awesome food , steve makes the best bread , have yet to meet that guy my self .... but his home made bread is totally the best homemade bread ive ever had truthfully his bread is better then store bought bread he makes it fresh daily .... the food is totally awesome and they have special food that isnt on the menu but is just a special now and then but that roast beef special i had was totally awesome !!!!
my waiter was tucker very wonderful gent and very respectable waiter not like most younger kids you can really tell he was raised old fashion an with respect ....
the place grew on me being there i loved every thing ive had so far , .... i think this is by far one of the best texas food joints ive ate at yet !!! good job chess staff !!!!
Best place for breakfast! We been going since they opened and the good quality has not changed. We love the quaint atmosphere and appreciate that the food is all homemade. Fun to watch the owner/chef work in the little kitchen. The Egg Benedict choices are all delicious. I particularly love the Kings Choice crab cake Egg Benedict. The omelets are great and both dishes come with fried red potatoes. The toast is about 1 1/2 inches thick and homemade! Makes the best French toast ever! Never disappointed. One of these days we will have to try lunch.
The service is great, prices are perfect for some amazing homestyle food made to order! I ordered the chicken and waffles and can definitely say it was the best I have ever had! My husband ordered the chicken fried steak and that was perfection, down to the homemade gravy! Definitely worth the stop, I can’t even make food as good as they did! Will be going back when we are in the area! Make sure to bring your appetite!!

Home cooking, best gumbo on earth! Bread made fresh and so soft. I would ship the food back to Los Angeles if I could. Cookies the size of your head. They will haunt your dreams.
Great chicken & waffles. Fluffy waffle lovey light batter in fried chicken which was very juicy. Also enjoyed creamy hollandaise sauce which was served over great pouched eggs. Perfectly priced and great service can't wait to come back to try more things

Wow! What a great surprise this little restaurant is in Blanco. Had the Cajun omelette, it was a large serving and so delicious! Came with tasty pan fried potatoes and a generous slice of their excellent homemade bread. The waitstaff are very polite and very efficient; and the food is so inexpensive! Would go out of my way to eat there again.
Stopped by on the way home from New Braunfels and found this gem. The place was a charming farmhouse. The food was excellent and plentiful. Gotta try the home-made bread. Kids enjoyed the chickens in the yard and eating figs off the fig tree. Couldn’t believe the reasonable prices. Will eat here again. It’s a winner!

Parking : very limited so we knew were getting either going to a place that was really good or just very limited parking.
Upon entering, arrival time 11:20 am the hostess greeted us with, “how many “ along with “the wait is 20-25 & we are flirting with lunch” meaning that once we were to get called it would most likely be lunch menu.
We waited outside, beautiful weather.

I walked in to the scrumptious aromas of a southern grandmother’s kitchen on a Sunday morning. Smells of baking, bacon and gravy with sounds of skillets sizzling. The atmosphere is an old house with two rooms of dining tables. They also have additional seating on the porch and with picnic tables in the front yard. They have many good looking food choices, but my eyes immediately zeroed in on the Chicken Fried Steak. Which I can say was fantastic, very tender with a light crust. Definitely the best I have had in Blanco County. The mashed potatoes and green beans were also very good. Great atmosphere and great food, give Chess Club a try… its an A+, 5star type place you may see on a tv show someday. 🤠
If you want to feel and taste TX, THIS is your stop. Incredible customer service. Fast turn around time on food ordering even while packed. The type of food that makes you moan. The hardwood floors make you feel like you’re at grandma’s again. Very clean bathroom, decor is perfection.
The salmon was cooked to perfection, cute atmosphere, excellent customer service, clean, and reasonable wait time/prices. The owner stopped by to say hello with a smile, despite it being a busy morning. Can’t go wrong with the Chess Club Cafe.
We stopped by this cute Cafe on a recommendation and we are glad we did. The meat lover's quiche is meaty cheesy goodness! My husband ordered the pork special and it was a pork chop on top of mashed potatoes smothered in a delicious mushroom gravy. I hear their breakfast is really delicious too. Since we went after 11:30, we had to order from the lunch menu. That just means we have to stop on again.
Best Rueben Sandwiches, and I have ate a lot of Rueben Sandwiches. We had Mac as our server, he was knowledgeable, friendly, efficient and a wonderful sense of humor. We live about an hour and half from here but when in the area, we will make an effort to go there. They never disappoint. They have indoor seating but we prefer being outside.
Super friendly staff, cute homey restaurant and delicious food. We had the meat lovers quiche, eggs Benedict, and cowboy breakfast. We left happy. Definitely recommend!
