Excellent food in a welcoming and homey atmosphere. Fairly priced and nice variety of meals. Known for its brick oven baked pizza.

Amazing getaway, in a beautiful gem on the more quiet coast of Maine. Impeccable room *(Room 3 Turret), excellent staff, and superb, yet fairly priced dinner.

My husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in the Blue Hill area. Staying at Barncastle lovely. The room we stayed in was large, very clean and comfortable. The small pub was quaint and the cocktails delicious. Lizzie was very responsive to questions prior to our arrival. We had a small meal in the pub on Saturday night that was so yummy. It was made special by Lizzie and her staff with an aperitif to celebrate our silver anniversary. We would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend.

My wife and I spent 4 nights at Barncastle. We were able to attend the last concert night in the barn for the 2023 season. Definately recommend attending a concert if in season. Our room was well appointed, very clean and with streaming services on the TV. The bar had a quaint charm and we tried many of the mixed drinks which were exceptional. You have to check out the restaurant and wine list. Lizzie, Owen and all the staff were friendly and we had an excellent stay.

Restaurant was fantastic for a late fall Friday night dinner. Romantic, cozy, warm. The service was attentive and thoughtful. The chicken liver pate was really special, as was the apple tart dessert with fromage blanc ice cream, and the smoked squash soup with crab and creme fraiche. The chicken entree was delicious, too, as was the wine. The menu is a mix of small and larger plates, and our meal was pretty affordable, as we split two appetizers and an entree (for two). The cocktails were also both balanced and a bit unique while having a pretty predictable basic flavor profile. Mine featured a black walnut bitter from a Rockland micro distillery (Luce Spirits). Honestly, just go, it is lovely.

The menu is made up of German food in a tapas style (a bunch of appetizers you're supposed to share). The food was good but if you're looking for a meal to just eat and leave this isn't it. More ventilation is desperately needed in the side dining room. The staff were polite, the table of elderly people sharing their bigoted comments about every nation in Europe next to us not so much.

Very happy to have a nice restaurant in Blue Hill, and I appreciate one with a chef that knows how to put together an intriguing menu that makes you want to come back and try each item. I know I am in good hands when the marrow bone is perfectly tender, pate comes with delectable pickled onions (all we needed was more bread!) and the German / Belgian influenced mains are as juicy and filling as you’d get in Frankfurt. This is the only place near here where I have seen an orange wine on a menu except Aragosta, points for that! I am hopeful this new business continues to evolve their menu, find local favorites and try new things.

What a refreshing take on a Maine B&B! First of all, you can't MISS the building from the road--literally the combo of a barn and a castle, such cool architecture. I only went to try the restaurant, not the hotel itself, but what a perfect little escape. My partner and I loved the chef's take on Alsatian food--we've never been to France, but we were definitely transported to a new place! As residents of the area, it was so cool to see a different type of cuisine represented in Maine. Lizzie & Owen, the new owners, are too sweet for words--we cannot wait to go back!

Just reviewing the resturant and I have to say it was amazing! The food was incredible and a nice change from the standard fare of Bar Harbor. The staff was wonderful and so welcoming, will definitely be back on our next north east trip.

Went to dinner with some friends. The menu has many unique items and it is perfect for those who would like to share. Everything was delicious; salad, mussels, potato dumplings, flatbread and dessert. The service was great and the atmosphere was charming.

Interesting menu. Every item our party of 7 tried was raved about. Personally had the the cold corn chowder and schnitzel. Delicious. Service terrific and accommodating to many "orders on the side". Easily our best meal of vacation.

We didn't stay here, we went for dinner. It was an amazing evening! They have a style of Austrian food we've never had before and it was amazing! Our server was so nice and the location so pretty and cozy!

We went for a dine-in experience rather than hotel. The place was clean, and everyone was very friendly and helped answer any menu questions. Was definitely a treat experiencing the menu here!

Such an amazing experience! I went in early November on a research trip for a book and I loved every second. Beds were comfortable. Food was awesome but it's really the staff that made it the absolute best. Can't wait to go back for next year! (Love you Carl!)

Great inn in Bluehill, Maine Restaurant has changed a little with the new owners. Stayed two night awesome rooms. Reasonable prices for the room. Didn't eat at the restaurant just to busy working but if you need to stay in bluehill this is the place it's so cool. Bar is busy during happy hour. And rumor has it Billy Joel stayed here with then wife Christy brinkley for a night while on there honeymoon.

My husband and I stay here regularly while we build our home down the street. It’s quiet, clean and quite unique! There is a restaurant/bar on the premises. A continental breakfast is included and there are games and books in the breakfast area. It’s a lovely place to stay.

Nice large room, friendly service, interesting history of the property. The room was quiet except for the window air conditioner. The shower is very small but it works okay. The Roku TV was hard to use and the sound was full of static on most channels so we quit trying to watch it. We would probably stay here again despite these minor issues. 👍😍👍

Barncastle was exactly what we needed after a day in Acadia. We stayed in room 5. The bed was comfortable, our bathroom has the original claw foot tub for soaking, and it was well decorated. We enjoyed several drinks at the pub, and recommend the phyllo bbq chicken and Mac and cheese dishes! Bartender and person at the check in were friendly and knowledgeable. Loved learning about the history of this place! Will stay here again if ever back in the area. Way better than staying in Bar Harbor.

Excellent food and service from new owners. A touch of class and creativity in the area and the Barncastle is still a lovely old inn.
