We had a great dinner at Lucia Ristorante. We had a group of seven, including two kids. The staff was very friendly answering questions about the menu and making suggestions. They brought out fresh baked bread to start the dinner. We ordered a variety of pastas and entrees and everyone loved their food. There was no kids menu but they made smaller plates of spaghetti for them which was perfect. Great place for authentic and homemade Italian in Boston.
Very solid place for Italian food but didn’t deliver anything to stand out from pack. Food was good but didn’t amaze. Service was sort of lame, the menu talks about Abruzzo influences but the waiter didn’t speak more than 5 words to us let alone try to inform us about dishes or enhance our experience. Again, solid place to eat but it blended in with all the other Italian places in the north end. Also the menu was old and smudged making it hard to read the veal options.
Tried this italian restaurant the other day in the north end. I have to say it was very pleasant and had great food. The arsthetic of the place was good and the staff were excellent.
The food we got was very well done and had good portions, just enough fora good dinner. My penne vodka was very delicious and my family enjoyed their dishes.
This place is a very classic italian restaurant and is a great option when you visit the north end.!
This place is great! Authentic Italian at its best! I had the Gnocchi Spezzatini and it was phenomenal. Couldn't even take a picture of it because I ate it so fast. Definitely a must go if you are at the North End.
A friend took me to Lucia’s for Italian, and I was impressed. The place had those classic Italian vibes, and the food delivered on the promise of authenticity.
Despite the crowds, we were seated and served quickly.
I appreciated the region-specific dishes and how they were subtly different from the traditional Italian food I'm more used to.
spoke with Frank I’m not sure but I think he’s the manager. I found out that Restaurant has been with in the family since 1974. The same owner has owned it all these years with recipes from that little town in Italy that he’s from everything was magnificent tonight. they made it Italian soup and they put in the noodles just before they serve it so the noodles are the right texture and the flavor. I cannot describe it. everything, the vegetables, the noodles, the herbs, the broth was perfectly melded together. nothing sticks out, you just know that your mouth is having a party. My husband had the lasagna. Unlike any lasagna we’ve ever had. they take the ricotta cheese and cook down the water out of it, and whip it with the veal. so there’s very little cheese in this lasagna but they do something else. I don’t know it’s gotta be some kind of a secret but trust me it is wonderful. our friend had a Bolognese. He prefers it with spaghetti as opposed to the noodles if they offered, and unlike other restaurants, they accommodate his request to put the Bolognese sauce over the spaghetti as opposed to the Palmatory. everything was so good. Except one little thing the bread 🥖 not so much. It’s some kind of chewy sourdough bread. I would not waste the calories on it. Other than that. Perfection.
They got us in quickly on a Saturday night at 7:45pm! But it was downstairs, which was fine. It looked pretty neat down there. We were at the far end under an a/c unit, so we were colder than most there. And our server was the bartender, and didnt have much of the Italian charm. He took a while to come and said "what do ya want" and that was about it. The food was ok. The bruschetta had pretty huge chunks of tomato and not a lot of flavor. Soup was great! The chicken marsala was ok, but also not as flavorful as we had hoped. We skipped dessert and went down the street to Mike's for a cannoli.
Our group stopped by Lucia after trekking along the first half (downtown and North End portion) of the Freedom Trail. We were pretty hungry after seeing the Old North Church and decided to backtrack slightly for lunch. It was pretty quiet for a Saturday afternoon, so they were more than able to accommodate our large group. Definitely be aware that the menu here is pricey, especially for lunch.
I (we) ordered the tricolore, which is shared between 2 people ($38). The pasta dish is split among three portions, each with a different type of pasta and colored sauce - spaghetti in tomato, tortellini in cream, and gnocchi in pesto - to represent the tricolored Italian flag. It's certainly a creative presentation. There's no meat or any mix-ins, so the dish feels quite simple, but tasty nonetheless. My favorite section was the tortellini in cream, though I was hoping that the portion size (especially for the price) would be a bit bigger for 2.
The gnocchi abruzzese was incredible! We enjoyed our meal and really liked the food. I will say that the bruschetta was a bit sub-par, but everything else was great. The service could have been better as staff did not check in much. Overall, it was still a great dinner.
Ordered the lasagna, which looked heated up from frozen when it was served. Confirmed when I bit into a cold spot about half way through. Taste was good just disappointed about the cold spot.
It’s hard to choose a restaurant in the North End. We ended up at Lucia by random selection and were not disappointed. We ordered a seafood dish and a mushroom and sausage pasta. Both were delectable! They were flavorful and the textures were perfect. We would eat here every day if we could.
One of the best Italian restaurants that I've visited! We visited over Labor Day weekend with my best gal friend. Much to choose from on the menu. Weather was perfect to sit outside on their patio area. Food incredible & my favorite summer time drink, Aperol Spritz, was being made! I would definitely recommend stopping in for a bite if you are in the area.
Absolutely fantastic. We were in and out in less than an hour with appetizer and main course. Never felt rushed. Amazed at how fast the food came out and it was the best pesto I've had. Three dishes between us, plus the bread and all delicious.
Lucia Ristorante is a consistent Italian restaurant in the North End. Overall, the food is good and the portions are good sized for the prices you pay. I have been a few times, twice to the North End and once to their other location, both were good. Service at North End location was subpar both times but the other location service was fantastic. I went on a Sunday pretty early and was one of two tables and the waitstaff still didn’t come greet us for over 10 minutes and our drinks sat empty for quite some time. I’d chalk it up to young carefree staff for this. Check it out and see what you think!
Great italian restaurant at the North End of Boston! Atmosphere feels real Italian, food and service were excellent. They were gracious enough to accommodate 8 of us in one big table, which made it feel even more Italian 😊 Greatly appreciated!
Such a wonderful, gorgeous restaurant. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Enjoyed our first Valentine's Day there. Hope to come back to Boston again and this place
