Another place that has been on my "To Visit" list for a long time. The Plymouth Plantation sandwich was phenomenal, as an article I read stated. The chowder was also excellent, and they had a very hard-to-find beer (Heady Topper, if you know, you know ..). The service was exceptionally nice, and I have a soft spot for historic restaurants. This place was great!
Food was great and tasty.... and of great value. Probably the better clam chowder I've had in the city. It is quite thick (you can literally stick a spoon into it and it will hold, if you get the cup portion).
Only issue is that they may make a mistake with orders (got a bousin burger, when I ordered a tavern burger...no issue though...since the food was tasty either way), and check your order at the end...I got charged desert twice.
But overall....a nice pub-fare and friendly service.
Would come back again.
The food and service were both excellent! I wish I remembered my waitress name. She was very nice. We had a cup of chowder- which might have been the best I have ever had- and steak tips and lobster mac & cheese.. everything came out perfect. We will be back!
Great revolutionary era tavern with modern day food options, friendly service, and great beer. The atmosphere was very warm and comfortable, and the food was delicious. And yes...they have a green IPA! And for the Old Fashioned lover, their Earl Grey Old Fashioned was awesome. It's a must visit if you're in Charlestown.
This tavern was very cool. We went because of the history. The food was delicious. We got the soft pretzel and cheese as an appetizer, aland then a cheese burger and a chicken sandwich. We parked on the street at the Bunker Hill Memorial and walked one block to the Tavern. It was an easy walk and parking was free but you have to move your car within 2 hours of parking it.
Lunch was great! Ordered a bowl of clam chowder and a Nashville Chicken Burger. The clam chowder was super thick and creamy. There wasn’t a lot of clams in it, which I didn’t mind too much, but then it really isn’t a CLAM chowder, is it? The chicken burger was good along with the sweet potato fries.
Service was okay. Our waiter gave us too much time to look over the menu, pretty much disappearing. Additionally, when we did spot him, he was on his phone hanging about in the bar area.
Overall, we would return, especially for their weekday oyster deal.
Really cool, historic tavern. The decor and furnishings have retained the history very well. Vibe a local place that the community of Charlestown like to gather. Our sever was very nice and efficient. Lobster roll and onion soup were delicious!
Exhausted after walking the Bunker Hill Memorial, this was the perfect place to rest and grab drinks.
They have spent nearly 250 years perfecting their recipes as the food was timelessly satisfying.
The clam chowder was creamy goodness, and the lump crab cakes had my wife and me fighting over them.
The servers were amiable despite being super busy.
The old tavern atmosphere and incredible history here make this a must-stop location.
Hear about the Warren Tavern from my city tour guide. What a nice little tavern! It’s a little out of the way from my hotel but it’s totally worth the visit. I had lunch here after visiting Bunker Hill , it’s just a few mins walk away. The furnishings of the tavern is classic. I had the Sheperd’s pie, really yum! Portion isn’t too big (for my Asian appetite) so it’s good! I had a really great time in Boston and I think it’s always a good idea to visit all the places with a little history to it.
We really enjoyed the experience at Warren Tavern! It was in close proximity to the USS Constitution, so a quick Uber placed us at a location that both Paul Revere and George Washington hung out. Bartenders were quick, even with the bar being two deep with customers. The server was super nice and efficient. The city line burger was good, truffle fries were a great addition, but the star of my meal was the New England clam chowder. I have lived my entire life in coastal cities and have had clam chowder from countless places, but Warren Tavern has the crown for the best I've ever tasted! Must try!
