That lobster tasted so fresh and delicious! Definitely coming back here! Expensive but the quality is there. The crab roll was also amazing but the real star was the lobster roll. Next time I also want to buy some lobster to cook at home, they sell various types of seafood inside the hut.

Very popular lobster purveyor that mostly lives up to the enormous hype and expectations. There was a pretty long line to get through before I could take a bite into my $40 large warm butter lobster roll. It definitely tasted fresh and hit the spot. But it did seem a bit plain to my taste. I would’ve liked something to up the flavor profile just a bit. Maybe a better roll or some fresh dill. I probably wouldn’t get the warm butter roll again. I’d try the classic mayo version instead.

Located by the waterfront, the ambiance was perfect for a relaxing evening. As I sat down and took in the view, I knew I was in for a treat. The lobster roll itself was a masterpiece. The perfectly toasted buttery bun was generously stuffed with succulent, tender lobster meat, lightly dressed with just the right amount of mayo or butter and a hint of fresh lemon. Each bite was a burst of flavor, and the quality of the lobster was simply outstanding. The crab cake is a must order, the clumps of crab are so flavorful. You'll find sharing is not an option. You can order either inside or outside, inside has gifts and fresh seafood by the pound you can order.

We didn’t eat at the actual restaurant. Instead we stopped at their tiny Shack on the street corner. Had the crab cake, lobster roll sandwich and clam chowder. I will say it was All definitely delicious. $40 lobster sandwich was definitely not cheap, but was good and served w/plenty lobster. Overall a cute place to just sit outside and rest between sightseeing.

We heard this place so much but little be disappointed. First of all, they only have outdoor seating area without A/C during summer time it’s not really fun to enjoy the dining experience. The lobster roll bread tastes dry. I was expecting butter roll and it should be grilled little be to have perfect crust but it’s not. The cole slaw does not taste fresh, it was sitting in the fridge for a while. All seafood resale fresh and they do have lots of lobsters. However, I expect the dining experience to be better with its price.

I stopped by James Hook & Co earlier this summer (July 2023) and my immediate memory tells me I had a short yet wonderful visit. Looking at the Lobster Roll picture I took.. I can confirm it was a fabulous, wonderful time. JH is both a tourist destination and a local favorite which means long lines but completely worth it. My only regret is not ordering more food. I got the warm roll, complete with butter. No muss nor fuss. You can taste the sweetness and the salt the lobster swam in - perfect. The seating is casual and everyone understands not to linger too long, give everyone a sitting chance. Lots of love and admiration to the James Hook and Co crew for having the patience and ability to deal with that much foot traffic.

Lobster rolls - the maine cold version - was so good I came here for two meals. The mayo was not too heavy, and the brioche was nice, toasty and not too buttery. The lobster meat was nicely cooked. If you are not a fan of cream, do not get the lobster bisque.

We visited Boston and had a chance at James Hook to get some lobster. So we did on the 19th of August 2023. The lobster was fresh and tasty with Butter … we enjoyed it! In the shop other seafood was available. And some nice merchandise as well. Great recommendation 👍

We didn’t eat at the restaurant. We went to the outside one. I’ve had my share of lobster rolls and gotta say this one was amazing! I preferred the mayo version, but both are great. Not too much bread and TONS of huge lobster. You will definitely stay be full from one of these. No need to get sides. It’s pricey, but for the amount of lobster you get, you can’t complain.

Landed at Logan and first stop had to be James Hook & Co and wowww it did not disappoint! Such a cute place which is more of a seafood deli counter and shop.. a few tables inside and a large heated area with tables outside. The large lobster roll with butter was absolutely legendary.. by far the best I’ve ever had. The meat was so fresh, sweet and plentiful.. I also had the chowda which was delicious and really hit the spot on a cold day. The crab cake was very tasty and a good value. This was my first time in Boston and I’m so happy I went straight from the airport to James Hook.. if you are a seafood lover this place is an absolute must visit!!

We shared a large butter lobster roll, a medium clam chowder, a water and a draft beer for $83 including tip. So we felt it was a little pricey for the overall experience. The lobster roll was good with a good portion size. It was raining, so we were happy to be able to sit inside at one of the few small tables. The entire restaurant is inside a mobile work trailer. There are additional outside tables if the weather cooperates. Even though we were in and out before the posted closing time we felt very rushed.

Best lobster to in Boston and the location is one of a kind. Pro tip: go inside and order instead standing at the food truck line that tends to back up. There are some really cool retail items to purchase and the live lobsters inside are HUGE! There is a little bit more on the menu inside, as well. They will bring your food outside to you so no need to stand around waiting. The Large roll is definitely worth the few extra bucks because you basically get twice the lobster meat.

Recently was in Boston and stopped by James Hook & Co. to get my wife a lobster roll. She said it was absolutely delicious and worth it. She decided to go with the option with butter and did not regret. I got a hotdog and enjoyed that too. Highly recommend when in town!

What a fantastic Lobster Shack near the Boston City Center. The best buttered Lobster roll I’ve had. Heaping piles of freshly picked lobster chunks in each bite on a toasted butter roll. Also had the best shrimp cocktail from this place. Just can’t go wrong. Can be crowded during lunch rush but that’s always a good sign. Come to this place for your steamed Lobster and Roll fix

The shrimp and lobster were so fresh! The shrimp were crisp and wonderful. Ate here twice in one day. No GF options. Very busy so you'll wait in line. Seafood market too.
