I really wanted to love this place and I do think it's good but it just can't get 5 stars....why? Well,
It was down to the experience and that was down to the staff.
We brought our 10 year old here for her birthday with her 12 year old sister. I had built up the restaurant and was so excited. We came in and the front of staff was great. Very warm and friendly.
We were placed at a table on the outside of the inner circle and waited for our server- timeliness was not the issue. It was when she walked up, we were all excited about this unique restaurant, you could tell she just wanted to get through the day. So our excitement was slowly diminished as lunch went on with our drip of a waitress.
The food was good but not incredible. It felt like you could get it anywhere - like The Friendly Toast. It didn't exceed expectations and I could have pushed this to a 5 had it been really good. But the food was just good not great and the staff was ok not good- so here's where we are. The cups for the hot Chocolate were great though and we bought 2 of those in the shop.
Also, just a note, it was a birthday lunch and nothing was done to make my daughter feel special. I booked it and told the hostess. A birthday hot chocolate or a cupcake with a candle could have been nice, but maybe this is done on purpose to get you to do the dessert.
We probably won't trek into town again to go here for lunch. And we probably wouldn't come back if I was in the area.
Great service but the bar was slow so getting a drink took a while other than that this was a great place to eat and go into a chocolate coma. Next time we'd may just go for the deserts they are that filling and delicious. The food looked just like their pictures. They take pride in what they do here. The manager came by our table 2 times during our meal to check on us. This is a must try.
It smelled great from the moment I walked in. It smelled like fresh chocolate being churned. The dessert options were massive. The hot chocolate and the waffle dessert was fantastic. Great place to stop by for a sweet treat after dinner! (They do serve food here as well)
I first tasted this restaurant at Philadelphia two years ago, the experience was amazing I just felt in love with their food. Yesterday was the third time visiting this restaurant but in Boston, to celebrated my birthday, everything was so good, our entrees and the dessert. I really love their food. They kept the quality in food and services. Excellent!
Insane place! Sure, it’s very chocolate focused not also great food, admittedly comfort food primarily. The quesadilla was amazing, not a heavy soggy affair, light and flakey like a thin crust pizza crust. The Mac & Cheese was excellent. Desserts were crazy, try a Hug Mug or jar dessert. Great service, fast, friendly. Lots of good choices in the area and this place won’t disappoint. Go and have some fun.
Our wait staff Stephanie was quick and friendly. She had help from another server they were both fantastic. The dessert pizza was delicious. All our food was. Can't wait for another time to go back.
not crowded for a Saturday morning, plenty of seating and nearby clothing stores if you need to wait. Shashuka was subtle, the breakfast burger deserves a special mention. The deserts lived up to the hype, notably the waffles. Overall great experience.
Cozy breakfast joint - not just chocolate affairs, either. You can get traditional fare and fare just as well!
Nice people, too.
It's worth a try if you're really aiming for breakfast/brunch.
Had a pizza shared with my husband, we were both full! The drink was tasty. It’s such a nice place, the food is really good.
Visited Boston so many times and never knew about this place. I hate myself for that and for all the times I could of went here more. If you like chocolate and always dreamed of visiting Willy Wonkas Chocolate Factory then do yourself a favor and treat yourself to some Max Brenner!
Chocolates loaded and full on carb zone! Yummy fondue and finger foods. We ordered Quesadillas, hummus plate and pizza which were delicious. Then we ordered chocolate pizza and chocolate fondue which were insanely delicious. Must visit and worth trying once if you are in Boston.
Overall nice place for a casual lunch. Fondue options great for a nice treat and date option. Nothing special though. Had the Brenner burger; at $17.00 vs $14.00 for the cheeseburger which is the same thing but with 2 onion rings and a pittance of veggies, not worth it.
It was my first time back in a while so I wanted to try the sampler dessert to figure out what I like. I really enjoyed the crepe so I would just get that if I went again. The fondue was nice but the chocolate was difficult to work with even though it was kept warm over a flame. Great desserts.
I usually go here only for desserts. They have a really good chocolate fondue. It comes with good options (strawberries, banana, brownie etc) and is enough for 2-3 people. If you feel adventurous you should definitely try the chocolate pizza. They also have a small shop attached to it where they sell chocolates.
Absolutely loved this place! This place is all about chocolates and deserts. They also have a bar and a chocolate shop inside. They have a wide variety of chocolates and deserts on their menu.
The presentation is something I was really impressed with. The ambience here is great and makes me feel like coming back every day!
It's definitely a must visit place for deserts.
