Food, ambience, service, cocktails...THE BEST! I've moved from Roslindale (we used to be walking distance) but no matter how far I'll go, it won't stop me coming back to this one of a kind gem. No other place like it. As such, it really has my affection. Also gluten free options and vegetarian options! You can't go wrong.

The ziti was exceptional and a big portion. Service was great and we had a great time at the bar with bartenders. This will become my neighborhood spot!

So many great options! Great drinks, my favorite is the Sophia Loren... the appetizers are a meal by themselves... pizzas are good, pastas too! The Boston salad is delicious, sandwiches and fries, yum! Antipasto...mmmmm! Always specials to consider... and the cannoli...wow! Go now, but make reservations! My favorite restaurant locally!

Came here on 1/14/17 and loved it. We had the roasted Brussels sprouts, arancini, short ribs, a pizza and tiramisu for dessert. Everything was excellent and great service too. Very cool space inside with nice atmosphere. I will definitely eat here again when I'm in town.

My boyfriend and I made reservations to have our anniversary dinner at Sophias. Our first time there and we were so excited. Something ended up happening and our reservations got messed up. The manager, John, was very very apologetic and offered us to come in another night with dinner on them. He called me three times to make sure I got the message! When we arrived we were seated outside. our waitress was amazing, the food was out quick and very delicious. Will definitely be back and really appreciate them going above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of after the mix-up.

Sophie's Grotto put out a delicious spread for the reception. The Paella was to die for and so was the butternut squash raviolis. It was a great place to party. Loved it.

The Better Roslindale Option. The place is cute, as casual if you want but also elegant, with friendly service, a fairly interesting menu and good food. Nothing is amazing or foodie-level innovative, but the experience is overall quite good.

Highly recommend! Best to go on a Saturday night or Sunday as they buy from the Farmer's Market on Saturday morn and all the veggies are crunchy goodness. I had the sirloin last time I visited. Superb! It's one of the most popular places in the area so expect it to be busy!

Delicious pasta and entrees. We loved all of the food we had. The ravioli had so much flavor and the white wine sauce was delicious. Chicken parm was simply done right with deep flavor and comforting tastes. My mojito was great too. Vibes are definitely better on the outdoor patio than the indoor area which is nothing spectacular. Service was absolutely lovely. We’ll be back!

Sophia's Grotto on the patio during a summer night is one of the best parts of living in and around Roslindale. The service is always great and personable. The food is always spectacular (I love their paella). Great place for a date or girls night. Looking forward to my next visit here!

The food was outstanding!!!!!!! I ordered the Sirloin steak, and it was awesome! The place is very hidden in a alley. The inside is small, but it wasn’t crowded at all. I accidentally ate some of the steak before I took a photo 😂.

What a wonderful dining experience in the Roslindale neighborhood. Hidden in a cute alley, this is a charming Italian restaurant that is sure to please. We sat outside under heat lamps on a chilly night, and were very comfortable. The staff was prompt, attentive and very efficient. Most importantly the food was outstanding. We loved the crostini apps, and the various pasta entrees and specials. Everything was cooked to perfection- which made for a great evening!

1st time @ Sophia's Grotto. The ambiance of the establishment is very intimate and small. Low dim light setting. The food was well seasoned & tasty. Will return.

Very charming and good food! The wait staff were very kind and I loved the patio. However, the inside is WAY too dark for me. I enjoyed sitting outside but I don’t think I would come back if I had to sit inside.

Such a lovely place! I love that the outdoor seating is away from any active streets; it was a beautiful atmosphere and delicious food! The portions were very generous, making the prices super reasonable. Highly recommend for a romantic Italian dinner date!

This neighborhood Italian place is hard to find and very busy, but well worth the wait. We loved the calamari, artichoke hearts, the mussels, and pasta dishes. Deduct a star for their desserts, not made on site. The cannoli was nice but ordinary, the rest of our meal outstanding!

This place has a really great ambiance. When we went to eat, it felt like you were transported out of Roslindale. The food was flavorful. My salmon was overcooked and the deserts were average. We ordered mock-tinis and my sister enjoyed their steak. Will definitely go again but I might not order the salmon again. Their prices were a tad high but a nice place to go if your looking to treat yourself on some fairly good Italian food once every now and then.

The Grotto is a hidden gem. Laid back, fun, and family-friendly (but a bit classy too), with good food, a great wine list, and long-time staff that have it all covered. Find the Grotto! You'll be happy you did!

Wonderful patio dining and atmosphere. We absolutely enjoyed the open face ravioli and the caseretti al pesto. The torino pizza is also delicious.
