Walked in and wasn't expecting so much white everywhere. It was like Waffle House meets The Jetson's. The menu has a good variety. The flavor of the food though was lacking in my opinion. Even my 3 year old daughter said her pancakes were "nattee" (nasty). Service was okay, nothing spectacular though. I can't say I wouldn't return, but I'd check Waffle House's wait first before I did.

Over Easy is one of the best breakfast spots we have here in Birmingham. The food is of the highest quality and I could not think of many better breakfast restaurants. The atmosphere is very nice and the location is great! I would HIGHLY recommend making Over Easy a must stop location if you are in the mood for a really good breakfast.

I considered a smokehouse that we could see from our hotel room, but googled instead for the best breakfast in Birmingham and found Over Easy was both well rated and close by. We pulled up to a packed restaurant, in the Mountain Brook area, on Hollywood right by 280. We went inside and put our name in the hat and waited. They were so busy that the wait list included the counter – for a change I was glad not to sit at the counter, as the stools looked really low. Their slogan is “For People Who Love Breakfast” – I fit that bill.

Went to Over Easy for breakfast. It was the best breakfast I've had in a long time. Got the Italian Benedict. Blue polenta cake topped with crispy proscuitto, a most lovely poached egg and fresh pesto. My son got Huevos Rancheros. I don't even like huevos racheros but it was freaking delicious. The service was top notch. Didn't want for anything but waiter was not intrusive or too chatty. Color me impressed with this place.

Went on Mother's Day. Host was very friendly and seated us after a brief wait, due to being busy. Our server was very quick to take drink and food orders and refilled our drinks very promptly. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time (around 15 minutes or so) given the fact that it was a holiday and they were slammed. The food was excellent and portion sizes were more than sufficient. A great value for the money.

Thank Heavens for Hash baskets etc.. I have been coming to Over Easy since it opened! As a frequent solo flyer I am fond of the "counter culture". The wait times are pretty ridiculous but the breakfast and those short order cooks are fab! And then there is Sue. The hostess and waitress who always has a kind word, knows what I want without asking and can dish a snarky comment with finesse at the best moment. She's sassy and funny and always a hoot! Reminds me of the cheeky high end reatautant waitresses in New York! She always makes me feel like I'm welcome. The regulars love her and her way with the kids is awesome! All the staff is personable like that. Try the oatmeal banana pancakes-they aren't in the menu but they rock! I hope people stop griping about the wait. OE has been open for several years and the wait is always long. If people haven't figured out its worth it by now, oh well. Bring a friend or a paper and relax! As for me, well I'll probably still be sitting at the counter chatting with Sue and people watching with great food fare!

Service horrible. Sunday am so there was about a 30-35 minute wait. Figured that. When we were seated, an unsmiling, unfriendly waitress plopped down water and took our drink order. Got it fairly quickly and gave our food order. I honestly don't recall her ever speaking to us. She came back a couple of times and refilled coffee, still didn't speak or smile. After waiting over 30 minutes we spoke to the hostess as she walked by. Within a couple of minutes someone brought our food (daughters was cold) and we're told our waitress had to go home! I guess we'd still be sitting there if we hadn't spoken up! My food was good, still hot, but honestly I doubt I will ever go back. Sorry, Another Broken Egg is just down the street and has good food AND good service. Judging from many other reviews I am guessing the manager doesn't care.

Good food, long wait. We were at Over-Easy on Sunday for two hours. The hostess told us a thirty minute wait and it ended up being forty five minute wait. Once we were seated and ordered we had to wait for our basic breakfast meals a long time again. Good food, but not worth the two hour process.

Terrible service. Waited quite a while for our server to come the table. When she came, she wanted to get us something to drink, but I insisted she take our food order. No telling how long it would have taken her to get around to taking our order. Never got a coffee refill. Shame great place good food, but horrendous service!

One thing bothering me.. Where is the manager?? I went here a couple of weekends ago and saw multiple people having to hunt the manager down to find out what was happening. This was on a Sunday. I assume this is their busy time. The manager should be all over the place making sure the place ran smoothly. This wasn't the case. One guy had to wait for him to come out of his office while the restaurant crashed and burned. Right before that a large groups order was wrong. Each time he was hiding and not helping. I really like the food and the staff are always nice. Never once in all my trips there have I even seen the manager. Just wondering.

Likely won't go back. Food is very good. Different preparations of old favorites and always quite tasty. But, we've been to Over Easy a number of times and each time we say, "Not again!" To say the service is slow is an undertatement. I generally don't mind waiting on atable and certainly expect that on a Sat. morning, but once seated we've always had to wait at least 45 minutes or longer - once we order(!) - to receive our food. This has been consistent each and every time we've gone. So, instead of a 2 hour dining adventure for breakfast we'll go somewhere else. Hate it as the food is pretty good.

On a hunt for fresh-squeeze orange juice and pancakes at 12:30, Over Easy was the closest place still serving breakfast, so we settled for a 30 minute wait - and boy was it worth it. Service was fast once seated, and the huge glass of fresh juice was perfect for tying me over while we waited for our food. Within 20 minutes I was cutting into the best pancakes I've ever had: the oatmeal gave them a soft, buttery tasting texture, and the strawberry compote on top sealed the deal. My turkey sausage was not dry at all, a danger of cooking with such a fat-free meat, and my eggs were absolutely perfect. I don't know how this place doesn't have a 95% vote! Go!!

We really enjoyed the actual food but at our last visit, we waited over 45 minutes and still did not receive our food. Our waitress did not once apologize and let us know that it was my husbands "fault" for ordering biscuits and gravy as they were out or biscuits. I hate to complain but after our last experience I simply cannot recommend this to my friends or family. We ended up leaving 45 minutes later without having eaten.

Drove thru Birmingham and stopped here for breakfast based on all the good reviews and menu offerings. It did not disappoint. The food here is awesome! I appreciate the organic options and variety of the menu as well. I had the huevos rancheros and they were incredible. Highly recommend giving this place a try. If we lived anywhere near Birmingham we'd be regulars.

This a reply to the previous post about the Heath concerns. First of all I would like to point out how extremely rude it is to walk into a place 1. 2 min before close and 2. To seat yourself. Have you no manners or restaurant etiquette. I am a former employee of Over Easy and I just want to point out that The owner on most days is in the kitchen cooking and busting it trying to make sure everything is running smoothly. Just because you want to make assumptions you should check your facts first. Also one more thing. Those shelves you are so concerned about are cleaned several times a day. I am sorry that white things stain but it does not mean they are dirty. If you don't want to be treated poorly maybe you should try the learning the golden rule.

Service and Health Concerns. I consider myself a regular here, 2-3 times a week for breakfast. However, after my most recent experience, I am done with Over Easy.<br/><br/>Stopped by at 5 til 2 Saturday before last (5/11). We sat down at the bar. They had a full staff and about 20 people eating. The hostess approached us and said, sorry, we are closed. I said really, what time do you close, she said at 2. Baffled, we got up, as we walked outside, pulled out the cell phone and it said 1:57. The hostess actually walked outside and started cleaning the glass. She said "sorry". I said what time are you showing, she said 1:58. And I stated, still not 2. She said she just "did what she was told". With 20 people still in there eating, turning us away was just wrong.<br/><br/>I would talk to the owner, but he would not care. I have talked to him before about some hygiene concerns. He has an absent presence, always in his office playing solitaire and stumbles out now and then to refresh his drink. My previous complaint to him centered on a few hygiene issues. One of them has been corrected, I was having drinks placed down in front of me with the server holding the rim, drinking surface. My other was about the ice, almost all the servers put their hand and glass in the ice maker to scoop the ice directly into the glass instead of using the metal scooper that should be kept outside the ice maker. The other hygiene complaint has to do with their glass storage. All of their glasses are stored face down. If you sit at the counter you can see that the coffee mugs come out clean and are placed face down on faux wood white shelves under the counter. The shelves are dirty and stained. Same for under the pass, where all the drinking glasses are face down on the metal shelves. The stainless backdrop has water and grease stains. Obviously, the glasses need to be put on rubber bar mats which are washed daily. Like I said, I talked to the owner about this 3 months ago with no correction. No reason for me to believe that he will care that I was turned down for service today.<br/><br/>The food here is above average but pricey. I spend 12-15 each time I am in for my breakfast and coffee. I guess business is so good that they don't care about losing folk. Turning us away? Won't have to worry about that again.

Nom, Nom, Nom. A friend took me to Over Easy for brunch. First it was hard to decide what to get. It all sounded wonderful. We finally decided to share a short stack of the steel cut oatmeal pancakes. OMG! I didn't need butter or syrup. I could have even a dozen of these.<br/>Then I had the two eggs breakfast. Two scrambled eggs, crispy hash browns, a marvelous biscuit, and crunchy thick cut bacon. Taste buds heaven for a southern gal. <br/>The coffee reminded me of New Orleans style coffee so I wasn't crazy about that but other wise Yum!

Hash Baskets became Hash Wads. The hash basket was the symbol of everything good about Over Easy. Delicate, crispy baskets filled with your choice of cheese and meat plus an egg and creme fraiche. At some point, they got sloppy and just started making hash wads. The biscuits haven't held up in the changes, either. I'm imagining you lost a cook, but he/she was a great one, and I wish you'd try to find that level of quality again.

Over Easy to Love. Like my good buddy Anthony Bourdain, I am a total egg slut. And one of my favorite dishes of all time is eggs benedict. The rendition at Over Easy is top notch. It includes the thickest slice of Canadian bacon I’ve ever seen (3x the usual) and a rich, thick, buttery yellow béarnaise that is a little bit unbelievable. I also enjoyed the blue corn grits that are doubly good because they are the wonderful, old style, “stand and stir” grits you can hardly find anymore (even at breakfast places), AND the blue color seriously messes with your head, in a creamy delicious way. I also have it on good authority that the oatmeal pancakes are wonderful, too. The menu options range from ultra light egg whites and turkey sausage to heavier, classic choices, at what I would consider to be a good value, all in a spotlessly white, playful interior. Oh, and the mixed berries that accompany some dishes are FRESH. Oh, and the coffee is great. Waffle House, this ain’t (not that I don’t love WH, too).

Bring your wet suit. Took my mom here on Saturday morning around 10. The place was mobbed. We were told there would be a half hour wait (was more like 20 minutes). When we were led to our table I saw that my chair brushed up against a yellow "wet floor" warning placard. I literally had to move the thing in order to sit down. next to the Wet Floor warning were a bucket and a dishpan, both half full of water. Every few seconds another few drops of water fell from the ceiling, I supposed from faulty A/C ducts. I was afraid I'd finish breakfast with a wet back but the dripping water was confined to the two containers.<br/><br/>Service seems to be spotty. Our waitress took our drink orders the minute we sat down and brought them to us right away. We waited five minutes before she came back to take our order. As busy as they were I didn't really think too much about it until I overheard the mother and two children at the table next to us. She'd been waiting forever to pay her bill. The children were antsy and ready to go. She said, "I'm ready to go, too! I've been ready for twenty minutes! If someone would let me pay for this we could go." Her daughter said, "I thought we were paying for eating, not paying for leaving." the mother, holding the bill and her credit card said, "It's not a breakfast bill it's a ransom note." It was another fifteen minutes before she was able to pay her check and leave. <br/><br/>Meanwhile, at my table we placed our order (bacon & eggs, hash browns, toast for me steel oat pancakes and country ham for Mom). Our food arrived in about 10 minutes. We obviously didn't have the same awful service as the people next to us . . . but we had the exact same server. Go figure. I took a bite of the steel oat pancakes. I'd heard so much about them (supposed to be so much better than regular pancakes) that I had to see what all the hooplah was about. Meh. I won't lie, they're good pancakes. Better than IHOP, but i don't think they deserve all the fanfare I'd been seeing/hearing. Mom ate every last bite however. She usually leaves half of her food on the plate no matter how good it is, so she obviously thought they were something special. Our server dropped off the check while we were still eating and picked it up as soon as put the credit card down. No wait at all. I don't know who was the exception, us, or the table next to us. The food was good, the wait for a table was a bit of a pain but not unbearable, the dripping water so close to the table was unacceptable. they should have put that table out of commission until the leak was fixed. If I'm in the area at breakfast time I'll definitely be back, but I don't think it's worth a special trip.

I agree with a previous reviewer about the poor service. We recently waited over an hour and a half before we even saw morsel of food. They forgot part of our order and they really didn't seem to care too much. And ultimately the food was not worth the price. Our visit was our first time and will be our last.

At one time we loved going to this place, but over the past few months the service (and food) has really gone down hill. Today was the final straw for us; our waitress (who has been terrible every time we've gotten her) was exceptionally bad paying no attention to us whatsoever besides taking our orders and dropping off the check. Not once did she ask if our food was okay or refill our drinks. In fact it was another waitress who noticed the glasses were COMPLETELY empty. I know the restaurant was busy, but it does not take 1.5 hours for customers to eat breakfast food. Save your money, time and peace of mind-- go somewhere else.

What a sham. We waited 30 minutes to be seated because most of the mountain brook rich people were too busy sitting around doing nothing and occupying tables. Then, we get to the table FINALLY and are told that even though there is gluten free bread on the menu, there is no actual consideration given to food prep in relation to wheat cross contamination. Therefore making it IMPOSSIBLE for my family member with celiac disease to eat breakfast. I guess gluten free is the new trendy thing to have on the menu for the rich non working people to be able to say they are on the "gluten free" diet. Thanks for wasting half our day.

Quick service. I was seated within 5 minutes, even though they said the wait would be 20 minutes. And the coffee is good, which is very important to me. Also, the prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere is fun and kid-friendly.

Over Easy isn't re-inviting the egg, nor any of the sides that accompany traditional breakfast fare. But damn did they make it tasty! Honestly, it lookalike a mid-mod Waffle House. Staff was friendly, fast, and the atmosphere is great for a lazy Sunday brunch. Will definitely be returning.

Worst Place Ever.. This place looks good on the outside but inside is a nightmare that I will not be repeating. I had the Monte Cristo which looks good on paper but was awful. The sandwich was served on Sourdough Bread that tasted like I was eating a hot French Toast sandwich minus the sugar topping. The delighful part of the sandwich was the fresh fruit that came with it. The worst part was that it was 10.00 for a sandwich. Whoever goes here needs an electric shock therapy!

This is my second visit. The first time I had a perfect sandwich on a baguette. The bread was deliciously crispy on the outside. Today was a perfect cheddar and spinach omelette. Service was efficient and friendly. This is truly a gourmet diner. I plan to be a regular here.

Average Experience. Visited Over Easy this past weekend and as my review title suggests, it's an ok place with good cuisine, but personally nothing stood out as *amazing* to me. If I had to rate it based on a-typical atmosphere alone, I'd probably delve out 4 or 5 stars out of 5. It's got a small diner feel to it, which is a nice change from the usual restaurants around town, and it's especially noticeable when you cozy up to the counter and enjoy a meal there. Many opportunity to talk it up with a random new friend about the hustle and bustle of the wait staff/cooks, and generally people-watch. But again, my review is based on the food as well, and although I thoroughly enjoyed my selection for the morning - The Fruity Standard (i.e., pancakes with bananas, scrambled eggs and bacon) - it didn't stand out as anything extraordinary, even for such a simple dish. So, my final thoughts concerning Over Easy - I would most certainly not turn down a second visit to the establishment, but I also won't enthusiastically choose it when the hankering for great breakfast food comes a'callin'. But as always, YMMV - give it a shot if you haven't and are particularly curious, and be your own judge. Cheers!

Eggscelent. I really enjoyed Over Easy. The staff was friendly, willing to help switch things out for other items I might enjoy better - and the quality of the food was excellent. Get the chorizo sausage omelet - I can't remember what it's called. It was fantastic. <br/>As for other review where things are slow - can't say that about my experience. I was there with my better half and it was out in less than 15 minutes - piping hot. Didn't try the coffee so can't speak to it. Priced right too - especially compared to the place down the road. Breakfast for two ended up being 18 plus tip. Very good place, will be back.

Been there twice, sat at a table both times, ordered food both times, waited more than an hour both times, and left without eating both times. I believe that they think they have enough business so basically, they don't care. I rather stay home and cook myself (I am a horrible cook) than going there again.

Amazing Place, Amazing Food, Amazing Staff!!. What can I say, we love the place. For years we have been wishing for a breakfast place that would be like some of the great brunch/breakfast places in Atlanta like little 5 points on Sunday after taking the dog to Peidmont park. The menu is unique and everything we have had has been amazing. The staff is wonderful, friendly, and great at what they do. They are extremely busy after 9am, so get thier early if you don't want to wait, but if you like people watching and the wait doesn't bother you then you'll enjoy it. Try the huevos rancheros, the hash baskets, and the fruity standard, you won't be disappointed.

Great Food, Friendly People and Good Service. First time at Over Easy. Had to wait about 30 minutes, but it was worth it. I ordered the Hash Basket with sausage and cheddar cheese...delicious! Also tried the locally-sourced coarse-ground grits…possibly the best grits I've ever eaten. Finally, kudos to our server (Charleen, I think) for her easy-going (appropriate for a place called Over Easy!), but very efficient service. My coffee cup was never empty…and the restaurant was packed at the time! Overall 5 out of 5.

Nice Breakfast Diner. I went on a Saturday at 9am and we didn't have to wait long at all. The service was fast, friendly and easy-going. <br/>I had The Fruity Standard: 3 blueberry and banana pancakes, two eggs and Turkey Sausage and it was delicious. <br/>The layout is really nice and stark white clean. Yes, it's Another Broken Egg's competition in that area, but the atmosphere is way more relaxed. You can have a good, simple breakfast meal without all of the fuss.

One might think that a restaurant with the name 'Over Easy' would have decent eggs. Wrong. After a long wait to be seated, we were served your run-of-the-mill waffles and eggs with still-clear egg whites. I left unexcited, wishing I'd eaten at The Broken Egg a couple of blocks down the road.

Highly disappointed. Getting off on US280 to Hollywood Blvd, I am confronted with a new business called "Over-Easy". On the week-end it seems to enjoy a good business gauging by the number of cars. However yesterday morning I was not pressed to be anywhere and I thought I would enjoy what everyone else must be savoring.<br/>First I decided to purchase a newspaper; the host came out as I put in the first quarter and said we have the local papers inside. I pushed the eject button to retrieve my quarter and walked in to find out there was not local paper. I went back outside and after three attempts the paper stand would not take my three quarters. I should have known this was going to be a bad expierence. After being seated the host brought me a part of the USA Today. The coffee mug appeared to be not cleaned, the host removed the mug and the server returned with a tea cup of coffee, stating the the mug was just scratched and they could not remove the scratches. I finished my coffee and the portion of USA today paper, with 20 minutes gone by and an empty tea, I decided to try another place of business for breakfast. I hope the owner is reading these reviews. I do wish them success,. I may or may not try again,

It looks good!. Really chic atmosphere, it feels very big city. I ordered the waiters suggestion but it was dry and not appetizing. When I think of breakfast I think of fluffy pancakes, greasy bacon, eggs cooked right but at Over Easy it is all about the look. Also have found that it is so busy that the staff get overwhelmed. Bogues or the Original Pancake House are so much better than Over Easy. It should be right at home nestled between Homewood and Mountain Brook. It looks good on the outside but not much going on inside.

That was good!. I have eaten at Over Easy several times and it has always been a good experience. The food is excellent and the service is great. Lots of menu options and family friendly. In my opinion, Over Easy is SO MUCH better than that other breakfast place in town (:

Enjoyable breakfast place. Was with the GF and her daughter and we decided to eat at Over Easy. It was my first time there. When we pulled up there was quite a crowd waiting for a table. We had a twenty five minute wait but then again, if a place is popular, it is what it is. They did have complimentary coffee self-serve while you wait (which I needed). <br/>Our waitress was spot on, friendly, and had good timing. My coffee and water was re-filled several times. Nice. <br/>I had the Over Easy omellette which is mushrooms, spinach, goat cheese, and basil pesto. I found it to be well prepared, appropriately fluffy, and tasty. The GF had the Huevos Rancheros which I tasted and found to be true to its name and well made. I ordered a side of hash browns and lord, they didn't skimp on the serving size. It was like a double order at a Waffle House. The GF's daughter went old school and had pancakes and hash browns. The pancakes looked cooked about right and she liked them as well. This place obviously has a good following. There is a reason for that. I will go back.

An unsuspecting little cafe'. I'm from New York and the restaurant variety is endless and good too. Here in Alabama too many chain restaurants.<br/>So finding this little cafe was a nice surprise.<br/>The Chicken Caprese Sandwich is the most delicious sandwich I've had in a long time. Always fresh berries with your sandwich. Also the Monte Cristo, Awesome.<br/>Hearty breakfast platters, Yummy<br/>Definitely check them out.<br/>Atmosphere not so much :(

Just what Birmingham needed!. I love Over Easy and have been there many times. Their pancakes (especially the Oatmeal Pancakes) are the best. Prices are very reasonable (especially for a child.) Servers are always so nice. My favorite entrees are Huevos Rancheros, Pimento Cheese and Fried Green Tomato sandwich and the Oatmeal Pancakes. My husband loves the breakfast sandwich and burger. They even have magic drawing tablets for the children to play with while you wait. Please try Over Easy if you haven't yet, or try it again if you haven't been in a while.

Awesome service. Love the decor. Love the coffee. Love our favorite server Sue. By the time we get to the table she has our drinks waiting for us. Love the purple organic grits. We always get there early & never have a wait. It's our favorite new place in Birmingham--feels like New York.

Confirmed- Service and Experience of DMV beats this place---. I have literally had better service from the DMV at the courthouse downtown. <br/><br/><br/>I have eaten here because of the location.. every time thinking it can get better. But it does not. <br/><br/>Waitresses are mean / ignore their customers/ consistently get orders wrong/ get mad when the tip reflects their service. The kitchen is SLLLLOOOOOWWWW. <br/><br/><br/>That is all.

Over Easy was hands-down the single worst dining experience of my life. If you like long waits, crappy service, and the most flaccid meal available in the Western Hemisphere by all means waste your time and money at Over Easy. You would have a better dining experience in a Libyan prison.

Over Easy is overpriced and is just a nicer interior than a Waffle House. The juices and drinks are extremely overpriced. Save your money, go to iHop.

Pancakes make it worth it.. The seating is tight, but quaint. The service has its moments, it took forever to get a table and I think the restaurant is a little full of itself. Our group discovered they are best at simple food like the blue corn grits, biscuits and gravy and pancakes. Let me repeat, pancakes. <br/><br/>The huevos I ordered were good but the hash baskets were a let down.<br/><br/>So, order the simple stuff, especially the pancakes; expect a wait but worth a go. Pancakes.<br/><br/>Order the pancakes.

Lukewarm at best, bland and uneventful. Had lunch at Over Easy today. Ordered gravy and biscuits and bacon, which eventually came out somewhat lukewarm at best. Gravy was congealed and bland, biscuits weren't special, bacon was good though not really hot like it should have been. <br/><br/>Very unimpressive, wouldn't go back. Had a similar experience before but thought it was a fluke because it was a to go order. Today confirms that Over Easy just isn't good.

GGX. Went for breakfast today with some trepidation after reading recent negative reviews about service, Service was great. Place was full when we left and no one seemed to be waiting for than the normal time. Food, although not gourmet, was great and up to expectations.

Great Place for a Celebration. Over Easy hosted our daughter's surprise birthday celebration. They were super-easy to work with and all the details were taken care of perfectly. The service was great, which is a tall order when you are dealing with a group of ten 13 year old girls during the heavy Saturday morning rush! Did I mention the food was delicious?! Thanks, Over Easy!

Outstanding!. My wife and I went in with a group of friends and loved it. It was better in price than Another Broken Egg down the street. The food was simple, but classic. Their pancakes had that little bit of sweetness that I love. The omelette with pesto had amazing flavor. Overall we were very happy. Service was fast and courteous. We will return.

Two Thumbs up!!!. I had heard so many awesome things about Over Easy that I had to make it a priority on a recent trip down to Birmingham. All of my friends were right............good breakfast places are hard to come by.....but this place was awesome. The extensive menu gave our group many different options with inventive twists on classics like Italian Eggs Benedict and the Hash Basket. Our meals were hot and the ingrediants were fresh. I think the hands down winner though were the homemade biscuits and the real bacon. I'm so sick of getting bacon at other eating establishments and it's precooked. The bacon quality at Over Easy was not over looked; much like everything on their menu and the bright cheery atmosphere we experience while there!! TWO THUMBS UP!!!

Great food, great time!. We went this morning. We were seated, ate and were out within 40 minutes total! There was no wait on seating, food or service. The waitress was great and checked in on us often. Food was wonderful. They have your regular breakfast food and some other great items that you don't get at a regular breakfast restaurant. Love the atmosphere and location! All in all, great experience. Will definitely go back. I even had a toddler with me, and it was an enjoyable breakfast!

Highly Recommend. First of all - I like to travel, eat out, and try different restaurants. My taste in where I eat is pretty diverse.<br/><br/>That being said, Over Easy is a slam dunk. Not only would I recommend it to others, but I'll definitely return everytime I'm in Birmingham. <br/><br/>The staff was very patient, helpful, and friendly. The place was slammed and the owner still came to our table to talk with us and make sure we had everything we needed. <br/><br/>The service was prompt, but not rushed. I had the french toast and andouille sausage - which were delicious. My wife had the hash basket and she's been begging me to go back to Birmingham so she can have it again. <br/><br/>Lee

Awesome!!!!!!!. WOW!!! Everyone's a critic these days. I have been to over easy like 15 times. I've had a couple of long waits but what can you say... the proof is in the pudding. The line is always out the door because the food is great. The Italian Benedict is definitely my favorite. The oatmeal pancakes are awesome too! If you are in a hurry on a Saturday morning and only have $4.25 to spend, go get some crap at McDonald's. If you wanna chill out in a fun place, eat some farm fresh organic eggs and homemade pesto, go to Over Easy.

Two words....da bomb. I do not live in Birmingham but travel there frequently and I never miss a chance to have breakfast or lunch at Over Easy. It is unlike any other breakfast restaurant I have been to. It offers a unique atmosphere, diverse menu, great customer service, and even better food. I love coffee but I have never been able to drink it without cream and sugar until I tried the coffee at Over Easy. It is fresh-ground and roasted locally in Birmingham, and you can definitely tell the difference. If you live in Birmingham or have plans to travel through Birmingham, it is definitely worth stopping by and having a great meal.<br/><br/>My recommendations:<br/><br/>Breakfast - Hash Basket<br/>Lunch - Chicken Caprese

Great start for a great day!. I LOVE Over Easy! The oatmeal pancakes, cheese grits, eggs, veggie sausage, omelets-it's honestly all delicious. It's our family's go-to whenever we eat out for breakfast. (And for lunch, try the burger or chicken salad. YUM!) <br/><br/>The service is always friendly and attentive-I usually have my usual beverage at the table before I can even order it. Beginning my morning here is always a great way to start my day.

Great food and great service. I think they have gotten most of the bugs worked out with slow service from when they first opened. The hash basket is wonderful and the oatmeal pancakes are delicious. Great modern atmosphere. Like any good breakfast place in bham you may have to wait for a table, but that is certainly not a reason for a negative review.

Better experiences had at the DMV. Will NEVER go there again. In fact, I want my money back. Save yourself a miserable 2 hours & go to Klingler's on Hwy 31 instead. Much better food, service, & prices. Here was our experience:<br/><br/>-20 min after being seated & having not a single person acknowledge our table, we saw a couple bail commenting about "speeding up the kitchen." Should've followed suit. -40 min in, after seriously contemplating stealing the previously mentioned couple's coffee they left behind, I desperately flag down someone (who was not a waitress) & ask for drinks & for them to take our order. <br/>-50 min in, the person who was supposed to be our waitress finally picks up the check holder left on our table from the previous party. <br/>-1 hr in, we flag her down for a coffee refill. She then asks us if anyone told us about the wait in the kitchen (no). Well, it's about 40 min. Which means you should get your food in about 20 min. <br/>-30 min later (1 hr &30 min in) we get three small cheese biscuits to tie us over. <br/>-1 hr 40 min, our food comes out. It was nothing special.<br/>-2 hrs in, we get our check and we pay in full.

GROSS. I will start by telling you that I survived the tornado in Tuscaloosa (barely), and eating here was pretty much just as terrible as that was. That being said, they somehow managed to ruin eggs benedict by putting some kind of black stuff on it that COMPLETELY overpowered the hollandaise sauce. I considered trying to find a tongue scraper after brushing my teeth AND using copious amounts of mouthwash upon returning home. Also, the grits are purple. I have no idea why. I do know that I will never eat there again. Ever. Also, it took 3 years to get our gross food, and we did not care for the wallpaper.

Will not answer phone. I have tried multiple times on a Sunday morning to place a simple takeout order with, which I know they will do because I've done it in the past. I couldn't get a single person to answer the phone at any time. Very unprofessional and an excellent strategy for losing business, both this time around and in the future.

Hmmmm. My favorite meal is breakfast. I love to cook and am fairly good at it, i believe. My cooking has kept me from going out for medioce food at high prices. <br/>My wife and I were so happy when Over Easy opened. Early visits where forgiven as working out the kinks. Today was probably our last visit. Long waiting , poor service and food served incorectly is unforgivable. <br/>They have such a great concept in a great location. For two people to spend $20 plus dollars for a breakfast of eggs and toast or one of thier "specialties" , it should be perfect. Less than average breaks my heart. <br/>They will probably make it because there are few places to breakfast around. but good sense will make me stay home. Anyone want to join me. <br/>Bob

Bad first impression. Waited over 45 minutes for cold food and no coffee refill. Then we had to listen to our waitress blaming the cooks for misplacing her order. When we needed her, she was no where to be found. Eggs cold, grits over salted, biscuits dry and pasty. Not a good first impression.

Quick, delicious, healthy. Enjoyed our brunch at Over Easy very much. I was hesitant to go because I didn't want greasy bacon & eggs. BUT there were several healthy breakfast and lunch choices. I enjoyed egg whites, turkey bacon, whole wheat toast and fresh fruit. The kitchen is quick, the wait staff very friendly, the food healthy and delicious. What's not to love!

Had the Italian Eggs Benedict this morning and it was outstanding. Service was exceptional and fast. Coffee never ran out. Highly recommended. Careful of the salsa tho. Its extremely hot.

Best Breakfast I've ever had.. The Eggs Benedict was amazing. My girlfriend had the Lumber Jack Potatoes, which was also very good. I've read reviews here and I saw a lot of complaints about the speed of service. Well, we were seated, ordered, and served with in 20 minutes on a SATURDAY MORNING. I'll definitely be going back.

The wait was 5 minutes. The food was very good, but, in my opinion, the prices for the beverages were unbelievably expensive. To ask a patron to pay $2.50 for a 6 ounce glass of juice or milk is a little costly.

Terribly slow, but excellent food.. Over Easy is a great place to go with friends and family for a relaxing, delicious, get-caught-up breakfast or brunch. Service and food are undeniably slow, but if good food is what you're after, it'll be worth the wait if you have the time. <br/><br/>Quality and freshness are king here, and everything they serve is top notch in those respects. The huevos rancheros are a thing of great beauty, and actually have a pretty good kick. Also great for a lighter meal are the steal cut oats. <br/><br/>Price point is a plus too, considering you get as much food as you can eat for ab $8 and under. <br/><br/>Over Easy has its fault (slow), but the quality of the food absolutely kills Another Broken Egg and other similar establishments in town. They actually care about the food, and it shows in the presentation and taste.

How long does it take to work out the kinks?. I went to Over Easy with 2 friends for lunch on a Sunday. We waited outside for about 30 minutes and then for about an hour once we were inside. Our orders consisted of french toast, pancakes, cheese grits and hashbrowns. (I ordered the grits and hashbrowns) Nothing complicated, right? After a while, I noticed that none of the people around us had food. There seemed to be about 10-15 people in the kitchen and at least 5 waitresses on the floor of this tiny place. I have no idea why it would take SO long to get any food. After a while, our waitress came by and threw a plate (I'm not kidding) with 2 biscuits on our table and said "here's something to nibble on while you wait." 2 biscuits for 3 people. Uh, thanks. <br/>When we finally received out food, the general consensus was that everything was just ok. My grits were bland, but at least they were warm. That's literally the nicest thing I can say about it. When you go to a place in Mountain Brook because it's new and within walking distance, and you end up talking about The Waffle House...there's a problem.
