I love that this place exists! The atmosphere was quiet and the service was good. The food was tasty. I thought that maybe the vegi-chicken was just like tough tofu though so that was a bit disappointing. I would probably order something different if I were to come again, but I got the veggie tempura and vegi chicken vermicelli noodles and it was alright. Good prices!

Highly recommend this restaurant. I go in for their soups - especially the tofu noodle soup and the wonton soup. Very delicious and healthy! Very reasonably priced--when all other restaurants are raising prices, Grasshopper remains affordable. Such friendly staff!!

Everything we had here was delicious! I would highly recommend the tempura, scallion pancake, and sautéed spinach for appetizers. For mains, everyone liked the No Name best and the Grasshopper Special. It was really delicious and I’m so glad it was all vegetarian and mostly vegan! They were so attentive and accommodating for our big party. Thank you! We appreciate you all! We’ll definitely be back!

Grasshopper is the best! The no name is incredible, and the lomein is great. They are incredibly consistent, friendly and the photos of animals on the walls are my favorite. Love love this place.

Super sweet staff. Relaxing environment. I’m still blown away that this place even exists. A VEGAN Chinese restaurant? Right here in Boston? Wow! I really enjoyed the No Name -especially as leftovers, however I was disappointed that the Wontons didn’t have a creamy interior, it was just “meat”. I was expecting to bite into a warm, gooey filling but it was just dry “meat” stuffing which wasn’t very seasoned. The chick’n fingers would’ve been absolutely perfect except they were too sweet and lacked in the flavor department. I would recommend going! It’s not often you come across an all vegan Chinese restaurant and their menu is extensive. They even have lunch specials (only valid on weekdays)!

Been there repeatedly and tried several different things on the menu. But, my favorites have always been "Grilled Vegetarian Chicken" appetizer and the house special "Sweet and Sour Sensation". I did not like the House fried rice though. Plan to return to explore the rest of their menu and perhaps the buffet option that they offer once every month.

Absolutely phenomenal. There are so many vegetarian-friendly dishes in Asian cuisine but not necessarily always vegan-friendly options. At Grasshopper, the service is outstanding, the environment is calm, the options are plentiful, the portion sizes are excellent, and the prices are beyond amazing. The taste of all dishes is excellent and it’s a stellar experience all-around, even later on a Friday night. Your only issue will be parking, so plan your commute wisely!

One of my favorite vegan Asian restaurants in Boston - amazing food quantity & quality and service. Have been here twice - got the lemongrass seitan lunch special the first time, which was generously portioned and tasty. The hot and sour soup that came with was just the right amount of spicy and acidic. I couldn't believe it was less than $8 before tax and tip! The second time, I came with a friend, and we ordered the sizzling plate dinner platter (it was lunch, but the dinner platter is available at all times, and adds soup, salad, and white or brown rice for $3 total). We also got the vermicelli with "chicken" (#42). The sizzling plate was delicious, with just the right balance of veggies and substitute meats. The vermicelli was not quite as good, as the noodles were plain with some sauce, and only lettuce and carrots as vegetables - I was expecting the noodles to be fried. The dish was still tasty, but I wouldn't get it again. Overall, still an amazing spot. The staff are very kind and helpful in suggesting what to order, the setting is nice and well-lit, and the food is really unique and filling. Will definitely be a regular from now on!

A stellar veg/an Asian experience. Great service, quaint furnishings, and the food is the star. Amazing portions for the price, fast preparation and just the right amount of craving-meeting goodness without being too heavy or greasy. Curry coconut seitan curry, buckwheat noodles with tofu and veggies, veggie tempura, tofu and sweet potato hand rolls and edamame rounded out the meal, with complimentary jasmine tea.

This place makes no sense! Its a vegan/vegetarian place, but I love meat and I still enjoyed everything I ate here. All of the meat substitutes they serve here use vegetable bases, but somehow manage to taste like actual meat, even down to the texture. I had a very filling and delicious meal that consisted of "chicken tenders" and a spicy black pepper "beef". The items were made from seitan, which is a type of wheat flour, but if you had told me it was meat I would have totally believed you. Absolutely recommended especially since the food was prepared excellently and with good taste. The order took a while to arrive, and the restaurant gave us a 25% discount for our troubles from the total bill which was a nice gesture. Please check this place out if you like Asian cuisine at all, and especially if you're vegan/vegetarian and even if you're not!

Live in Coolidge Corner, ordered on GrubHub. Fast turnaround, food was hot, and everything was absolutely delicious. The fried tofu skin appetizer was so good I would happily have made a sandwich of it, and the No Name really showcases seitan. I WILL be back. The picture is showing half eaten, because...

Great place to eat even if you aren't vegetarian or vegan! My favorites are the No Name, Eggplant and Tofu Surprise, Lobster, and a good old plate of sauteed spinach or watercress. The portions are very generous and there is always enough for leftovers. Service is always friendly and they are happy to exclude/add certain ingredients where possible. The lunch buffets are a good deal as well. Food is kept hot, and was replenished frequently.

Outstanding food and and service. They have alot of the popular menu options on the lunch menu which is super cheap ($8ish for a dish) and includes green tea. They will modify the dish in any way you like. Dinner is about $11 to 14 per dish. All food is vegan. Parking is doable with an extra trip or so around the block. Restaurant was a bit chilly as we were they when the first opened. Would definitely go back.
