Great breakfast spot! My family was in Bend on vacation. We first stopped at trip advisor’s #1 breakfast place but the wait was over 30 minutes on a Wednesday. We decided to keep driving and we were so lucky to just happen upon the black bear diner. Food was great! The server warned us that we might be waiting a little considering that 3 tables just walked in the door. The wait wasn’t too bad. I recommend the blueberry stuffed French toast it was delicious. The iced coffee was good too. The bathroom was clean and well stocked. Thank you for a great breakfast experience during our family vacation in Oregon!

Come here if you have a big appetite. Serving sizes are pretty big. Food was good we came to this location 2x so it was good enough for a 2nd time around.

We had dinner at the Black Bear Diner on a Saturday night in mid June, 2023. I did a review on another Black Bear in southern California. As such I wasn't going to review this Black Bear in Bend, Oregon. But since they were very similar and different at the same time. It was approximately 6PM when we arrived. I was wanting to try the prime rib they have on Friday and Saturdays. They do not list the price, so you must ask. I guess they want to be like Lobster and go with a market price or something. Anyway, we were seated promptly and had a very good server. I couldn't order the prime rib because he informed me that they had already ran out. It seemed early to run out, but it is what it is. The diner itself was pretty quiet with only a few tables including us. So our food came out very quickly. Our dinners were both very good and like last time, we had trouble eating the large portion. It kills me not to be able to take the left overs and enjoy them later. But it's not practical when traveling. The diner was themed in the similar Bear fashion. Although they were different it their on way. The had their own bare spots compared to others. Yeah, that was pretty bad. The decor which went over well the last time, also went over well. As I said, there were differences between franchises. But they stayed pretty close to the bear print. Yes there were plenty of bears both inside and out. And besides having decent food, that's what has the charm of this bear theme. Anyway, the place looked clean anywhere we looked. And even though the wife said the women's room was pretty clean. They were cleaning the restrooms when we left. So I figure that they probably keep them up pretty good. Anyway, the Black Bear was similar in most ways, but a little different to differentiate itself. The food was good even if I didn't get the prime rib.

The Shrimp n fries were crispy with a flavorful breading that didn't even need dipping sauce. Chicken Fried Steak n eggs with fresh baked biscuit and gravy was delicious! Even the ranch dip was yummy! We come here often and are never disappointed! My only complaint is that they need to hire another server, the only 2 there both times we went were overly busy which created long wait times. Our server, Lee, was friendly and worked hard to scramble keeping everyone happy.

Food was good, bacon and cheddar hamburger was delicious, the salad was decent. The people were super nice, the bear clawed chicken didn’t have much flavor the gravy was decent. The dip try tip didn’t have much flavor, but it was decent.

One of our favorite place to go for brunch! Their loaded potato was great. So was slider and pancakes. We went on a Sunday and it was busy. This branch seem understaffed compared to number of customers that day. We got our coffee but there was no silverware or spoon. Only few half n half. We asked for spoon and creamer. But the server got overwhelmed with other things and forgot to bring one. I wish they had wooden stick in their table to mix coffee. Despite small inconvenience, we enjoyed our food.

Classic diner fare in Bend! If you're looking for a diner-style meal with a large range of options, Black Bear is a perfect stop. Food and service are consistently good and I've never had to wait for a table.

The food was amazing. Ruben was one of the best I've had. Fries were so fresh. Will definitely be back. The breakfast that others were ordering will be my next thing to order.

Labor day morning, the bend location was packed with people and yet they had it staffed so well that we got in and out quickly. The manager seemed to be working extremely hard with his crew. Our server Carey provided excellent service and the food was delicious!
