One of our new FAVORITES! Don’t know about breakfast, but have eaten lunch on their patio... very peaceful next to the lake and had the best Kobe Burger ever. My family recently enjoyed dinner there as well. Very reasonable prices and excellent food, a real treat. There are only a few restaurants in Big Bear worthy of 5 stars, the Pines is one of them.
This is an amazing restaurant with an breathtaking view of Big Bear Lake. The owner and manager are very accommodating. They welcomed my friends and I with open arms! We will definitely come again
Great food, chicken pot pie was delish!!!
Service was outstanding for our large group. Highly recommend
This restaurant has the best setting and the best food in town. Jerry and John make you feel like a VIP from the moment you step through the doors. The Kobe burger is peerless and they use top quality cuts for all their entrees.
The food is exceptional, the view is amazing, and the wait staff was attentive during our meal. We will definitely be returning every vacation we take to Big Bear!

We ended our day here after a celebration of life. A very warm(cozy) atmosphere and a beautiful outdoor scene. The owner was very friendly as well as the wait staff and bartenders. prime rib, salad and dessert were all great! Thank you for making our day extra special. We will be back!
Good food and service. Beautiful lake view dining all at an affordable price.
The ambiance of the room is wonderful. Very classy without being pretentious and a very friendly environment. Strangers smile and actually talk to each other. Everything I've had from the menu has been superb. They also have live music every Thursday night.
This is by far the best restaurant in Big bear. Me and my boyfriend absolutely love this place and have to go anytime were up there. The service is amazing and the food is super fresh and delicious. Jerry (the owner) and his wife make the experience the best. It has a great view when sitting outside and the music pulls it all together:)
We were promptly seated wife and I had mushroom appetizer very good, it came.out hot and yummy. My wife had the mushroom chicken with garlic mash potatoes, a little heavy with the sauce. I had the New Zealand rack of lamb. The lamb was supposed to be medium but came out a little charred. Over all meal was good. Ordered a full rack but delivered a half rack and rightly charged. Stephanie apologized but no worries all was good. Thank you Pines for a great date night
Recently went for a friends birthday dinner, the Elk was very good and the atmosphere and decor was great, the service was amazing with the exception of a server who dropped my soup spoon, told me he would return with another then never gave me the spoon until I was able to flag him down 10 minutes later which by then the soup was not as hot as it was when it was served. That being said our waiter was very friendly and had amazing customer service, and the woman who was singing was also incredibly friendly. 9.5/10 would come here to eat again next time I’m in Big Bear.
Great food! Super attentive service on my birthday. Amazing meal of wild game and creme brulee to top it off.
After some of the crazy wait times we had over the weekend in the village, we decided to come here on Sunday evening around 6:45. The restaurant is located on a beach along the lake. There were a number of dinner parties enjoying their food. We were seated promptly and an employee brought a high chair over for our 9-month old. A basket of delicious ciabatta bread arrived accompanied by house churned herb butter. Our friendly server, Jake, took our drink and food order. We had the New York steak dinner and the prime rib dinner. Our house salads arrived first. Our dinner plates arrived and the food was hot and plated with care. The prime rib was tender and juicy and served with a delicious horseradish sauce. The New York steak was juicy and served with a peppercorn sauce. A gentleman named Jerry arrived to give our daughter a stuffed animal and made sure we were enjoying our meal. The staff was attentive and friendly. This was the best meal I’ve ever had in Big Bear and we will surely be back.
Great place for breakfast. Ordered the rib eye and eggs. My steak was perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked medium rare. Tender and juicy. We dined outside. Wish it was closer to the lake but it's a short 100 yards maybe to the shoreline. The wait staff were all very friendly
Kind and accommodating staff. The Pines hosted our wedding dinner when many other restaurants in Big Bear declined due to staffing issues. Food, service, and patio seating were great. We loved continuing our wedding celebration with The Pines, thank you for the memories.
Came here today with my family of 4. We had reservations at 4. Very nice and elegant spot sitting by the lake. Our host, and server were very nice even the busboy. We got 2 pasta dishes and 2 Kobe cheeseburgers. Pasta dishes were both very nice, pasta was al dente sauce was creamy and smooth. Burgers were VERY juicy and cooked to temp. Service was very nice as well. We had a great experience! Left with full stomachs and to go boxes! Very nice portions too
Fantastic family dining experience! Best Chicken Marsala I have ever tasted. Hubby’s ribs were falling off the bone and so yummy we all had to taste it. The New York steak was perfect and oh those mashed potatoes! We all enjoyed the bread and butter served before our meal and the kids’ portions were very generous with real ice cream treats for dessert included. The sunset hour from their patio was spectacular! We can’t wait to go back!
Great view of the lake. Food is top-notch. Service was very good as well. Market prices on most menu items. Lots of surf and turf options. They also have a wild game menu that fits the vibe of the establishment. Will be going their again.
I was hesitant about coming here due to some of the comments, but in my opinion, just not fair. First of all, this is a resort town and with resort clientele which means you get all types so can’t blame staff for being blunt about that. I’ve been the bad customer and know it takes a lot to handle me so always appreciate it when staff have to be nice. It firm :) anyway, wasn’t the case here as I was dead sober walking in and just wanted to watch the football game, have a adult meal, with adult drinks. The views were not bad either. Service was really attentive and good to great. Greeted us as we walked in and when I said I was looking for a bar, with the football games, have a view of the lake but also need a kid friendly menu, he didn’t blink and gave me a few options which was cool. We ended up settling in the bar where the bartender was also our server, but might have been the best decision I made all weekend. Great drinks, food and view of the TV (lake too if you wanted) where I didn’t care who won but was able to watch in peace with my drink and some food.
Good place to watch the sunset.
Service was a little questionable at times, but it was good. I would consider it a "nice" restaurant but not a "fine dining", service should've been sharper & more attentive (I was stacking my dishes, when instead of chatting it up in the back, 1 of the 5 people I saw could've come to clear)
Bacon Wrap Scallops were delicious! I was trying to figure out the sauce (tasted like a demi sauce but not at the same time) I enjoyed the extra crispy bacon & the sweet, tenderness of the Scallops.
Steamed artichoke was a disappointment. Looks good but it was bland!! The butter wasn't helping it & neither was the Dijon aioli.
1/2 Rack N.Z Lamb now that was delicious! I questioned it when it came out only because it didn't have a texture I'm used to seeing on lamb. But the meat was so tender & not gamey.
The food was very good. The atmosphere was very nice. Except for one good teenager, the servers and probably the owner or whoever hires people seriously need to attend major training--starting with the rudimentary basics--on how to treat guests who come to a restaurant of this price.
Not sure why this restaurant doesn't have a higher rating! My fiancé and I came here for our engagement dinner and it was outstanding. The view was incredible. I ordered moscato and the chicken teriyaki and both were excellent. My fiancé ordered cabernet sauvignon and chicken alfredo and he enjoyed both. We are glad we chose this restaurant for such a special event in our lives! I also want to say the staff and waiter we had went above and beyond for us. Thank you, Pines at Lakefront for such a wonderful evening!!
Came here for lunch with a large group of family. We were all impressed with the food and quick service. The sandwiches and salads were amazing. The salads are definitely worth getting as they are large portions.
We have been here 2 times for breakfast. Food is wonderful and the service excellent. Beautiful view of the lake and mountains. Also nice not to have the usual Big Bear weekend crowds. Highly recommend.
