My friends and I enjoyed lunch on a relatively quiet winter weekday. Although the service was not quick (we arrived just after two larger groups), the food arrived piping hot. My chicken quesadilla was topped with a pleasantly spicy drizzle. The fish, of the fish and chips, had noticeably flavored coating. The Doghouse Burger came on a real kaiser roll which stood up to the juicy burger. This place strives for dive bar ambience but is far too clean, and with too well-made food.
Nice cool little dive bar, a lot of college kids go here. Cheap $5 beer which I was happy with. Good service even though it was busy on a Friday night
Went to watch the World Cup Final. WOW, what a game. Had some irish coffee to start the morning, add two Raging B*tch beers. Good atmosphere. Their fries are decent too. The service was fast and consideret. Sat at the bar and had great view of the tv screen. They have plenty of screens around the place, awesome sports pub.
This Place Was Awesome! We went and did the tourist DC area and ended our adventure at this local bar, and it was perfect. Nothing beats the neighborhood bar with the local charm. Stephanie behind the bar was fantastic. She was super friendly, asked where we were from, and we had great chats. The food is what you expect from the local bar greasy spoon style with great flavor.
If I lived in the area, that would be my local stomping ground.
Very popular spot in Bethesda. Great service, good food and great ambience. You never know who you will see there.
Awesome bar! I was here for a friend's pre-wedding dinner and we had a huge party. The employees were really accommodating and spent a bunch of time reorganizing tables to fit all of us. I think we might have been a pain because we kept asking them to move the tables around but they helped us out anyways, much appreciated.
Besides the excellent service, the food was great too! They have a pretty standard selection of bar food (wings, nachos, burgers, quesadillas, fries, tater tots, etc.) but everything was really well made. Not overly greasy like a lot of bars. We got a little bit of everything and I can't think of a single dish that was not very good. Favorites in our party were pretty much anything with the crab dip.
I definitely recommend this place if you are in the area and I would come back if I'm ever visiting. Great bar!
Great old fashioned “dive bar” in the best sense. Not the least bit uptight or pretentious. Big diversity of clients. Very entertaining. The owner Bob, is a perfect party host making sure everyone is happy and well served. Definitely worth a stop in any Bethesda bar hopping night. You may hang till closing time.
Terrific spot to relax a bit and get some food and beer. Great atmosphere, friendly vibe, good beer and decent food. Oliver was great, thanks for being so welcoming.
A few fights, occasionally see someone passout and fall off of the stools. A proper bar In the best sense... and they have Natty Bo!
Normally great service, last visit on 10/19/23 was very disappointing. After I got my beer and meal the waitress never came back to check how everything was or if I wanted another beer.
Great neighborhood bar. Good drink specials and service. Really enjoy the food as well especially the cheesesteak. Best bar in Bethesda no question!

I come to Bethesda once a year from Kansas and this is a must do stop every time...atmosphere is great, service is fantastic, and the crowd is always fun...make it a must for you too!
A gem in the city. Dave bar done right, great food, great staff, cheap beer, and friendly environment. I put 3 for the atmosphere because it's not everyone's scene.
This may quickly become my go to place in Bethesda. Classic rock on the audio, loads of draft beers, a good menu and friendly staff. We went early about 6 pm on Friday and there was no seating problem but by 7pm it was getting busy but not SRO. Good place convenient to hotels (walking)

Stopped in for lunch on a Friday afternoon and had very quick service! Menu had a great variety to choose from. I had the Buffalo hot wings and they were delicious! Very well seasoned, crunchy, and were fully coated in the Buffalo sauce! Overall had a good experience and definitely would come back for the wings. 😋
The Barking dog is a definite must if you find yourself in Bethesda, We were served by the very lovely Laura from Holland, who kept us completely refreshed with beer and food and smiles, the food was superb, and both food and beer were very reasonably priced. The bar has a great atmosphere with lively music and banter happening all around, definitely the spot to go.
