We have lived in the Bluff Park area for 3 years and I am so ashamed to say that my first time visiting Mr. P's was this past Saturday for the #ShopSmall event. However ashamed I was of myself I definitely was NOT disappointed in the food and experience. I had the Craw Daddy sandwich that had cajun spiced roast beef and pepper jack cheese. My mouth felt like it was in New Orleans during Mardi Gras. I took a menu home and will most certainly be ordering from them again.
1st visit on Wednesday and can't say enough great things about this place!! Superior customer service and these filets are absolutely the BEST I've ever had. Got them pre seasoned and we had a couple that evening, will freeze the rest. Flavor and tenderness 2nd to NONE!!
Will DEFINITELY be back and recommend to everyone!!

An amazing family ran business . Great meat market wonderful seasonings and sauces. Best sandwiches anywhere. A truly iconic business in the area for many years. If you live in the area you know this. If you are visiting it's worth going out of your way to find this place

Best butcher shop in Alabama. Without a doubt these guys take pride in what they do. Super friendly Sicilian family that makes you feel welcome the moment you walk in the door. The deli here is fantastic and the steak sandwich is amazing. Do yourself a favor and make sure you try this place if you are in Birmingham.

Our sandwiches were wonderful as always. We also took home a couple of ribeyes covered in Mr. P's seasonings and they were so tender. I would recommend Mr. P's to everyone I know.

Great sandwiches and even good microwaved hamburgers. You should definitely check out the great selection of meat sans the old school chicken fingers. Great local shop. Still I must add not ass good as when Chris Parks was behind the counter but still a great place.

Great...but too popular for their space. Wonderful meat on a huge piled high sandwich. Dozens of choices. Great Mr. P's BBQ sauce that actually goes good on any and every sandwich they have. OK...so a sandwich is 2 things, meat & bread. Their meat is wonderful, their bread comes from Kroger. Wish they would step up on that side. But I'll admit the meat was good enough to not notice. Biggest problem I had was this wonderful little hole in the wall place had simply outgrown its space. Yet the space is what makes it. What do you do? It is so tight & crowded you get to know folks...But is that really a bad thing? No, but it still is trying to wait 20-30 mins. an a simple sandwich. Look, these guys write your order down an the tiny 1/2 inch tear off stub on the end of a basic green & white receipt...And line them up and try and fill the orders. They just can't keep up with the dozens and dozens of orders at lunch time. But really, just chill out and enjoy the ride. Places like this don't exist in most cities. It ain't Subway folks...

Is this a gas station?. I can't believe this place is so good. If you like a good, meaty sandwich in a (very) casual atmosphere, this is the place. Truely, thier sandwiches are second to none. I love the Zapp's Vodo Chips, too. Where I'm from in Georgia, a lot of remote gas stations offer country cooking buffets. People in the know will drive out to the sticks for Sunday lunch. Mr. P's isn't a gas station, technically, but they have the same set up as those kinds of places. And food good enough for a drive across town. Fortunately, I'm closer than that :-)
Can't Miss with Mr. P's!. Bluff Park's very best secret. Phenomenally fresh beef and amazing deli sandwiches will knock your socks off. Frequently see 'Mr. P' himself tending the register, or helping customers in the store. THIS is how you do it.
Best sandwich ever.. I travel with work a few weeks a month and always look to try places I can't get at home. What a gem of a place Mr. P's is, so good we went for lunch two days in a row.
The Goldenburg is hands down the best sandwich I have ever eaten. The Awesome Austin was fantastic also.

Mr. P's - A Simple Classic. I'm a guy. Give me any variety of awesome meat, melted cheese, and tasty sauce on a bun and I'm a very happy guy. Side items? Sure, if you have them (and they do) but I'm cool with a bag of chips and I'll get my own drink from the fountain, thank you. I'll sit at one the odd, mismatched tables in a worn, plastic chair, my back against this refrigeration case, and wait (sometimes) for quite a few minutes. Why? Because, like the rest of the carnivores packed in this makeshift dining room, I know this sandwich, whichever one I've ordered, is going to blow me away with its meaty goodness.
The meats and cheese are top quality, no doubt. They could probably do more with the choice of breads (but hey, this is a butcher, not a bakery). But the real secret is in the seasonings and the sauces, some made by (or for) Mr P, others acquired over the years from other landmarks. No matter what combination of meats and cheese, they seem to have found the perfect sauce and seasonings to make it unique and memorable.
That's why I don't have a favorite. Each trip I just pick at random, or have them suggest something. Never been disappointed. But my first sandwich there was the "Big Daddy" - roast beef, cheddar, bacon and bbq sauce (oh my!!) So if I had to recommend one, it would be that.
And if you've never patronized a real butcher, it's time you start. The big chain stores have all but killed the local neighborhood butcher shop, while lowering our collective standards in terms of what a good cut of meat should cost and how it should cook and taste. Thank goodness Mr. P and a few others have found communities that support them.
Stupid Crazy Good. One guy takes your order, couple of guys fix the best sandwich you've ever had (each and every time, no lie), then you pay a guy before you leave. Could you ask for anything simpler? The Jethro (stupid good) The New York Yankee (stupid good) the muffaletta (stupid good. and if you finish it you should reward yourself and buy a t-shirt, some beer, and some local sauces and/or rubs). Full disclosure: I do not nor have I ever worked here. And if I didn't live across town, I'd have to take out a Mr. P's loan from the nearest bank.
Great. Mr. P's has great sandwiches and meats. We always get our filet mignons there and they are delicious!

Best Meatball Sandwich I've ever had!!!
This is the lunchtime place I go to for sandwiches. So many great ones to choose from. My fave is the Reuben on a wheat bun. Awesome corned beef!
The Pride of Bluff Park!. I started driving 80,000-pound 18wheelmotorvehicles in '89. I had 2 full-size electric fridges in th' cross-country rigs, 1 Igloo brand, and 1 Coleman brand~ When I knew I would be on th' Roads of America for a week or 2, I'd drive the entire mile from my house 2Mr. P's, load up on superfresh deli-sandwiches & awesome filets mignons, the latter not cheap, but hey, alotta times in this world, y' get what y' pay for,... like with some girls... ( Just Kidding!!!....................sort of... :)
It was sweet 2pullout my electric stove & hibachi-grill 2 or 3 days later in the Arizona desert after a (another) 6 or 700mile drive across Texas & New Mexico, and enjoy a nice filet from BluffPark, USA~

Sandwich heaven and the best place to buy meat in the city!. Mr. P's has a huge selection of deli sandwiches they make fresh as well as the best butchered steaks you can buy. The owner and his family operate the business daily so you can be sure the service is exceptional. They also have a large wine selection and their own spice/marinades which are unique and can be found in many area grocery stores.
