I lived in Boston in the early 2000's and I used to come to Mama Maria's on dates with my now husband! It was surreal to come back and eat here, and this time we brought our kids.
This restaurant used to be so tiny inside and their tables were so close together, but it was still amazing food and excellent service so we kept coming back. Now- they have tables set up outside in North square! It was the perfect way to bring our family to dine here without feeling bad about kids in a small intimate inside area. The food was amazing as ever, service was impeccable - they didn't make us feel bad for the kids, and we were able to enjoy ourselves.
Kids were able to get any pasta with sauce if their choice.
The squash ravioli with mushrooms was melt in your mouth!
My husband got the Cornish game hen that was fall off the bone and popping with flavor!
They brought over a blueberry pannacotta for me for a birthday dessert. I don't ever order this, but it was silky and Delicious.
Such an amazing night!

Beautiful, relaxing ambiance with tons of outdoor seating. The menu changes to mirror the seasons. All of the food that we ordered was fresh and well prepared, but the stand outs were the Polpette as an appetizer and the Lamb Three Ways as a main course. Service is short but timely. Overall would recommend, but isn’t incredible.

Amazing food!! Impeccable service, everyone from hostess to the bus boy. Must mention Yvonne, Dulcet and Raluca for their special attention. Beautiful place. Overall great place for pasta. I apologize but i didnt get the name of the dishes because we dove right into them. My favorite was the one with creamy white sauce, topped with truffles.

We went for my boyfriend’s birthday, I booked a table online and was really happy with my choice of place. I made some notes while I was making the reservation. The restaurant did everything I asked for. The service was wonderful and food was amazing. The price was reasonable too. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable.
Thank you for the lovely evening and unforgettable memories. I fell in love with the place and got a good vibe from being there.
We will back definitely.

We had a good experience at Mamma Mia. Their rabbit pasta was a standout for me and I think the food arrived quickly considering how it was packed on a Friday evening.
If you’re looking for a quiet, romantic dinner though, I find that the tables are set very close to each other so it can get quite loud.

This place exceeded my expectations. The food was amazing, home made and better than anything I’ve had in a while. Raluca was our waitress and she was phenomal. So sweet, and had great recommendations. The tuna tartare was by far the best I’ve ever had, along with the truffle pasta I ordered. I would come back to Boston JUST to come back to this place 10/10

This is second time we come for dinner in a week and we loved it both times. We ordered the duck leg for appetizer and the ossobuco with saffron risotto and rabbit pasta for main dish. All plates were spectacular! Well plated and prepared.
We’ll be back again. Thanks!

Went 7/29/23. Must make reservations, the chances of you getting in without reservations is very slim, the place was packed. I also made these reservations a like almost 2 months in advance.
Food
The food was fabulous. I was very impressed, the food was fresh, seasoned and good size portions for a fine dine type place. Also, the food took a while to come out but it was delicious! The scallops were the best scallops I have ever had. My lobster ravioli, was so flavorful and tasty! They did not skimp on the lobster it was fresh, seasoned and filled in the ravioli. My fiance also really enjoyed her meal as well.
Dessert
It was ok.
Drinks
We didn't order any
Space
Inside is VERY tight, you sit so close to others. The bathroom was super clean, and their paper towels were 5 stars.
Service
5 outta 5, very kind and was always a step away if you need them.
Getting there is crazy, there is no parking, the street is super narrow and crowded and valet is $30, just uber.

I researched a lot of the Italian restaurants before coming to the North end. Mamma Maria’s made the short list. We were able to get a table for two and I’m glad we did. It’s located off the busy street which is a big relief. They have a large outdoor patio and a very cute cozy inside. The service was great, friendly and attentive. Their menu changes daily but we stuck with the classics. We had the beet salad, stuffed squash flowers, and the meatballs for a starter. Everything was delicious. The squash flowers I wouldn’t order again the breading was a little soft, but the filling inside more than made up for it. The beet salad was fresh and the goat cheese accented it well. The meatballs came with a chunky sauce and cooked nicely. They provide warm bread and pesto as a starter too which was amazing. Dinner we had the pasta con sugo which was their meat ragù with egg pepperoncini tagliatelle which was everything you’d want with this comfort dish. Highly recommend trying this place out.

Second time here, I love this place. Fine dining on the North End, lovely seasonal menu changes regularly. Superb food, service and wines. Emer and Rafael our professional servers looked after us wonderfully, in splendid romantic decor with amazing dishes. Try the lamb three ways or the angry seafood pasta - you won’t be disappointed!

This place is a gem. Beautiful inside and out. Great food at a good price. Worth taking a look at the cocktails as well. We enjoyed the Meat sauce, burrata, and a few drinks for a work celebration. We loved it. Worth a visit for sure and the homemade pasta is unreal. Menu changes daily. Service was great!

The food was really good. And the environment was warm and classy but welcoming. From the start we were brought a basket of warm bread, fresh Pesto and Marinated Olives. For an Appetizer we ordered the Polpetti pork and veal meatballs. The meatballs were phenomenal and just a bit more of the yogurt sauce would have made them perfect.
For our Entrees we chose Pasta con Sugo (Bolognese), and the Cornish Hen.
The pasta was so flavorful and cooked to perfection. The hen was a bit on the dry side but the presentation was well done.
Overall I’d give my experience at Mamma Maria a 4/5.
Order the Lemonade, you won’t regret it!

Service was great, and our server was so nice to check for my allergy with dessert. Our main entrees were amazing, but out cooked oysters were not great. Unfortunately we think that gave us food poisoning!

The food was incredible. The server was friendly and polite. Even though the restaurant was full we had a great time here!

Celebratory meal at Mamma Maria Restaurant, in the North End of Boston, the food here is absolutely delicious, and you will simply crave the fabulously tasteful cooked meal placed in front of you for days.

Mamma Maria made our dinner celebrating our engagement so, so special. The restaurant has such an incredibly intimate, romantic ambience. The wine was fantastic and the food was exceptional. We will be back, and we’ll certainly remember our experience forever.

If you are looking for a Premium Italian dining experience, it doesn't get better than Mamma Maria in Boston.
A little more expensive than most others in the North End, the food & service certainly make the trip worth it. I highly recommend getting an extra dish of food versus a drink here, the portions are on the smaller side if you are hungry. The pesto with the complimentary bread is amazing.
Appetizer:
- Fig Gorgonzola with Prosciutto - If you like any of the ingredients in the name of the dish, GET IT
- Bone Marrow - Phenominal, dip with the bread provided at the table, you'll run out of crostinis
Main:
- Ossobuco - Honestly the best Ossobuco you'll have in Boston and it's ironically the same price of Ossobuco at any other restaurant in the Northend.
- Rabbit Pasta - If you like tender game meat get this <==
Dessert:
- Pistachio Tiramisu - If you are a fan of pistachios just get this, it has the same consistency as tiramisu
- Cheese Board - The cheese selection ranges from Mild to Truffly, the balls of sherry on top were solid with the raspberry drizzle
- Rhubarb Crumble - Very Rhubarby, will not disappoint if you are looking for a dessert with a tart fruit edge

Went here two times and were absolutely pleased both times. The food is amazing. I love the diver scallops appetizer, it was cooked to perfection. We got the veal for entree, it was so beautiful plated that the diners next two us couldn’t stop looking over. The only complaint I have is that I felt quite unwelcome by the host/hostess. Our server and busser were respectful and attentive, though.
