I am so thankful tonight for Sushi Zen. Being a celiac is not a choice; and it's certainly not easy.
After trying out 2 new places for dinner and needing a third for a number of different reasons - it's nice to come back to my home and local areaa and have restaurants that take offering gluten free food seriously. I understand that it does not affect everyone how it affects me, but there are many like me. I appreciate that Sushi Zen not only offers a gluten free menu, but HAS TAKEN the time to educate the staff on gluten free and gluten free protocols. It was so refreshing even after being there numerous times, being assured they would use real crab in my rolls and the chefs would change their gloves when preparing my food.
I have never had to worry about Sushi Zen or worry that "today might be the day" when dinning at this location. The staff is so friendly and we always have an amazing experience. Thank you for all you do Sushi Zen to care about the seriousness of having celiac's disease and providing outstanding customer service. Kyle was our server tonight and allowed me to vent quickly about my terrible experience and took it upon himself to ensure I had a great visit. Thank you Kyle as well, keep up the awesome work! We'll definitely be back to see you.
Cannot rave enough about Sushi Zen! My husband and I came here for our first date many years ago and it is still one of our favorite date night places. Yesterday we came in for lunch and the service was so accommodating. The Red Wing Roll is my absolute favorite roll - however I am pregnant and cannot eat the raw tuna that is normally in it. I explained this to our server (I believe his name was Aaron - highly recommend, he was great), and asked if the sushi chef would be willing to use a different cooked fish. He went to ask and they said it was no problem to substitute something cooked instead. The roll came out and it was just as delicious as usual and no one seemed annoyed at my request, which I really appreciated. We will always return to Sushi Zen, for the amazing food and the great service!
I have eaten sushi in New York, LA, Las Vegas, San Diego, Tokyo... And Brighton. Sushi Zen rivals the best of the best. The freshness, the presentation, the selection, the location is all exemplary. And no, I dont own stock in the place. I do like Yoon and Felicia the owners but my review is real, honest and candid. One of the best sushi restaurants I have ever frequented and trust me, I have frequented many!
I discovered this sushi place over a year ago. I try to visit every couple of weeks because the food is wonderful & the staff is friendly. Love this place. Highly recommend.

Sushi Zen has been a great experience each time I go. We've been in a booth and at the sushi bar, each time we have had great service and even got an extra little surprise from one of the chefs at the bar. Which was great, it is a very nice atmosphere and the food is excellent. I'm not a huge fan of their Ginger dressing, I think it's a little sour for my taste but they have some of the best rolls I've tried. I think they need to expand to a bigger restaurant because everyone seems to love it.
We went on an early Sunday afternoon to avoid the very busy evenings. We've not had such excellent sushi since we moved to Michigan from Southern California. The service was impeccable and the gluten-free menu was spot on. It's hard for me to eat out since I often get sick from most "gluten-free" menus some restaurants offer! I'm happy to report there was no cross contamination and it was a lovely experience!
Wow I can't believe I haven't rated this place yet. So my girlfriend is a celiac and every time we go out, it can be stressful for her. But Sushi Zen has never hurt her. They are knowledgeable in all allergies and have a gluten free menu she can eat from. Every server we have had has been super awesome. Tonight we had a man by the name of Kyle. Serious I am in a small business and I wish I had 1000 workers like him. If the owners are reading this, give Kyle a raise. Also about the owners. I believe they are married. One time we saw them set up at the taste of brighton. The owner himself cleaned the area and made my girlfriend a gluten free hand roll so she had something to eat. This is some major bonus points in her and my eyes. I wish you all many more successful years for you are a true business that cares about your art, craft and your customers
This place was really good! Good atmosphere, good portion sizes for the price, great taste eith a HUGE selection of rolls, and great service! Glad we found it.
This is the go to place for me when I want sushi! The food and drinks are great and the staff is always very nice! �
Great night out for a ladies night out! We always receive great service it's usually just my hubby and I but we have a group of 8 and got the best service for a big group with all separate tabs! My favorite sushi 🍣 place!!

This was my first time at Sushi Zen and also my first time to ever eat sushi and I am hooked. The food was delicious, the service was amazing and the whole atmosphere made for a great experience. I will definitely be back.
The sushi here is incredible! Don't let the facade of the building fool you. This place will far exceed your expectations!
Today I ordered Salmon Teriyaki Bento set, the taste is okay. I also ordered additional Sushi roll; Spicy Salmon and Tuna Roll, the taste of both spicy salmon roll and tuna roll is good. There are so many sushi rolls that I’d like to try, may be next visit, and the staff is nice. But I have one comment; I saw only 1-2 chef at the sushi bar wear mask, another 4 chefs didn’t, for hygiene in food preparation it is a must.
They have a separate menu featuring their vegetarian and vegan options, which I thought was really helpful. Make sure to ask about it, because it's not offered with the regular menu.
The vegan bimbimbap was amazing, and my boyfriend said the avocado bomb appetizer was pretty damn good (Not vegan).
If you want to add a little fun to your dining experience, order sake bombs.
I was here in Michigan visiting from St. Louis. My daughter and I were looking for a sushi place. One place we tried had over an hr wait time and we were unable to go. So we came across this place. The sushi was AMAZING and the waitress was so nice. They closed at 10, but we arrived at 9:30. Even though it was late and they were closing soon, we were treated as though we were the first customers of the day. The flavors were amazing. I'm so happy this is where we ended up even though it was our 2nd choice. Definitely would recommend!

I'm picky about eating sashimi, they have to be very fresh and melt in your mouths. That's reason why I come to zen sushi. Beside fresh sashimi, their sushi are super good too. Never disappointed with my order. I also love how friendly the staffs are. Remember call them before you come. They are very busy
The best sushi in Michigan. Hands down. Great service! Great presentation. If someone even mentions sushi we bring up how much we love our Sushi Zen! Our number one date spot and favorite spot to bring our friends and family!

I've been coming here for years and have never had a bad experience. The servers are always friendly and attentive and the sushi is always AMAZING. Best sushi place in michigan.
Great place to go. Best sushi I have ever had. Would recommend to anyone who loves sushi. The dessert was also amazing, I got the hello kitty and the salted caramel cheesecake. 10/10
