My husband and I came to Jim Thorpe for a weekend getaway. Not knowing the area, we relied on reading reviews to point us in the right direction for breakfast. Holy cow, were we impressed with our experience here! We actually came back again at the end of our trip! The food was outrageous, the service was wonderful, AND we were offered coffee to go on our way out the door! That made a huge impression. They had great coffee, and I've never been offered coffee to go at the end of my meal!! My husband and I recommend the Chat-N-Chew Cafe 100%!!!
I stopped by the Chat-n-Chew Cafe for a humble Sausage, Egg and Cheese on a Kaiser, but was served a regal feast!
Even the sandwich was so epic it needed a sword (or a knife) to keep it together. It’s the Excalibur of breakfasts, you've got to pull out the knife to claim your right to the throne of deliciousness.
The staff here are not only generous with their portions but with their humor too, firing off one-liners like they're on a comedy stage instead of a cafe. Their shirts have random sayings like, "Chickens: The Pets That Poop Breakfast," and if these chickens are responsible for my meal, they deserve a cluckin' medal.
My stay at Lake Harmony was made all the more harmonious with a second visit to this punny little cafe in Blakeslee.
Fantastic breakfast spot! Visited around 830 on a Sunday morning and our group of 4 adults, 2 kids was sat right away. The specialty drinks were tasty (very sweet though!) All of our food was excellent, reasonably priced, staff were friendly.
Last week me and my girls were in town in a cabin in the area for a birthday. I read the positive reviews online and suggested going here for brunch at the last minute. I called an hour in advance to ask if our large party (10 girls) could be accommodated and they said yes.
Our experience was absolutely phenomenal. From the moment we walked in everyone was so kind and helpful to us. As someone who once worked in the service industry I know what a pain large tables can be and our waitress absolutely killed it! Food was great and fast as well. I highly recommend the grits.
We will be coming back to Pennsylvania for Chat n Chew alone!
We were in the area and my wife wanted breakfast so we walked in. The place is fun and cheerful. The food is delicious. Some fun memes on the wall. An all around pleasurable experience.
Not a bad place for breakfast and lunch food! One of the better places in the area. Went with a larger group, so it was understandable that our food took quite a while to come out. Service was really good! Our waitress was very nice. I got a chicken caesar wrap which was yummy and had fresh lettuce in it. A lot of my friends got breakfast food and one even said “these eggs are cooked to perfection”. My other friend got a cheesesteak, which he said was yummy! The chips on the side are just ruffles, but you can’t go wrong with that. Would recommend if you’re looking for good breakfast food.
Get the belly-buster sandwich for breakfast!! A nice-sized piece of Chicken-fried pork with home fries (sliced fried potatoes) cheese, egg, bacon, country sausage gravy on a bun - a pretty satisfying, large sandwich. I get a side of sautéed bell pepper to go on mine, and put some hot sauce on it too. Sooooo Gooooooood. 🤤
Absolutely wonderful! The food was incredible and the portions were large but not too much. It was a tiny bit on the pricey side but it was worth it— the specialty lattes were to die for and the scrapple was homemade and likely deep fried (10/10!)
Our server is on the receipt as “Nicole 31” and she was the sweetest ever, she was absolutely incredible and so kind to us. We are travelers from Massachusetts and compared to diners up there, this place is at least 10 times better.
We were also quite big fans of the “grumpy decor” on the walls— you’ll see it when you get there. It’s hilarious.
We were looking for a quick bite for lunch, stumbled upon this GEM! Went in expecting a little deli for a sausage egg and chees to go and were surprised with an old school diner feel amazing staff even more amazing food!! The interaction with the hostess to the waitresses to the cooks themselves was awesome! we enjoyed every bit of our experience here and will make it our GO-TO when in the area! Recommend the Dutch omlette!
I love this place, really I do. The food is great, portions are reasonable, prices are good. The service is awesome, especially from Nicole, who couldn't be nicer. So what's the drawback for me? The gross mousetraps in the restrooms! REALLY?!?! Jeez, get them out of there during service hours! I have a thing about rodents, ESPECIALLY when I'm in a restaurant (I know they exist, but I don't need to know where) and VERY ESPECIALLY when I'm in the restroom in a rather delicate position, if you get my dribble...uh, drift.
