Overall this was a very good experience and I would go back. We had a reservation and were greeted warmly and sat promptly. I was initially disappointed by two things-it’s was 2pm and we were given the dinner menus and not lunch menus and the bread brought to the table seemed stale -and no oil for dipping as I expected in the North End. Butter was cold and hard to spread. Not the end of the world but not a good first impression. We ordered an antipasto which for $20 was the size of a small dinner plate. The meats were nice, no cheese, olives, tomatoes, banana peppers, romaine with a nice lightly seasoned olive oil and vinegar simple dressing. We ordered eggplant parm (no side was included) which was very good and chicken puttanesca which was nothing short of amazing. It came with broccoli (light steamed and crunchy the way I like it but I know my mom would’ve considered it way too hard) and a sliced boiled potato which was surprising but I enjoyed it. The puttanesca sauce was out of this world good and alone will bring me back. We got perfect cappuccinos to end our meal. I felt the portions were lunch sized with dinner prices but overall enjoyed the food enough to return.

We loved this restaurant! They sat us on the second floor which was so charming and lovely - it was quite cozy up there - a very nice treat after a long tiring day. The food was incredibly delicious and their sauce is excellent. The service was fabulous - Our waitress was very attentive and sweet. We could not have been more pleased. When I head back to Boston I hope to have dinner there again!

Food was amazing! One of the best Italian restaurants I’ve been to! If you go, definitely ask to be seated downstairs. It’s beautiful! Blue lights and garlands all over with tons of art! I would say the service was a little off. We were not checked on after receiving our meal, and she was very quick to take our order and move elsewhere. Overall, good food and beautiful restaurant.

Classic North end spot. Went on my first date with my girlfriend 8 years ago, and same quality today. Service was somewhat poor. Brought parm and bread but no oil, forgot drink, spilled dish. Regardless of this, going back and will always. Ravioli bolognese was awesome and atmosphere can't be beat

I've eaten here several times in the past. I do indeed like going here as I have never had a problem getting a table. The food is pretty good, and on some of my visits it's been top notch. I actually thought I rated this restaurant before, but I guess I didn't... Had I known, I would have taken pictures of our meals. I will definitely return again.

After many years living in Texas I was able to return to Boston to enjoy a day-after-Christmas respite. Despite the horrible recent reviews I found Saraceno to be exceptional. Greeted at the door without waiting we were taken into the quaint and very quiet downstairs, close to the kitchen where we enjoyed the comings and goings of the staff. One wonderful attribute of this tiny area with four tables, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling racks of wine, was the attention of Uma, our table captain. Uma was everpresent - we wanted for nothing all evening. The food was exceptional - veal pizzaiola and Ravioli al Formaggio. The veal was fork tender and the sauce bright and flavorful. The smooth cheese ravioli were huge and cooked to perfection with a wonderfully meaty bolognese. The wine list, while compact, is varied and rich with plentiful wines from most regions in Italy. We chose a beautiful Barolo to accompany our meal. I still give Ristorante Saraceno my unconditional must-try recommendation.

Pros.. It's one of those places where the owner is there checking up on ya and taking care of his paying customers. He really cares and makes an effort that you have a pleasant dining experience. With that being said the food is good and classic, and you get what you expect. (Large portions) The servers are incredibly polite, flexible, and willing to go the extra mile. We Immediately received our food after ordering! Like waited maybe 5 minutes which is insane! Cons It's cozy or claustrophobic depending on who you are, they make do with the limited footprint. It took a bit to get seated when we arrived with reservations.

We celebrated our 35th anniversary by going to Boston. Found this gem and had a great conversation with Frank at Saraceno. Plan to go back and learn some cooking methods from him after he in voted us to share on his kitchen. Phenomenal! We will make this happen!

Wonderful service, wonderful food, and the waiter recommended some wonderful wine. Neither Cheaper nor more expensive than most other places in the North End -- Most pasta dishes are sizable portion And over 20 dollars.

This cute Italian eatery is full of surprises. A start with a walk up to the third floor, romantic dining room set a good mood for the evening. It's tastefully decorated to mimic a real European dining spot and wasn't too loud or too quiet. They provided good wine and good food, I strongly recommend the Ravioli and the Lasagna. The waiter (Eduardo) flattered me into leaving a good tip, too.

This has always been our favorite place to get Italian food in the north end. It's all delicious! We love the food and the atmosphere. Small, intimate place where you'll hear Italian spoken and friends enjoying a meal together. This past trip, though, we went 3 times and while the food was wonderful, our last server padded the bill a bit. He was unaware that we weren't 1 time guests and charged us $6 more for our after dinner drinks. (Most often, the owner gives them complimentary, but at times we pay for them also.) He wasn't very friendly and acted as though he was superior to us. Unfortunately for him, I knew the price difference and it was reflected in his tip. Pay attention to your bill!

Lots of tasty pasta options and lunch specials, service was fast and the number of regulars is a testament to the quality of this veteran restaurant. The bread in the basket was a little dry and only came with butter and no olive oil like other tables which I didn't realize until I left but probably a one off. I would try more at this very old school menu and service Italian establishment
