ate the whole thing). Crusty outside, piping hot apple filling which ooze onto the ice cream and meets your mouth for the first time(exhale) Heaven:).I ordered my entree which was: Baby back ribs, along with collard greens and Mac and Cheese. Delicious tender ribs, collard greens season to perfection and mac and cheese hot and moist. I recommend Johnny Rebs, this is a very good restaurant.
Food, service, and environment is amazing. A must.
We went to johnny Rebs' in Bellflower. Outstanding is the best way to describe this place. My wife and I are visiting from arkansas (actually from Texas) and have been to a lot of BBQ joints from Memphis to Austin and this place rates right up there with them. I had the combo with pulled pork and baby ribs. Outstanding. The Cajun rice ranked about a 9 out of 10. The key lime pie was like home made. There were six of us and we all left stuffed. Great place to take your kids and throw your peanut shells on the floor. As for cost, it was on par with any BBQ joint I eat at in Little Rock or Austin. Finally, the service was a 10 out of 10. So, I highly recommend Johnny Rebs' in Bellflower.
Down Home Cooking. Johnny Rebs' is one of those down home restaurants where you can get some real southern cookin'. It's a no frills/casual place where you can eat food and have sticky fingers afterwards. The decor is rustic with wood everywhere you look.
Each table has a metal bucket of peanuts in the shell. You can crack them on the table and scoop the remnants on the floor. What a great place to make a mess at your table and it's expected. :)
The menu is mostly bbq for lunch and dinner with other Louisiana and southern dishes such as jambalaya, gumbo and catfish. Breakfast includes grits and biscuits with many of the dishes. I hear that the sweet potato pancakes are amazing and plan to go back one day for breakfast.
On this trip I ordered the BBQ Bowl from the lunch menu. It came with a choice of pork or beef (I got the pork), which covers a pile of cajun rice and choice of black eye peas (this is what I chose) or pinto beans and slathered on top with bbq sauce. In addition to this mounding bowl of food, you also get a choice of hushpuppies, cornbread, or a biscuit. I decided to go with the Swamp Water to drink (lemonade with iced tea). All in all, very tasty and very filling.
Johnny Rebs' reminds me of all the food I can get back in Louisiana when visiting family. And when you come to Johnny Rebs' forget about any diet you're on, because this place is very anti-diet.
Awesome spot reasonable prices decent service excellent food kicking atmosphere Plenty of parking in the rear of restaurant you want to make a strong first impression on a date come here lol
I've come here regularly. Flavor profiles are very consistent. Some of the staff are pretty new, it seems. My daughter and I sat outside. Jenny the bartender is extremely personable and always checks to make sure everything is ok. I had the chicken and waffle. It was slightly too greasy this time. I'd get it again. If you order it, try it with the jalapeno syrup.
Two locations. Same Brand. Different restaurant experiences. The Long Beach Boulevard location is a much smaller location with a more charming midwestern-like atmosphere. The Bellflower location is a much bigger space for families and/or larger parties. Both locations are consistent when it comes to taste; they recently switched the menu up which includes smaller portion sizes and excludes some favorites. But all-in-all, the food is great and the service is good.
If you’re not up for listening to karaoke from patrons while eating and conversing with friends, then avoid this location on certain weekday evenings/nights; the sound can be overwhelming, to say the least.
Best time is for lunch on weekdays or weekends.
Love coming to Johnny Rebs'. Ever since my friend introduced me to JRs' for my bday 14 years ago, I have been coming to get the catfish and eggs or the chicken fried steak and eggs. But today we got the chicken and waffles and tried a few of their new breakfast specials, YUM. Oh and do t forget the fried green tomatoes. But if make it for dinner try the fried chicken, it is great!
I came in desperate for a catfish salad. Place wasn't crowded and Sunday night football was on in the bar. Bartender Brandan was on point with my Grey Goose Lemon Drop. I ordered a fried wings appetizer and they were good and I had the catfish caesar salad and it was good. I tried it blackened but didn't like it and Brandan easily changed it out for fried instead. After that little snag that was no ones fault, I was back in business and everything was great. I could see this becoming a regular Sunday night spot! Mmm mmm good Johnny Rebs 😋❤
Wow now that is some good BBQ! I went with the pulled pork and that N Carolina sauce is no joke!
Great place to enjoy the food from during these times, kudos on service too! So yummy!
