I couldn't say enough great things about Fancy Cakes! It's run by Megan now who just did an incredible job with our wedding cake. Her attention to detail was above and beyond and it was exactly what we pictured. Everyone loved it too and told us it was one the best they've had at a wedding! 10/10 recommend :)

The cake is amazing and the baked goods are so fabulously delicious and they look great! The chocolate cupcakes with chocolate buttercream are a family fave. The sticky buns that are only made on weekends are my favorite in the area. The cookies are just the right level of chewy and crunchy. I go to every bakery in the area and this has become my go to in Bethesda. This high quality bakery really makes a memorable moment better. You won’t regret going.

Wish this place was closer to where I live in Towson, MD. They did an amazing job on a anniversary cake I asked them to make. They also made additions to said cake on at the time of pick up. Also picked up a lemon square and their massive chocolate chip cookies, both were extremely delicious. With that being said, they are on the pricier side but they you get what you pay for. Would recommend them for any occasion. Great job guys

I used Fancy Cakes for my son's first birthday cake and could not have been happier! It was a cinco de mayo themed party and the design was exactly what I had in mind. The cake was gorgeous and really delicious. The baby was also a huge fan!

I worked with Fancy Cakes by Leslie for my wedding last May. It was such a smooth and easy process, and they were extremely responsive. If you're not won over during the cake sampling part, I can't help you. There are so many options to choose from and they have a beautiful gallery if you're unsure of what design you want. The day of the wedding was seamless and to make it easier, they worked directly with the reception venue and florist (fresh florals were added to the cake the day of) so I could enjoy my day. The icing on the cake (pun intended) - we got a complimentary smaller version of our wedding cake for our 1-year anniversary. I highly recommend them!

We just enjoyed the best cake from Fancy Cakes! We ordered a cake to celebrate my mother-in-law’s birthday and not only was the cake very elegant and perfectly decorated, but it tasted great! Everyone loved it. We almost always get our cakes from Fancy Cakes and we will continue to get them there! Not only are the specialty cakes wonderful, but they always have a nice selection to ready to go treats waiting.

Megan and her staff were attentive to every detail, because we wanted three different theme cakes for our daughter’s birthday (including a cake that was of larger size, but specifically not a sheet cake). Did not disappoint. The coconut cream cake was terrific. Design and appearance stunning. The peanut butter brownies absolutely perfect. Staff, especially Meghan, were helpful. They were professional , efficient and I was thrilled with service. All who had the cake loved it.

Leslie and team produced a beautiful and delicious wedding cake for us back in 2014. Motherhood hit me soon after the wedding, so I'm writing the review now. Even the top tier cake was amazing 1 year later. My guests packed up the cake and there was nothing left for us, and we were crushed. BUT thank goodness for the top tier which we had for our 1 yr anniversary. Leslie was amazing to work with, pleasant, and of course personally delivered the cake to the reception.

Our experience with Fancy Cakes by Leslie ended up being great. The wedding cake was top 3 of my most important things next to my dress and the party, so we ended up trying 6 different bakeries, some of them two or three times to make sure i didn't catch them on a bad day. So obviously I am a cake snob and I was on the hunt for a moist and flavorful cake, plus a light and fluffy icing that wasn't too sugary, and a great design. Most of the bakeries we tried the cake was too dry and/or lacking flavor, or the icing was too sugary or tasted articifical. We luckily found the perfect combination of a moist and flavorful almond cake at Fancy Cakes with a light italian meringue icing. We choose a caramel filling and it all tasted amazing at the tasting. I was disappointed on the wedding day that the caramel was soaked up into the cake so it wasn't as prevalent -- I wish I had known this was a risk, but it still tasted great. I took a gamble on their design -- a lot of their featured cakes looked cartoony, and we wanted a mix of modern, traditional and artistic. Mary was great and she definitely delivered. We got married in an industrial art gallery and our cake was so elegant and modern and fit in perfectly with our theme. They should add that picture to their gallery because it's a great representation of what they can pull off. Pricing was reasonable and affordable and we were so happy with the result. I am so excited to go back on our one-year anniversary for a complimentary freshly baked top tier!

Fancy Cakes by Leslie is awesome! I can't say enough good things about it. My maiden voyage to the Bethesda shop included a lemon raspberry cupcake chosen among a wide variety of chocolate-laden cupcakes. The cupcake was a bit pricey ($3.85) compared to it's competitor's price of $2.75 (Georgetown Cupcake, you may have heard of it...) but it was money well spent. The service was fast, friendly and knowledgeable. My cupcake tasted like angels wings and the frosting exceptionally airy and light. I would definitely go back but would prefer its competitor due to price, variety and availability.

I ordered a cake from Leslie in 2015. It was creative and Leslie. It was a customized cake initiated from designs the rep had in a book. It was a lemon cake and icing for a surprise birthday party. Even the fondant was sweet and tasty also. They were professional and the cake was completed on time without any issues. I leave this review after so long because I had the pleasure of experiencing another one of Leslie's creations. It was a custom cake for an officer's graduation from the academy. It was awesome. Again the fondant was even worth eating (I notice many ppl don't eat it). The cake was a decadent chocolate with layers of cake, chocolate mousse, and ganache. Everyone was impressed with the presentation and the taste. I highly recommend.

UPDATE: The owner, Leslie, was kind enough to message me clarifying the hazelnut cookies. They are made with several nuts, which is expensive. Rather than removing them from the menu, she had to raise the prices since people love them. It is a good cookie! Fancy Cakes by Leslie has some good offerings. I hear their cakes are great, but their pastries are hit or miss. I've had their nutella cookies and it's good, but costs way too much for a tiny cookie. Their chocolate chip cookie is fine and their red velvet cake AMAZING!

I reached out to Fancy Cakes by Leslie 2 days before Thanksgiving, which is also my mother n law and her twin sisters birthday! Our first option Creative Cakes, which was closer to where I live, told me they could make the cake via email, but when I called to complete the order I was told they could no longer accommodate us. I was panicked! BUT Mary and team saved the day making a custom lemon buttercream cake with red fondant ribbons and a beautiful gold bow on top! It was gorgeous and tasted delicious! My family is STILL talking about the cake so I had to write a review. Thank you Mary and team! ****AND when I picked up the cake, I bought two lemon bars. They were soooo good! :)

Adorable cupcakes although on the small side. Leslie was there when we dropped by and she was very friendly. My daughter got a smores bar and I got a lemon square. I would have liked the lemon square to be bit more tart but that's a personal preference. Her desserts are not overly sweet. We also got a large meringue and this lady makes it perfectly. Crisp on the outside and slightly chewy on the inside.
