The Na’an Cuban was absolutely ridiculous. I was not in the mood for a sandwich. That was one of the best I’ve had. Loved the patio setting with dogs. Limited beer selection unless you are manly pumpkin spice latte IPA drinker.
Great restaurant. Stopped in for lunch and had regular burger, falafel burger, and Cuban. Enjoyed the fresh mountain air sitting on the patio. Waitress was a super sweet fellow Raleighite now going to school at ASU eager to tell us everything she loved about Boone. She didn’t have to sell me — I love Boone and The Local!
The food was delicious and service was very timely. We order Brussel Sprouts for an appetizer then Pizza, Pasta, Salads and Tacos for dinner. The weather was fantastic so we ate outside on the patio. For a party of five the pricing was affordable. We would recommend to anybody visiting Boone.
First time at The Local today. The waitress gave excellent recommendations on food and beer. Everything was excellent, the food, the beer, the band, and the atmosphere.
Creative, fresh and tasty food with a relaxing vibe and friendly, attentive service. I was pleased to see the quinoa bowl in the menu as a healthy alternative to fried food, meaty mains, pizza or pasta--though they have all those offerings as well, if that's what you fancy! Everything was really tasty and affordable for the quality. We will definitely be back next time we are in Boone.
Love this place. Wonderful food, good craft beers, an AMAZING staff. And on the porch, the view is just typical Boone ... mountain life.

The grilled salmon, Brussels sprouts and tumeric cauliflower were awesome. My husband had shrimp and grits and they were great too!!! Rachel our server was terrific.
Our waitor, Kingsley made awesome dinner suggestions ( Salmon & Shrimp and Grits) and They were sooo good! Kingsley was very attentive to our table. This was our 1st visit bit definitely won't be our last!
This place is awesome!!!! The number one place we have to go to when we are in Boone. Great food, great employees, great atmosphere!!!!
My first visit yesterday. We had Summer as our server. She gave AMAZING recommendations on drinks and meals. And both were phenomenal. Will be returning for sure.

This edition of Excited about Eating takes us to our favorite mountain getaway, Blowing Rock/Boone area of North Carolina and to The Local. One block off King with a private parking lot across the street…WIN!. This eating establishment also boasts big screen TVs to watch your favorite sport teams. Located a block off the main drag (King Street), the restaurant gives you the feel of an eatery for locals just waiting to be discovered by visitors.
Wife & I went on Tuesday nite. The rating of this place is off the mark, should be around a 4.0. Zomato says we need to speak up as we go there. The wife had a gourmet grilled cheese with sweet tator fries and I had the philly cheese with steak. Both were super and so was Christi our server. We will be back. Yelp gives a better review.

Our first time here and will be many more dining to come. My hubby had the Naan Cuban sandwich, it was delicious I know because I had a bite. I had the Blackened Goat Burger and I can say that burger was moist and delicious too. While I'm writing this I'm eating the Carolina Beignets drinking coffee and it is a great sime ending to a wonderful meal. Can't wait to return to eat a different meal.
Wonderful! My husband and I were in town for our anniversary and we went there based on reviews on UrbanSpoon, glad we did. Our server, Laura or Lauren (can't remember) was great. She explained the menu and gave suggestions! The food has twist on regular flavors and even my meat and potatoes husband enjoyed it. I have the fried BLT and I can't wait to have it again! The atmosphere was also really nice! They have a cool stage set up for the late night crowd bands but we were sleepy so I can't comment on the night life!! The beer was also yummy! And the price was overly reasonable! We had two meals, appetizer and two beers for $35.
Neat place to eat. The OG burger was exceptional. Meat was cooked perfectly. Server, Micharl, was attentive and efficient. An enjoyable experience.

Delicious food: a tale from the table. The food was excellent at the local! My husband and I came for lunch. Shelly was our waitress and she provided wonderful service. When trying to select a beer she told us some of her favorite options and ultimately we got to try something new because of her suggestion! I had pork nachos and they were so big (and equally delicious). My husband had the wings (bourbon street BBQ and thai chili) which he found very succulent. Overall great food for a reasonable price. We will definitely eat here again.
Really fun location, just plan ahead for parking if at prime times like dinner on a Friday night. They know how to do burgers! Prepare to be smacked in the mouth with meaty goodness if you get the Booney Burger. They also have plenty of cocktails to suit your pallet. The 'she crab' is thicker than most chowders I'm used to, but still hit the spot. The trout was also on point, and if you like goat cheese, they have you set. They didn't skimp on that at all.
The Local was the only place ready to serve dinner late until 10 p.m., which was a life saver! It was totally worth it, too! The Boonie burger was incredible, and my wife loved the Fig & Bacon Grilled cheese. The 1911 Black Cherry ciders were amazing. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Definitely will plan to revisit in the future.
This was my second time eating here and I have loved everything I’ve tried. The first visit we had the pulled pork nachos and margarita flatbread- both delicious! This visit we had the cheese curds, flatbread again and the fried green tomato BLT- again delicious! Great service, friendly faces, nice atmosphere and quick service. Highly recommend checking this restaurant out! Can’t wait to make another trip to Boone and try another item on the menu.

This restaurant had the most gluten free options or substitutions that I have seen while traveling. My husband and I had already been to Grandfather Winery so we were not extremely hungry. We ordered the cauliflower crust meat flatbread and the Asian chicken salad that was amazing!! He also wanted to try the mama’s hot apple cider with alcohol and oh my word…so tasty! I highly encourage you to visit here while in Boone!
Came here twice while vacationing in Boone. The salmon and Brussels sprouts were delicious. I had the pesto pasta on my second visit and it was much too salty for my liking. Overall, the place seems to always be busy, and for good reason. Good food, drinks and atmosphere.
I like the lively atmosphere here. A great place for an early dinner after a busy day. People are very friendly and like to take advantage of the outdoor seating area when the weather is cooler.
We were in Boone for a girls retreat & had lunch at The Local. It was absolutely delicious. We ordered the brussel sprouts, the margherita flatbread & kale salad for appetizers for 8 people. I had the quinoa bowl with salmon as my main dish. It was all soooo good!! If you haven’t been. You should definitely go. The atmosphere was really nice, they have outdoor sitting & gluten free options for those who need it.
Wonderful spot to grab dinner in Boone! Outstanding cheese curds, NY Strip steak frites, and chocolate torte. Great service and vibes as well.
When we are in Boone, we try to get to this place. Food & drinks are awesome! I had the salmon cake sandwich w sweet potato fries, dirty martini & I'm looking forward to next year to get it again. Highly recommend!
I've never had a bad meal here. The kitchen has always done a great job. Their food so good, presentation always on point.
Service is been good mainly from female severs and bartenders. There was a guy that served us at some point, long hair possibly? Not sure, he forgot a couple of things we ordered he didn't use a notepad.

My wife and I were visiting Boone, NC (July 20, 2023). The Local was highly recommended and it did not disappoint! I had the Apple, Blue, and Bacon flatbread. It was delicious and the honey drizzle kicked it up a notch! My wife enjoyed her Uber Veggie flatbread. The adult beverage cider really complimented the meal. The Mississippi Mud Pie - salted Carmel coffee ice cream cake made a great finishing dessert! But, what really made this meal experience unforgettable was our waitress Emma! She was super upbeat, smiling, engaging, and really made us feel like special customers! She even suggested some local places of interest for us to visit! Five stars + meal and experience! We’ll definitely dine at The Local during our next visit to Boone, NC.
This place has a fun atmosphere. The staff is friendly, helpful, and hard working. Not pictured was the Banhmi —— I highly recommend! It was one of the best I had. The truffle fries, Cesar salad, and Korean tacos are excellent. I was not impressed with the Mac and cheese. Our friend ordered the burger and he said it was perfect. The cocktails were fun and creative.
My husband and I were in town celebrating our anniversary and had dinner here. It was fantastic! Laura was amazing with everything from helping us with our reservations, to bringing us a special anniversary dessert! The food and drinks were delicious and the atmosphere was very welcoming. We will definitely visit again whenever we are in the area!
I was very impressed with Laura and how she described how lovingly she makes their bloody Mary mix. Now I love a good bloody Mary. I don’t think I’ve ever had one this good before. She started off telling me a few ingredients that she emulsifies like tomatoes, roasted red peppers, jalapeños, pickles with juice, etc. The next visit to my table, I asked her a little bit more like are the normal things in the mix like horseradish and Worcestershire and she said yes and listed off a few more ingredients. It was without a doubt, the best bloody Mary I’ve ever had. The food was fantastic too. I started with the cheese curds coated with Parmesan cheese and fried. Of course they were fabulous. It was hard to decide on an entrée, Laura helped and I got the salmon cake, Benedict, totally fabulous. I highly recommend this restaurant. I’m sorry I hadn’t tried it before. I had my dog with me and he was fine sitting on the porch with me. I will be back there for sure. Thank you so much Leslie B.
Originally, we had planned to go to another area restaurant for dinner, but they were unexpectedly closing early. As we wandered around town, we stumbled upon The Local. Though we hadn't made it to eat there, it had been highly recommended to us during our last trip to Boone. We were seated right away, and our server was very friendly. We all had various draft beers and the pesto flatbread as an appetizer. For dinner, I had the blackened goat cheese burger with brussel sprouts. It was all excellent. I'll definitely be back if we're in the area again.

Nice restaurant and bar in Boone. We actually ended up eating there twice in one day and we enjoyed our food both times. The staff was very nice and very attentive. With reservations we had absolutely no problems getting seated promptly and served immediately. Drinks were tasty and quick. Food was mostly good and thus the half star deduct. With a large party we were able to sample different foods. The pizza crusts tasted different from lunch to dinner but was a good pie overall with delicious toppings. The Philly was pretty good and French fries were great. The salads were American size hearty and the adult grilled cheeses and other cheese sandwiches good too. The shrimp and grits needed more shrimp and more grits with less tomato onion combo. Nachos were a bit over cooked but the toppings were great. Overall between the ambiance and great staff we had a fantastic two visits to the Local and would go again.
Great restaurant. Everything we ordered was great. We look forward to trying a lot of other items on the menu in the future. The staff was just what you'd expect in downtown Boone. Everyone was very friendly and made sure we didn't need anything the whole time.

We had seen this place the previous time we visited, so after looking at the menu we took a chance. Our server, Beth, was so sweet & eager to make our dining experience outstanding.
We also met Lanie, one of the managers on duty and she was telling us about what we can do in and around Boone.

After a long day I had to have something like comfort food, I went with the Alfredo pasta with grilled chicken. It was just what I needed. My husband ordered a burger and one to go for our son. No complaints! They love burgers!

Everyone in my group of 11 people absolutely loved the food here! I got a margarita pizza and it was better than some pizzas I’ve had in Italy! My sister who is a steak lover ordered a steak and said that this restaurant is in her top 5! Definitely great food overall! I do wish the menu was easier to look at, it’s digital so it was difficult for my grandparents.
