Pastries are out of this world good especially the caramel apple tart. It is off the beaten path but worth the trip in my opinion. They serve sandwiches and salads as well. Their bread is sooooo good.
Breadsticks. If nothing else, their Parmesan breadsticks are worth the stop. The Parmesan and pepper combo make them addicting. A favorite of my kids who usually consider "pepper" too spicy. Nice staff working the counter. Location is a little off the beat and path.
Amazing Bread!. I haven't been into the bakery to try their sandwiches yet, but I got a loaf of Black Butte Porter Bread at the Farmer's Market and it is amazing. Just like we used to get in Germany. If you like hearty breads this is the place to go. And the woman running the stand was so nice. She gave my daughter and I a free scone, which was amazing as well. Slightly sweet and perfectly baked. I can't wait to go into the actual bakery and try some of the sandwiches and salads. BTW, their menu is on their Facebook page. That's the only place I could find it online.
We just visited the Village Baker in Bend today for lunch. What amazing sandwiches!! The sandwiches were fresh, delicious, healthy and well put together. The service was great. The employees were friendly and even cut up our two different sandwiches into halves for us to share. We purchased two loaves of bread to take home and we ate some as soon we returned back to Idaho. I can already tell the bread won't last long. The Village Baker is a must stop when you're in Bend.
I have been coming to village baker for years and I love it!! The chicken salad sandwich i craze everyday! The lemon poppyseed shortbread cookie as well as tomato basil soup with a rosemary roll are amazing. The customer service can be quite rude and sometimes dry pastries but this place still is one of my favorites!
Great bakery and fresh stuff , we escaped a very bad breakfast experience in our hotel to find this gem.
Great bread and bagels , great pastries. And we also got sliced sourdough that was fresh and tasty.
I came for bagels because someone else mentioned bagels, but to clarify THERE ARE NOT BAGELS HERE. Maybe there are if you want to bake them yourself or something. I wanted bagels for breakfast so I didn't try the food, five stars by default.

Village Baker is one the best gems Bend has to offer! I can honestly say that I have never tried a product from here that wasn't amazing. The breads are real if that makes sense... they have body. They have crust. The different varieties will compliment any meal. I especially love the Black Butte Porter. The flavor is amazing. Pastries are so delicious without being sugar loaded. They way they use fruit and other ingredients to enhance these creations is perfection. Village Baker's cookies are amazing as well, especially the short breads. I also love and appreciate the lunch menu. They have the best sandwiches, salads, and soups. Nothing else lime it around. There's a reason why VB has been around for over 25 years and that's obviously the love of what they do, and the quality of the product proves it.
If you are wanting to try them out, get in early as they do have quite the following and sell out of product.
Best bakery in town..Yes even better than the bird place.. I visited every bakery in Bend in one day and tried a selection from every location. Every location had good bakes, but for truly well crafted bread and pastries. Village bakery deserves a visit..
Maybe the best sandwich in town, try the roast beef. Tomato basil soup is incredible and all of the bread and pastries are incredible. They even have take and bake stuff so you can make guests think you are kitchen capable.
Too many great things to say! A local favorite, we miss them on the East side of town but highly recommend for Lunch. They have excellent salads, sandwiches and the best tomato basil soup! They have a variety of breads to go as well.
This place is Amazing! Everything is delicious and I mean Everything! The people who work here represent the old school feeling of Bend. You want to experience old Bend’s westside vibe go here eat and enjoy! Thank you Village Baker you will always be my favorite !

We LOVE Village Baker. They have been one of our go-to spots since we moved to Bend seven years ago. Their delicious made from scratch food is something my whole family enjoys. The fact that they have not missed a beat during the insanity of Covid-19 is amazing. Keeping normal business hours and stepping up to support local school kids with packed lunches and giving out yeast on Friday's. The review by Nathan seems rather harsh considering it is based on one experience. Their staff has always been super-friendly, but if he was not feeling the love one day during a pandemic how about giving them the benefit of the doubt and not a one star review. You were lucky to find a place willing to make you the delicious treats and food you ate. Be grateful...we are. Thanks Village Bakers for being awesome, and yes even you are allowed to have an off day or off experience with a customer. We forgive you.
Favorite sandwich shop. Everything is delicious. Thank you Village Baker for supporting kids with meals during the pandemic as well. Happy to support a business who cares about our community. Take & Bake items are my favorite way to simplify holiday meals.
Best bakery in Bend. The Black Butte Porter bread is amazing. The bread sticks are incredible. It's all good here. You literally can't go wrong no matter what you get.
We've been going there for 14 years! The soup,sandwich's,breads and pastries are all amazing. During this lock down they continue to smile and have been giving away/donating sandwich's and dinners to need childern and families. They are truly a joy in this community

My wife and I stopped in for lunch. We had the tomato soup with rose mary bread. It was delicious! I also had a mixed berry scone, I've tried the scones all over town and I think that was the best one so far.
