I travel more then most and have lived on both coasts, this sushi is the best sushi I have ever had! Hawaii, Charleston, New York, still have not had any experience that was as wonderful as this! I make it a must go every time I am in town. The experience is worth any wait time. Every roll unique and made well! Absolutely a must go if you are visiting and a staple if you live there. If you are looking for the best sushi and a good experience, Nara is the place to go!
They only thing wrong with this place is that it is where I had sushi for the very first time...and it's ruined me to eat it any where else! We travel a lot, and nothing ever compares. We find ourselves rushing to Nara as soon as we step foot in town!! This is a family owned restaurant with custom made rolls, and it's like no other I have ever been to. It's not a quickie dining stop, if you want that go buy the packaged sushi from the grocery store (yuck!). Either plan get there early, or sit back with a glass of beer or wine and enjoy the conversation, while you watch the sushi chef create his masterpieces. He is always experimenting and coming up with new ideas for rolls, giving Nara its contemporary feel, while Mom is cooking up the best dang traditional Korean food you will find here in the states. If you don't know what to order, just ask some of the locals at the Sushi bar, most of them come in daily and you will not be led astray! Try the Rolling Red, Crunchy Salmon, Spicy Tuna, or you might just get lucky and he will have some of my favorite, Seared Tuna (shhhh it's a secret!). If you are looking for a true Sushi Dining Experience, don't miss out on this place, you'll definitely be sorry you did!
I have been traveling to Billings for work for over 10 years and luckily found this sushi gem on a chance 8 years ago. Located in an old filling station I was skeptical when I first walked up but what a very pleasant surprise, fantastic sushi and even better people!! The fish is excellent, the portions are large and the Timmy's roll (my favorite) is a spicy tuna roll on steroids, delicious! You have to try the crunchy salmon as well. Dae, the sushi chef, is amazing and always creating new items to try with specials on the board that tickle the tongue. He is great for a few laughs and always engaging with his patrons. Very friendly staff as well. I travel all over the western half of the US and this is by far my favorite restaurant of all and I visit quite a few. Every night that I am in town I am at the bar and never disappointed. If you are anywhere near Billings it is worth the trip to stop in and get #sushiwasted!
Tonight we stepped in on this lovely restaurant and they were absolutely slammed. Wall to wall, with only one two top. We settled in for a nice long (and well worth it) wait. Surprise, surprise! No wait! The server staff and kitchen was on it like doggone it. Drinks and water were always topped off, the food was served quickly (and tasted amazing, as always). As slammed as they were tonight, NaRa absolutely nailed it tonight. The new Karate Kidd roll was crazy good!
Best place in town to eat. Always something new- the rolls are huge and why some people say they are pricey, they are SO worth it. If you haven't been here before give in a try. Sushi is my favorite but I also enjoy the noodles and other Korean dishes. Love this place!
Love this place, best sushi in the 406. I would say the only place to go for sushi in Billings.
THE best sushi in town. We got in on the "Buy 2 get 1 free" deal and had to take home the 3rd roll because we were stuffed after 2, and that's NEVER happened anywhere else!! I honestly think the price is actually better than other places; 3 rolls, soup, a microbrew and sake for $43, pretty cheap for a very nice dinner in my opinion!
Friendly staff, delicious food! Usually a busy, hopping place, I don't mind the wait since I usually bring good company
Great atmosphere. Plus it's the Best place for sushi hands down, along with many other amazing choices on their menu. On top of all that the staff is always so friendly and inviting. Absolutely love this place!
Great sushi, excellent staff! Even when busy, its worth the small wait!
Food is amazing, service is always spot on and I love sitting at the sushi bar and just watching... there is not a single sushi place in town that holds a candle to Nara
My favorite local sushi spot. Anything with spicy tuna is awesome for me. Nacho roll is awesomely unique, but have never been dissatisfied with anything. If you go, don't be in a rush, enjoy the atmosphere and superb attention to detail they put into their food. It's worth it even on the busiest of days. Staff is awesome and its awesome to have conversations with the sushi chef making your food (turns out to be the owner!). Sushi coma! Now that I am salivating it from thinking about it, I hope it will be my lunch tomorrow.
I would actually give this place a 10 out of 5!! Best place in Billings and best Sushi I have ever had in my life! Never had anything bad there ever! Dae always seems to know exactly what I want. Have and will continue to come here for years to come! Nara will always be #1 in my books!! #sushiwasted #Nara #Daeisagod
Food was fantastic, family Homestyle atmosphere if you're in the neighborhood definitely worth stopping in
NaRa has some of the best sushi I've ever had. I ordered their Alpine roll, the jalapeños added a perfect spiciness and crunchiness. My mother ordered the Spider roll, and the shrimp in it REALLY pulled the roll together deliciously.
Frankly, I'm not even a big sushi fan. But the crunchiness makes it so perfect.
We had excellent service from our hostess, and if you're looking for good sushi and gyoza then this is the place for you. ♡
Although, for some reason on Friday their kitchen meals were shut down. No problemo for us though, we still left happy!
The staff is always very kind. I usually go here in the evenings and there's usually been a 10-15 minute wait. There is a sushi bar, but I think you still have to be seated at it since I've walked up to it on my own and sat 5+ minutes without being acknowledged, until I went and got someone. I'd also say that part of the wait time has been due to tables not being cleaned off for 5+ minutes after customers left. It's not like the staff was standing around chit-chatting though, just very busy. The rolls are more expensive than a lot of other places but they are the best I've had not just in billings but many places in California. I definately love coming here when I feel like spending a bit more, it's worth it.
Sashimi is the freshest you can get in Billings. Trust me, I've been to every sushi joint in town multiple times. You do pay for the quality, but the quality makes it worth it.
The staff was good, and so was the food.
Best sushi in Billings Montana. Friendly hostesses that are always smiling and take good care of everyone.
The sushi chefs are amazing and what they make is art it's almost a shame to eat it.
If you want good sushi in Montana this is the place to go.
Prices are good for what you get. Haven't tried the sake but I'm told it's good.
Best sushi in Billings, HANDS DOWN 🙏🏽🔥😍🤤
