We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Berliner Kindl. It was a delight to have this kind of food quality and service in a small mountain town. Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. We will be back!

The food is awesome and the German Chocolate Cake is to die for. Great restaurant in a very unique little town with lots of speciality shops. I ate lunch then went shopping and later went back for dessert.

We came in to have a couple of beers and we're joined by four friends. Although we didn't order food, the staff cheerfully allowed us to pull two tables together. In our defense, we did have several rounds of terrific German beers. Great place!

First time at a German restaurant and didn't have a single clue of what I should order. Our waitress was fantastic and was able to explain the meals perfectly; she even picked out the lemon schnitzel for me and I absolutely loved it! They cater well to allergies as well!

Like coming home. As a kid, I always looked forward to visiting Oma and Opa each summer in Kircheim. Nothing tasted as good as eating my Oma’s delicious Linzer Torte, or Opa’s spaetzle, schnitzel and mushroom gravy. The reviews said Berliner Kindl was authentic and I couldn’t agree more. Both of our meals were beyond delicious. The atmosphere was authentic and our wait staff was attentive and ensured our food came out quickly and hot. We also ordered the Black Forest cake that was moist with a healthy portion of chocolate and cherries. For those Schwabs out there, order the potatoes instead of the potato said, which is made with bacon. Obviously a regional preference. Nevertheless, this will be my go to spot for a taste of home when we are staying in Morganton and Lake James area.

I loved this place! My schnitzel, spatzel, and potatoes were delicious, and the sausage and Reuben my family ordered also tasted amazing. All the sides compliment the dishes perfectly. We had a nice server who quickly came over and got a lager for us when we asked (we were halfway through our meal, not just ordering drinks). The atmosphere is wonderful. It reminds me of my German grandparents' old home, with many similar furnishings, and was very calm and nice. We're still waiting to try the slice of cheesecake we took out, but we suspect it will be delicious.

Love love love this place. We stop here whenever we come through the area. Excellent food and selection. The red cabbage is so yummy! I had the Bouletten. My husband had the spicy brats. The cucumber salad is absolutely delicious. The only thing I did not like was the spaetzle. It was different than I’ve had before at other German restaurants. They used a different kind of egg noodle and used pork as part of the recipe. I prefer plain butter spaetzle.

The best German food I've had in the US. I've been to many different German restaurants trying to get the same taste that I remember while being in Germany 🇩🇪 while in the Army. This place is amazing with authentic flavors. The schnitzel and potato salad is addicting. My 9yr old is picky yet she loved her Reuben. The staff was very friendly and attentive. This is a must try!!

I don’t even know where to start! Our server (Kat?) was one of the best we’ve ever had - and the food, wow! We’d never eaten at a German restaurant, everything was unique and delicious! The apple strudel I could eat every night it was so good!

We had a good experience here. My Rham Schnitzel and my wife’s Lemon Schnitzel were both good, but I would not call them great. The schnitzel was a little smaller and thinner than expected. The photo shows my hand to show comparable size. I’ve had better schnitzel elsewhere, but if you are in Black Mountain, it is certainly worth the visit. The beer selections were adequate. The people were nice.

My German husband was elated. It had all our favorites. German potato salad, krauts and the cucumber salad was great. Not to mention the brats. Will definitely come back.

The staff was friendly, the little space is very classic old-German, down to the oak wood tables and Bavarian landscapes on the wall. It was lunch, so I ordered the schnitzel sandwich with potato salad. Everything was well prepared, the tomatoes and lettuce were bright and fresh, the bun was soft, the schnitzel was properly thin. I did need to remind myself that the portions align with German portions, not American. And I did move the pickle to the side. Not expensive, not inexpensive, though I do wish the menu had a beer cheese/fondue, though yes I know that's not a thing in the summer. maybe they have it in winter. The cakes looked good but I didn't try them.

Potato pancakes were perfectly fried and not greasy. Both the Veal and pork schnitzel were tender and crispy on the outside. The sausages were all very good. The Veal sausage was different in texture but tasty. The German potato salad is served cold but was very good. It had chopped pickles, which was unexpected, but worked well with the richness of the chunks of bacon. They also have a little shop with candy, and packaged goods, as well as deli meats and sausages for sale. The little town has lots of great shops and places to explore that are all easily walkable. Highly recommend stopping for lunch

The storefront was completely unassuming. The food however....totally the opposite. The lemon schnitzel was incredibly delicious and the beer was so good. Topped it off with the Kahlua mousse torte and OH MAN was it amazing. All in all, 5 stars for the top notch service and food.

On vacation in Asheville and went for a hike - needed a place for lunch and we found this gem!! So glad we tried it as all the food was delicious and just the home made meal we needed after a morning hiking. We tried the schnitzel, german fried potatoes & the cucumber salad - all were amazing. The staff was very friendly; restrooms and restaurant were clean. They have german beer and some german chocolate. Their fresh cakes in the window look amazing! Will be coming back to try some dessert. Come try this restaurant - you will get a home made meal and won't be disappointed!

As close to the real thing as you’ll probably get! Food was good and the service top notch. I took a star off for affordability. Very pricey for what it is but you pay for the atmosphere. Prost!
