Al's South Street Cafe - Boston - Photo album

I frequent pretty often for lunch and there’s only one issue that I have with them. I don’t want to feel like I’m doing something illegal or “weird” when I add pesto to my tuna. I get it it might be out of the ordinary but it taste good. Good sandwiches and salads. Hard to find another spot in the
The subs are some of the best in Boston- a lot of choices on the menu- and they’re really quick with getting your order ready. Plus the subs are massive and not too expensive-Would highly recommend checking this place out! Also ordering online is definitely the way to go if you can.
One of the better "bang-for-your-buck" lunch spots in Downtown Boston. Great sandwiches, both hot and cold, for around $8. If you want to go here, try to go BEFORE 11:30. This place is fantastic AND cheap, therefore extremely popular. If you wander in at 12:30, get ready to stand in a big line.
Al’s South Street Is Thee Best Sub Shop In Boston Bar None. Their Chicken Pesto Sub Is Fit For A King. Their Grilled Chicken Is Cooked As If It Is Baked In A Pyrex Dish Like I Cook My Chicken At Home. So Juicy And Tender. The Locomotive Runs On Diesel, The Engineer Runs On Al’s!
Overall I loved their salads with additional chicken, very much worth the price. However, they mixed up my order (the paper bag said teriyaki but I wasn't given teriyaki chicken) and only provided one set of utensils for two people.
Expect the speed of Subway, the authenticity of street food, and deliciousness of a 5 star restaurant. These people are sandwich gods, they don’t have time for small talk or overly excessive politeness they’re too busy curating perfection between buns.
What an awesome sandwich shop! the staff was amazing the place was clean and the sandwiches were absolutely unbelievable. I loved it and if I'm ever in town again I will definitely go back.
Great Italian Italian. Roll was cut fresh and steaming, beautiful slices, lettuce and tomato, cherry pepper spread, laid on deliciousness! Got the full size and get to push some to later to eat watching playoffs!!!
Their bread is phenomenal. My husband was so happy with his sandwich. We planned a trip from NY around visiting Als!
I ran into Al’s for the first time in Harvard Square not knowing what a lunch phenom it would become. This location in Boston is the veritable lunch sandwich Mecca for your choice of hot or cold subs, chips, and drinks. Even a small sub could feed a grown hairy man for 2 days. Lots of meat and lots
Great place to get a sandwich. I really enjoyed the bread. :)
I order from Al's for a staff lunch, and its hard to know where to begin. The staff were all so kind, responsive, professional and easy to work with. The food was amazing. We were trying to accommodate numerous food restrictions, and we were able to easily find delicious options on the menu. They we
Food is good. Pastrami sandwich. Small is pretty large but also expensive at $12. Counter attendant is little hostile.
Best chicken salad in the city. Came here a few weeks ago after the lunch rush and the credit card machine broke for about 45mins. Didn’t have cash so had to run across to CVS in South Station. Otherwise they’re friendly and fast.
I love the service here and the subs are always worth it.
Personally think this is the best sandwich place in Boston by far. I've never had a bad sandwich from them (and have been going here for years), the service is always incredibly fast, and the prices are somehow still pretty cheap despite the large serving size. Best tuna salad, chicken salad and I
