I have to say, we have never been disappointed when dining here (short of being able to get a table on a busy evening). Breakfast/Brunch is fantastic. This review however is about my most recent visit on 4/8/22 while dining at the bar. My beautiful bride (of 28 years tomorrow) and I always prefer to dine at the bar. The restaurant was busy, but seating at the bar was pretty open. The draft beer selection is somewhat limited, although well thought out and selected. I opted for the shiitake mushroom smash burger and fries, and was not disappointed. The burger was perfectly seasoned and prepared, and the mushroom, Swiss combination was fantastic on a nicely toasted potato bun. My wife was the beneficiary of what may be one of the best sandwiches Bloomington has the offer (this is my official nomination). The Flying Hawaiian Chicken Sandwich was a special item, and I am hopeful that it becomes a regular offering. The chicken was perfectly breaded, and seasoned. The chicken was presented in a perfectly toasted bun along with hand carved smoked ham, pineapple and cheese. Seriously, this is something that we lucked into ordering and would now return frequently to enjoy. DO NOT MISS OUT ON THIS SANDWICH. Kudos Southern Stone. Nice atmosphere, menu and service.

I absolutely love decadent food with an interesting spin. I've eaten at this local restaurant several times and have always enjoyed the food. They have been making some changes to the menu recently so this dish was slightly different than the last time I had it. I will say it was equally as delicious. Let's break it down: Salmon - The salmon was cooked perfectly. The flavor profile was slightly different than the last time I had it. There was a tangy, but sweet soy glaze that I really appreciated and the salmon sat on top of a bed of microgreens. Cooked to perfection. Garlic Mashed Potatoes - The mashed potatoes had great flavor and texture. Last time the presentation was slightly better, but the potatoes themselves were just as delicious. Garden Salad - I love the freshness of the salad and the homemade salad dressing. Ingredients were high quality. Beignets - Flaky and delicious! I would recommend less chocolate and more powdered sugar! Wine - And to complement the entire meal was this delicious dry red. Wednesday is half-price wine day so it is a really great night to venture out and try this delicious spot. Overall - Service was excellent. I had questions about the wines and the manager came over and assisted which I really appreciated. Definitely recommend coming back to this place. My only complaint is I would have preferred more asparagus. The last time I was here the serving size of asparagus was larger. This girl loves to eat. So I love large portions of vegetables. In all - this restaurant is delicious.

The food and service was excellent. My wife had fried green tomatoes, and I had the spicy shrimp for a our appetizers. Both were tasty. She had a Caeser salad and a bowl of tomato soup, I had half of a honey pressure cooked chicken. My two sides were collard greens and baked beans. Everything was tasty. Great service, great food! Highly recommend this place.

Southern Stone is a brunch staple for my friends and I. The service is friendly and quick. The food is fresh and delicious.
