Review Smokie's Bbq - Broken Arrow

Chirelle Pearson
My boyfriend loves this place! I’m vegetarian, so it’s not my typical place. The fried okra is pretty good. The potato salad okay, high priced for the little scoop. Southwest salad was good! They have a few different sauces to use at the tables. My boyfriend loved the smokestack sandwich.

I normally do not give five stars out but Smokies is so good and the atmosphere is so accommodating that I cannot help it. I took some pictures of the back of the porch where you can also eat when it's not real hot. They have a really nice setup. They've only gone up $1 for their main menu meals which to me is very reasonable with inflation being what it is. I would definitely recommend Smokies to my family and friends. The prices are comparables to rib crib for any other place that serves barbecue. It's the flavor and the atmosphere that will keep you coming back.

Very good, small local BBQ joint. The ladies that work there are pleasant and stay hooked up. Good food, good prices. Look at the daily specials. I also like that they have several different BBQ sauces at each table! Great place to check out on the east side of Broken Arrow!

This is a secret gem. The food is delish, the staff are so sweet and professional, and the prices are great. Definitely try all the different BBQ sauces and 🥒 plate, plus the " Atomic " Cole slaw. So yummy and 🔥 HOT. ENJOY!!!
Ekaterina Herron
Small local family business with great service and good BBQ. The pork ribs were the best, but the brisket was a bit under seasoned for my taste. Very simple decor definitely brings in the antique vibes.

Since moving to the area my husband and I had been in search for some good BBQ, and other places were a big let down for sure. But Smokies absolutely blew us away. Great delicious food and such wonderful staff! The food had decent portions and plenty of flavor, for reasonable prices. On top of that they really made our kiddos feel welcome. I highly recommend to anyone wanting some actual good bbq, and decent customer service. I know my family will definitely be coming back for sure!

Cute BBQ place. Very friendly people. Pull pork, Chicken and ribs are delicious. Pork is very tasty. You need to try the Sidewinders.
wade kester
I had the 3 meat meal. I liked the ribs best, then pulled pork, and then sliced brisket. The ribs were babyback and had good flavor. Also ordered the Atomic slaw and potato salad. I thought the potato salad was the best of the two. Both around average. I liked the 2 sauces that weren't head country. Not a big place. Order at the table and they bring it to you. The ribs I had were good enough to bring my back though the door.
Bryce Roberts
I only discovered this place last year but they never disappoint when it comes to a great meal! By far some of the best BBQ around and the wait staff is so attentive! I highly recommend them!
Tony Robison
The best tasting food and the most consistent flavor been there several times food and service is always great
James Pirtle
I highly recommend this place the food is so delicious. I suggest if you haven't tried give it a try.

Found this place online. We were in town for a band competition. Very good. Ribs had a great flavor and they had a good selection of sauces. They weren’t the “fall-off-the-bone” kind that I’ve had before, but I’d go there again. Staff were great too.

September 11, 2018 · by willoughbyandy · in Barbecue, Midwest, Oklahoma · Leave a comment. First lunch on this Tuesday takes us to Smokie’s Hickory House, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. We had left Atlanta on Monday afternoon and spent the evening near Conway, Arkansas, on our way to Kansas. After being on the tollway for a couple of hours, we pulled off in Broken Arrow and went looking for Smokies. We were heading here from another list – the Garden ‘N Gun BBQ Bucket List from 2017. The reason for the visit? Smoked bologna.

I've been here many times and had pretty good BBQ. Today I ordered a half rack of ribs and sad to say they were pitiful. Probably just a bad batch but the ribs were so tough I couldn't eat them. It was close to eating beef jerky. Shoe leather.

Fantastic food. Great service. Some of the best bbq in town. Get there early if you want ribs. Love this place. Desserts are good too. Cant wait to go back.

BBQ kinda in middle of nowhere BA but definitely worth the drive. Got the Fat Boy platter with all the meats. The ribs and sausage were my favorite, only thing that disappointed me was the sliced brisket. The brisket was sliced thin like lunch meat, I'm kinda a thick cut kinda guy. The sides were all great and the staff was friendly. Great BBQ at a great price.
Jake Linnabery
We had a sampler plate that was more than enough for two guys. The ribs, pulled pork, smoked Bologna, and hot links were all good! Onion rings were delicious. Wait staff was excellent and attentive.
Michael Wallace
Incredibly good BBQ in the middle of nowhere. It's totally worth the short drive. The ribs are amazing. Brisket and pulled pork are also very good. The place is small and fills up quickly during lunch.
Leesa McGough
New favorite barbecue place. I got the three meat combo plate with ribs, sliced brisket, and Bologna. For my sides, I ordered fries and sidewinders. Everything was sooo good, and I'd definitely recommend trying it!
James
Very good! Smokies is an outstanding restaurant. The barbecue was phenomenal and great for a small business. The meat tasted good and homemade and the sauce was incredible. Definitely a place for barbecue lovers to go!
Frank Gallagher
This is some of the best BBQ around. I rank it a very close second to Burn-Co. The Razorback sandwich is my personal favorite. It's a great place at a good price with fantastic food.
Lindsey Curtis
Really great BBQ! Smokey, tender and flavorful meats. This is the place to go If you want bbq the right way! If you are ever in broken arrow make a special trip here. I don't think you'll be dissapointed!
Cheryl McCabe
Great food!!! Some of the friendliest staff I've ever met! And the atmosphere is fantastic with some wonderful blues playing in the background

Amazing bbq will be back again. Very popular but out of the way but well worth it. Split a plater with everything on it and still had a full meal left over.
Sidney Calhoun
The best service, smoked what ever you want. Okra, fried dills and fries. The best sweet tea ever. Not much ambiance, but that's what made this a treat. I am from Idaho, found this little place near my family. Wish they had take out to Idaho. Thanks for a Great Meal. S. C.

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!!!!!! From the beans to the BBQ sauce! Every side dish was awesome and the smoked meats are to die for. This review makes me sound like a fat ass but I went with a couple others and we sampled each other's. Definitely worth driving across town for. And will return again and again and again.....and again and again!!!!
Rmooretds
Great barbecue. I haven't tried the ribs yet but the Razor Back is awsome.
Christy Ryan Becker
Fantastic! Ordered the Razorback with onion rings and okra. Had our food within 5 minutes. Everything was really good and loved the sauces too!
Stephen Winston
Best BBQ in Oklahoma! Ribs oh man the ribs! Friendly staff and cheap beer! They definitely do not skimp on the que either! Love this place and it is now my new fave!
Joe
BEST RIBS in the Tulsa area. Great chopped brisket, smoked chicken, and hot links as well. Several Oklahoma made sauces to choose from. Baked beans, Atomic slaw, fried pickles - phenomenal.
Steve
Just one complaint. Smokies was everything we expected. Friendlay service, a warm inviting atmosphere and for the most part, terrific BBQ. I just have one issue. For me BBQ is all about the ribs so if they are not super tender, fall off the bone delicious I am disappointed. That was the case with Smokies ribs. My wife and I both ordered 3-meat combos and as usual shared back and forth. The sausage, chicken, brisket, ham and pork were all fantastic. The ribs I had though were very tough, definitely not smoked long enough. The flavor was OK but tough ribs to me are a fail. If anyone from Smokies monitors these blogs I would really like to know if this is the norm or did I just order ribs on the wrong day.
Ralph
Highly recommended! "Bad Back Ribs" are outstanding; didn't need sauce. Baked Beans and Atomic Cole Slaw were excellent. Only 16 tables but very efficient & friendly on a Friday night at prime time. You won't regret it!

This place was really guude! Been open for 2 1/2 years. Family owned & operated. Great smokey flavor - red ring of flavor... Chopped beef & Sliced pork were my favorite.Sauce on the side like it should be :) Eat the locals!

Confused by the great reviews! Extremely disappointed!. We went to Smokie's, confident we were in for a treat due to all the great reviews and high ratings. The smell when you drive up is mouth watering. I ordered the 3 meat dinner (there is no 2 meat option). The smoked sausage had an odd flavor. The chicken is sliced paper thin and resembles deli meat. The brisket has a good flavor, but is sliced the same way. I did not like the cole slaw at all. The potato salad was ok. The "Texas toast" was fine, but was definitely not Texas toast. (Like the meat, it was thin.) I sampled some of my friend's dishes. The bologna was pretty good. The onion rings and okra were good. We enjoyed the barbecue sauces. The prices are on the high side. Not unreasonable, but for us, we will NOT return. Sorry. I wanted to like it. :(
JW
Very good BBQ! Everything we has was great. Worth the drive. We will be back!
Gr8shot49
LOVE this place!. Being from Nebraska, we don't have much for good BBQ, especially in my area. I get to travel with some co-workers to Tulsa once in a while for business. The first time here we tried Smokie's based on other good reviews. So far EVERY time we've been to Tulsa we've eaten here, and have NEVER left anything but amazed at how good it has been. The smoked sausage and smoked hot-links are near orgasmic. Not greasy, and the flavor builds as you chew. Truly amazing.

If this place was in my neighborhood, I'd probably eat here a couple times a week. SO good! I can't wait to come back to Tulsa and eat here again.

Yum. It is the best barbecue in this area by far ,
Greg
Good BBQ. Went to Smokie's for the first time on a Friday night. Little bit of a wait but not unexpected. Ordered the three meat combo since they don't offer a two meat plate (strange). First the prices have increased so I will post an updated menu. On the three meat dinner ordered the ribs, sliced brisket and sausage. For sides ordered potato salad and baked beans. Everything was very good except the ribs. they were a little tough. Sauces were good and surprisingly the food temp was very hot. Would recommend this place if you happen to be out that way. Would order a sandwich next time. Looked like they had nice amount of meat for the price.

Smokies BBQ Is Awesome. My son and I had the sliced and chopped brisket BBQ tonight. It was So Good! I really like their award winning sauce the best! But that wasn't enough, we had to try the ribs!!! Needless to say, we are going to get a rack of ribs next!

Very Good Q. Visiting daughter in Broken Arrow and wanted to try one of the local BBQ joints.
Went for lunch ( 4 adults and 2 kids ). We got a variety of items off the menu. All very good. I got the 3 meat combination meal – Sausage, Brisket and Ribs with sides of BBQ Beans and Slaw. Very tasty. Staff were very friendly. If I am every in the area again I will be stopping by again.

Worth The Trip!!!!!. Best Damn Ribs in the area!!! LOVE THIS PLACE! Worth the drive. Ordering takeout from there tonight. Even more impressive they have a gluten free menu and excellent gluten free cake balls for the hubs! Potato salad is delish too!!

Best Ribs in the Tulsa Metro Area! Great Sauce!. The ribs are tender, flavorful and delicious. the price is fair. the waitress is very cute. they have 4 different sauces and they are all terrific. The place is clean (even the bathrooms). They have $1.50 beers on Saturday and a big screen to watch the game on. they have a complimentary pickle bar, and their homemade pickles are out of this world. Very nice, easy-going atmosphere. ....what's not to like? I will be back.
Colin
$85 for 2 adults & 2 kids is a bit outrageous. This is not an "elbows off the table" establishment.
The BBQ was good, but no brisket should be shaved if it's good, but it was thinly shaved, and that's annoying to brisket lovers.
Richard Ray
One of the best in town. Ate dinner here and ordered the ribs. EXCELLENT! The spicy coleslaw was delicious! Good service, reasonable prices, and friendly Oklahoma atmosphere. We will be back!
Chris
Ive been here 4-5 times. Very comfortable, down-to-earth atmosphere. Plenty of customers, but never had to wait for a table. Not fancy service. But the waitresses are friendly and reliable. They give you a lot of meat for the money, and it is excellent bbq! If you want really good bbq with a really friendly atmosphere, youve gotta drive out to Smokie's on east Kenosha.

#1 in my book!!!!. I am here from North East Texas visiting my son at Broken Arrow. We were out and about today. We were deciding what and where to eat dinner. We checked the Urban Spoon for the best place to eat barbeque. Urban Spoon rated Smokie's BBQ the best. So neither one of us have been here before,we decided to give it a try. The BEST BBQ I have had in I can't remember when. The decor is like a blast from the past. There was a gentleman there drawing a mural on the wall that was an old store front on a main street. He was so passionate about his work. I was in awe of creativity. The service was excellent. The amount of food was more than I could eat. I highly recommend this place for everyone who wants GREAT BBQ. Great Job Smokie's BBQ. Two Thumbs Up!!!!!!

Good Cue. My friend and I each had the 3 meat combo for our first trip here. Have to say that all had good smoke and flavor. The ribs which are pork are some of the best I've had in a long time in this area. The brisket and chicken were also very good but they sliced it real thin whereas I'd like it a little thicker. Coleslaw and potato salad were the sides we each chose, slaw was very good and the potato salad was okay. Good service.
Saari2077
World,s picikest. I find fault in 98% of the bbq joints i eat @!!!! found none here!! you have to take home 5 pounds of their bacon!!!!!!!!!!!! it is the thing since i poped my cheery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your Mom
Pleasant surprise. All the meat was delicious (chopped brisket, hot links) but the smoked chicken was outstanding and by far the best. Sides were decent but not spectacular. Atomic slaw wasn't for me. I like spicy, but the flavors didn't mesh for me. However my husband ate his and mine so apparently he liked it. Good onion rings appetizer. Good and local...I'll be back

Fantastic BBQ and very friendly staff!! This is a new favorite! Shaved pork sandwich is delicious!

Great Food Great Price. My husband and I stopped by for lunch and we were immediately seated. It's smaller then it looks, but people were filling up the patio and it was hot outside, which said a lot. We ordered our food and it was excellent! I'm not a huge fan of BBQ anything, but was more then impressed with the pulled pork burger with onion rings! The best part? It was only $15 for both of us to eat!!! We will definitely be coming back here!

Looks like a dive, but don't all the really good 'ole barbecue restaurants look like that?
went there on a hot hot September Saturday evening about 6 p.m. were a couple of families there already. this place is pretty small seats probably 40 - 50 or so. was greeted promptly by a friendly waitress named Melissa. we had read a lot of reviews about how great the ribs were so we tried those plus the sliced pork and the chopped brisket, along with french fries, potato salad & coleslaw. everything we had was excellent. The coleslaw has a hot pepper kick that my husband liked very much. Sauces were good to go with the meats but you really didn't need them on the ribs ! I felt like their prices were good and you got a lot to eat and had plenty left over to take home. Phone rang off the hook for carry out orders a whole time we were there so that says a lot in my book.try this place I don't believe you will be the least bit disappointed-- it was really really good.

Really Good BBQ. Enjoyed lunch at Smokie's today with my gal. I had the 1/2 rack plate with beans and fries, she had the 3-meat combo (ribs, beef, chicken) with beans and potato salad. The meats were as good as any in the Tulsa area. The ribs were very meaty, quite tasty and tender. We enjoyed the ribs just as they were with the dry rub. We tried just a little of the "championship" sauce on the beef. It added a nice flavor to the beef which was sliced a little thin, but still very good. The beans were very good, but the fries and potato salad were just average. We also had a side order of onion rings, which were good. The sweetened raspberry tea complimented the meals very well. Highly recommend the ribs!

Real BBQ. Fantastic BBQ! Ribs are very moist and with the smoke and spice rub do not really need any sauce. Great service.

Other BBQ restaurants in Broken Arrow ( I will not name them but one meal at Smokie's and you will never, ever consider Oklahoma Joe's as anything but dried out meat) can not come close.

Smokie's now needs to go to the next level. Stop using prepared fries and onion rings! It degrades the meal. Learn how to profitably make them from scratch.
A place worth eating at over and over again!

Wonderful amazing bar b q. (French fries r delicious)

A must stop for BBQ fans. I have spent most of this year traveling all over the south of our great country and probably eaten a ton of BBQ from NC to GA, AL, MS, TN,KY, TX and now OK. So for you BBQ fans!!!! This is a must stop. The RIBS are smoked perfectly and there is no need to even look at a sauce, the dry rub is just they way they should be eaten. The baked beans are full of flavor, with a touch of sweet onion. I would stop by again even if i have to fly down to OK for some of Smokie's BBQ.
Scooter
The best BBQ in the Tulsa area !
Kcisme1523
Good food other than they ran out of ribs. Small place, would not recommend large groups. It was somewhat of a cluster trying to get a table. I would recommend this place and will go back again....hopefully to try the ribs if they don't run out.
KungPow
Nice alternative the usual BBQ fare... This place is the real deal for the atmosphere of a BBQ joint, located in far East Broken Arrow. This was the first time we dined in to try something different. ALL the staff are friendly and really make you feel like you're at their home. The wife and I settled in and ordered the 3 meat special, comes with "our" choice of 3 meats and two sides. I went with sliced brisket (really delicious) it was sliced as thin as you would expect at Arby's sandwich for example, and I've never tried brisket sliced this thin. I thought it was really GREAT and would order that again. We also had ribs and hot links. Ribs were drier than I like. The hot links are spicy, hot and I thought tasted awesome. Potato salad and the beans we're fit for the meal. Overall, it was a very good pleasurable experience in which we look forward to returning and dining with Smokie's family again.
Billy Whala
The "Texas" toast was just regular toast. They had run out of ribs, because they gave the last half-rack to a to-go order placed after I ordered my dinner, so I was forced to change my order. The Sa-Mokin sauce had more sugar in it than the sweet tea did. The sliced brisket was sliced much too thin, and didn't even taste like brisket. Very disappointed because I had heard rave reviews.
Ron
Must try. I'm absolutely spoiled to Smokie's. I've been eating at this fantastic BBQ restaurant since the day they opened, and I have to say that I haven't found any place that can beat it. Great food, great people and a great location.

Regional smoked meats destination. Went in 1st week of June 2013 and this was our best meal out of several famous places in OK/KS. Smokiest meat, loved the beans. We enjoyed some great food Ok Joes (rec'd by Zagat, Trip Advisor, Bourdain), Cattlemens (1000 Places Before You Die), Earls (Ok Gazette), and Arthur Bryant's. Urbanspoon has been second to none for scouting good restaurants, but now this user community is surpassing valued experts at Frommers, Iexplore, Ok Gazette, Virtual Tourist, Zagat, and Bourdain. Proud Urbanspoon moment advising us of this 96%+ rating and leading us to Smokie's, making the best recommendation of our trip. Parked by the smoker, the car smelled good for days, even the pillow had a sweet smoke smell - loved it. Only warning - bring exact change for unmanned toll roads especially if taking the older highway going towards Bentonville.

A hidden gem in East Broken Arrow! The ribs were tender yet firm enough to stay on the bone. The mound of sliced brisket was sliced paper thin and had plenty of moisture and beefy smokey flavor. The beans were laden with meat and slow cooked with onion and spices. Maybe the best I have ever had. Excellent, friendly service, try Smokies!!
Amanda Goumaz-Blevins
Fun atmosphere, great staff, incredible food! For the spice lover you have to try the atomic slaw.
WilburG
Amazing BBQ!! Some the best tasting ribs, pork, links, and brisket I've ever had!!
Rhonda Jo Jacobs-Ayres
Yummy!. I used to think a particular bar-be-que restaurant in town was the bomb for years, but now since i have discovered Smokies, we travel a long way to get there. And its well worth it!!
Reggie
Smokie's BBQ in Broken Arrow. Good Ole Fashion Oklahoma SMOKED BBQ!!! You can taste the smoke in every meat! The ribs fall of the bone. The sausage is warm and spicy. The chopped beef felt as if it were melting in my mouth. I am very picky about my coleslaw. It was a perfect mixture of milky & vinegar.... better that KFC's slaw. I'll definitely go back!

Best Bar-B-Q in Tuksa Bar none.

Great Traditional BBQ. My wife MaryAnn and I had a wonderful BBQ experience, last night, with our friends Larry Gober and Joel Evans. We are all certified judges for the Kansas City BBQ Society, and some of us are Master Judges. The aroma of smoking meats, gave us a hint of what was to come. As a friendly group, we share our dinner choices, and discuss what we taste. We started with the Fried Pickles, that were light, and flavorful. I loved the Chipotle/Ranch dip. As a group, we ordered items, that with their sides, would give us a lot to sample. We chose the " Razorback"Sandwich with sliced pork and bacon, The Smoked Chicken Plate, The Smoked Pork Sandwich, The Chopped Brisket Sandwich, and Smoked Spare Ribs. With these choices, we were able to pick sides of, fried okra, potato salad, cole slaw, bbq beans, and the "Atomic Slaw", a spicey version. All the meats selected were smoked to perfection, with balanced and light seasoning, that let the true flavor of the meats come through. We are a group that believe the meats, and how they are prepared, are the focal point of BBQ. Sauces should only compliment. We found this last night at Smokies.

The meats sampled were superb. The ribs were done perfectly, the chicken, pork, and chopped brisket were moist and tender. All the sides were large and very good. For the brave, try the Atomic Slaw. Several BBQ Sauces are available, and our group preferred "SaMokin", made by Patrick Elliott of Tulsa.

Smokies is a great family place, where the food is great, the service is friendly and prompt, and the items are served hot. Put Smokies on your list of places to try, we think you will enjoy the experience. Bob Hastings, KCBS Master Judge #5886, Broken Arrow, OK.

Yum!!!. We are from Oregon and were in OK visiting family. We found the reviews and had to try it! This place is amazing. We loved everything we tried(which was almost everything on the menu). We tasted each others food a loved every bite. Ribs, chicken, brisket and sausage were fabulous. We loved the sides and onion rings too.
Everyone was friendly and helpful. We will be back next visit to Tulsa.

Absolutely the best Bar-B- Que I have even had. Please open one in Georgia!
Rob McCurry
Best BBQ I've Had!. I live in Atlanta, GA - in town for a conference and was looking for the best BBQ place in Tulsa...and I think I found it!
After checking out other reviews on urbanspoon.com, the reviews for Smokie's BBQ seemed to have the best reviews on the site, and they were right on the money.
I had already checked out the menu online prior to going, and when we got there, our waitress recommended exactly what I had already picked out...the Triple Combo. I had the sliced pork, ribs, and the chopped beef brisket, along with fries and the "Atomic" coleslaw.
The sliced pork was melt in your mouth tender...probably the best pork I have ever eaten anywhere.
The chopped brisket was great also. The owner also brought out a sample of the sliced beef for us to try - It was awesome! I think I prefer the sliced beef over the chopped...the sliced beef had a little more of the fat on the edges for more flavor, but I wouldn't turn away either one..haha!
I usually don't eat ribs, but I gave these a try...they were very tender and delicious. You didn't have to fight to get the meat off of the bone like you do at most places. Very good flavor also.
The Atomic coleslaw was the best I have ever eaten also...a mix of 5-6 different peppers to give it a nice kick, but not so spicy you couldn't eat it...just right. The fries were very good also...I know everyone has fries, but a lot of times places don't pay attention to them. These were cooked just right.
The place has a very cool decor and great smell...a must for any BBQ restaurant!
The owner came out and talked to us for a while, explained the different sauces and was extremely friendly...as was our waitress. It was a great dining experience!
I would definitely recommend Smokie's BBQ to anyone in Tulsa looking for some great tasting food and a great atmosphere! Hope to be back before I leave town!
Travis
Delicious!. Had the ribs and it was delicious! I like the small town atmosphere, friendly folks and unique smoked flavor with several bbq sauce options. Will definitely come back!

Amazing BBQ!. I am going to take you on a trip today...a trip to flavor town! Today I experienced the BEST BBQ ribs that I have ever had at a small place in Broken Arrow called Smokie's. Smokie's is located off of Kenosha after you pass the Creek Turnpike as you head E out of Broken Arrow.

When you first get to Smokie's you immediately notice that this place is NO JOKE when it comes to smoking meat, because not only do you smell the amazing aroma of meat smoking in Hickory, you also see the smoke and grease buildup on the chimney over the small building. The interior is homey and rustic and simple, but the FOOD, well it tells the rest of the story!

I ordered the Bad Back Rib Dinner, a Half a Rack of Ribs Dinner at $12.99 that comes with 2 sides, so I ordered a side of bbq beans and fried okra, and let me tell you, it was well worth it!

When I received my plate of heaven, I immediately noticed the beautiful smoke ring around each rib. This ring is what you want to see to ensure that your meat was smoked perfectly. The second thing that I noticed was the beautiful bark on the ribs, another good sign of great BBQ. However, the experience in flavor town began as I took my first bite into the dry rubbed goodness of that bbq rib. I was hit with a moist and succulent bite that was just PERFECT! The flavor of hickory and other spices took me to flavor town. The meat literally FELL OFF THE BONE and the flavor profile was so on point that I didn't even need to add any BBQ sauce to it! Now on a side note, the sauces that they hosted were all award winning sauces from sweet to hot, and complimented the ribs well.

Not only were the Ribs great the sides were very tasty as well. The bbq beans were very tender and had a nice sweetness to them, and the fried okra was fresh and popped in your mouth as if the okra exploded with great flavor.

Bottom line if you have not eaten here...you have not eaten GREAT BBQ!
Jake
Wow, just wow! Best BBQ!. All I have to say is... Atomic Slaw! It is a unique spin on coleslaw that has a "hell" of a kick. Has a nice bite to it with the jalapeños and habaneros mixed in. The ribs are very tender and fall off the bone. The chicken and brisket are nothing to miss either. Great little place, not to far off the beatin path, with great atmosphere and a friendly staff (Shout out to Robin, Melissa and Aaron). Highly recommended!

Absolutely delicious every time! Best ribs I've ever had!

Best BBQ in Oklahoma. The wife and I returned the other day, to once again, taste the wonderfulness that is Smokies. If it is possible, the food was even better, than our last visit. And once again, we were warmly greeted by Robin. She personally seated us, and is a very warm and friendly hostess. I had the half-rack of ribs, with BBQ beans and fries. The ribs were drop-dead perfect. Not over-cooked, and seasoned to perfection. I didn't even need the sauce! Everything is served on paper plates, further evidence that what they concentrate on here, is the food. I like it that they have a roll of paper towels on each table. No need to ask for additional napkins. I know that may be a small thing, but it's the small things that make up my mind, when it comes to good service. The wait staff kept my iced tea full, but did not "hover". I'm not sure what Mark does to the ribs,(he won't share the recipe, LOL) but I hope he keeps on cooking 'em just the way they are!. Robin and Mark, you have a good thing going, here. Please don't change anything you are doing. I would, without question, recommend this restarant to anyone looking for good food, good atmosphere, and an excellent eating experience.

-----09 Dec, 2012-----

Best I've had in a long time!. The wife and I have heard about this place for some time. Decided to drop by. VERY glad we did. Robin, (one of the owners) greeted us personally, and took time to seat us. We started with the Onion rings, and Fried Pickles. The orders are HUGE! The appetizers are almost a meal by themselves. We found both to be excellent. I ordered the Combo, which includes 3 meats and your choice of sides. I chose the Ribs, Sliced brisket, and chopped Pork. My side items were Baked Beans and fries. I've eaten a lot of ribs in my time....I've gotta say that this is one of the best places I've been to in recent memory. The food is served on paper plates....no frills, here....just plain good food. The wait staff was attentive, without "hovering", and kept our iced tea glasses full. Robin also took time to chat with us, and was very friendly in sort of a "down home" way. The other owner, Mark, also came out, and greeted us, and gave me the "grand tour" of the place. If you are looking for just plain good food, I would strongly advise a visit to this restarant.

Smokie's is the best place in BA, possibly anywhere, for BBQ. The portions are huge, food is EXCELLENT, and it's local.

That said, just want to inform the newcomers, this isn't a fancy restaurant. It's pretty small, no menus (printed on huge chalkboards at the front), and served on styrofoam plates. I promise you this: it's all worth it.

Personally, I think the setting is perfect. It focuses on the food, which I promise will have you returning a second time.

Keep in mind this is a small, new, local restaurant, and you'll be able to enjoy the best BBQ around.

Best bbq ever.. My family and I ate at smokies last week.We tried everything, and if god serves bbq in heaven im sure he will get it from smokies.I am a proffessional carnivore and was in awe by the flavor, tenderness, quality and love put into the food. The atmosphere itself is worth the visit.Nothing but happy people work there and they made us feel right at home.

Great BBQ. I've tried their ribs, brisket, pork, chicken, and hot links.

Ribs are very good. Right amount of smoke flavor. Also, they're not overcooked. With ribs, the meat should never "fall off the bone" as that means it's overcooked. Instead, the meat should cling to the bone, but pull cleanly away from the bone when you bite it. This is precisely how their ribs are.

Brisket is very juicy and flavorful and sliced almost deli thin. The thin slicing makes it excellent for sandwiches, but I'd prefer a thicker slice for eating it by itself. Chopped brisket is also available.

Pork is like the brisket. It's thinly sliced too. Most people are probably used to pulled pork in BBQ restaurants. This is sliced pork. It's still good. Tasty.

Chicken is very moist. That's a pretty hard accomplishment in the BBQ world as BBQers frequently serve dry chicken. This was very moist and flavorful. No need to douse it in BBQ sauce to give it enough moisture to eat.

Hot links are very tasty. Though, I'm not quite the hot link aficionado that some of my friends are. Just give me a hot link with the right amount of heat and some good spicy BBQ sauce to dip it in and I'm happy.

For people who obsess over such things, ALL of their meat had the tell-tale pink smoke ring.

They don't have their own barbecue sauce. Instead they have a selection of local off-the-shelf favorites. I recommend the Head Country Hot BBQ sauce, but I wish they also had Selmon Brothers BBQ Sauces (also an Oklahoma product).

Fried Okra, onion rings and beans are all very excellent. Though, if I recall, they purchase their okra, onion rings, and fries frozen, so their great onion rings and okra are more a testament to their choosing a good supplier. That sounds silly, but considering how many terrible onion rings there are out there they deserve credit for picking some good ones.

I would love to see them add homemade potato chips as a side. But then, I'm a homemade potato chip junkie.

I don't eat coleslaw or potato salad, so I cannot comment on how good theirs is.

Service is very friendly and attentive. I don't think I made eye contact with a single waitress where I didn't receive a smile. Genuinely friendly staff, so tip well!

Restaurant is clean and well-maintained. Nice cozy atmosphere.

Great food. Got their sliced pork and chopped brisket. They were both great, the brisket had an awesome smoke ring around it, service was quick, waitress was good and the prices a pretty low (2 meat + 2 ribs + 2 sides for $13 Which was enough to split with my girlfriend). While both meats and ribs were good enough to eat without sauce, their BBQ sauces are great too!

Good BBQ. Get there early if you want ribs, or onion rings, or fried pickles......we got there around 6 this evening and all of those choices were gone except 4 ribs left.... Had the pork dinner and bologna dinner....both were great. Good beans, slaw and potato salad. Friends got the remaining ribs and shared. Excellent!! There was also a live band and it was good music. Sauces are all made in Oklahoma - the Ranger Creek sauce was my favorite. We will return to try what we didn't get to try!

I logged on to Urbanspoon to write a good review for Smokies (more on this in a minute). I took a minute to read through the other reviews and read the latest review by Fransico (or close to this name). This review bothered me bc A. Smokies is not hard to find at all. It's a straight shot down Kenosha.
B. There are only about 3 users who have logged on to Urbanspoon only to "like" or "dislike" Smokies and
C. Smokies portion size was huge!!! My husband ordered the Combo and he couldn't finish it all. My chopped beef sandwich had meat spilling out of it.
Now regardless if you like the food or not those 3 things I find to be facts. I find it terribly rude for someone to write a nonfactul review on a new, small restuarnt that happens to be, in my opinion, WONDERFUL. Keep up the good work Smokies!

Mediocre BBQ not what I expected. So I saw this on urbanspoon thinking it was going to be great. I was wrong. After getting lost for a while and finally stumbling upon this joint, I was excited when I saw the looks of this place. It looks rustic and authentic as it is made to look like a cabin. After ordering my chopped brisket with onion rings and bbq beans, I was let down big time. Although the brisket was not bad, it was not good either. It sort of tasted mainstream like any chain bbq place. The portion was also very small I felt like I was at a 5 dollar a plate bbq fundraiser. My onion rings were litterally dripping with oil on every bite. I understand that they serve this on a paperplate in order to appear more authentic but I thought this to be a gross gesture. Lower the price if you are serving on paper then the gesture will appear authentic. I took a visit to this restaurant after I saw the great reviews. Now I am seeing most of these reviews are suspicious as they are written by people with this being their only review. Anyways, I will not be back. There are better bbq places in our area such as Wilson's in Tulsa or my favourite Fish's in Tahlequah.

WOW! What a great place for great bbq! Smokies has great atmosphere, just what you would want and/or expect in one of those neat, out-of-the-way destination places with, of course, great bbq & all the trimmings! Looking forward to my next outing already!

My wife and I got sliced brisket sandwiches and battered onion rings. The sandwich was awesome, moist, didn't even need sauce. Best onion rings ever had. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend.

We had an awesome meal at Smokies. All the meats were tender & moist. The sides were great. I WILL be back!!

Awesome food. Ribs were some of the best I've had!

Great Q. Some of the best BBQ I've had in a long time and well worth the drive to East BA.

Best BBQ in Tulsa area. We went to Smokie's for the first time last weekend and besides the wait for a table it was PERFECT! We got the brisket, pulled pork and rib dinners with beans and cole slaw and I have to say that it is the best barbeque in the Tulsa area. The brisket was cooked perfectly, the pulled pork was moist and tender and the ribs were to delish and the beans and slaw were both very good! And then to top it off, they even had my favorite Sa-Mokin BBQ sauce on the tables!

I would really like this place to succeed, but they will have to make a few changes first. The BBQ had a chemical flavor too it that was a turn off. I don't know if it was just over smoked or something else. The beans were strange too. Beans with barbecue sauce and raw onion. The partitioned paper plate was a turn off as well. Everyone was very nice accommodating and I will try them again especially because the prices were reasonable. Maybe they need a suggestion box.

It deserves to stay around.... This place has really great BBQ, although it's location seems to be a harbinger for failed businesses. There have been a lot of restaurants come and go where they are, but based on how busy they stay, I hope they'll be around for long time.

The food is definitely well above the fray so far as BBQ goes. The first time we'd tried food from there, my dad had ordered sandwiches and we accidentally got shorted one in our order. When calling, they told us to come back and they'd make a correction. Aside from the great sandwiches, they shined in customer service. Not only did they make us a fresh sandwich, they gave us a hand-written coupon good for any dinner combo (that's $12.95) for FREE.

Based on the superior food and service, my girlfriend and I decided to venture there ourselves. The only thing negative I can say is that since they're a new, locally-owned business and not a mega-chain, they're still ironing out some of the wrinkles. It's worth having some patience when you go, but you'll definitely be rewarded.

Finally GOOD BBQ. We took our weekly date night out and went to Smokies here in our home town of BA. There wasnt many reviews yet and we decided to give it a try. Boy were we thrilled we went. The building and inside were as inviting as could be. The smell outside wasnt just piped in aroma it was the real deal !!!
The service was as nearly outstanding as the food was and the Pork Sandwich, Onion Rings and Cole slaw were fantastic and my husband had the beef one meat dinner- what a treat and what a welcomed surprise to the BA area. Alot of people dont ventture down that end of 71st but let me tell you its just past the Turnpike on the right as you head east and is is WELL worth the drive.

We are going back again next weekend to try another dinner- must have are the Onion rings for a great appetizer. Love Love LOVE this place. !!!!!!!

Championship !!. Had the 3 meat combo with 2 sides...ribs..pork tenderloin and smoked bologna with coleslaw and fries and texas toast for 12.95 !! everything was amazing and the price is more reasonable than oklahoma joes or any other joint thats close....ribs were tender, not alot of meat on them though the real winners were the pork and smoked bologna. Will be coming here all the time !!!

Smokies bbq. We order three meat meals the brisket was slice to thin and tough. The ribs did not have much meat on them and was blah. The cole slaw had a funny flavor we didn't like. We were hoping this place would be great since it was so close to us. We will not be coming back here.

Wonderful atmosphere and delicious BBQ. The Saturday night chicken melts in your mouth and has a perfect smokey flavor. The coleslaw was perfect and the beans were great with pieces of smokey briscuit in them. My kids loved the smoked bologna and golden French fries. A+

Great BBQ! Cozy atmosphere and Stevie Ray Vaughn for background music. What a great place! My husband says its the best BBQ he's ever had.

Some pretty stinkin good BBQ. When we first moved to the BA we drove by this cozy little building and thought this would be a great place for a BBQ restaurant. Lo and behold Smokies appears one year later. We decided to try it on our anniversary and we were not disappointed. The flavor was excellent. meat was tender and moist the way BBQ should be be. Onion rings were probably the best we have ever had. Ribs were out of this world. Menu selection is kinda small but give them time to figure out what the masses want and I'm sure the options will grow. I highly recommend the cozy little BBQ joint!!!!

I got the two ribs, two meat (sliced brisket, slicked pork), two sides (pot salad and baked beans) and two slices of Texas toast for 12.95. In my opinion it was a great deal. I wanted to get cole slaw but they were sold out of that. Since this is a new business I understand. The ribs were AWESOME!!!! The pork was great! And the sliced beef was better than good but not great. The baked beans were really good. I usually don't like baked beans but these had a thick sauce and pulled meat added to them. The potatoe salad was your every day run of the mill salad. They had really good local sauce. The service was good and I will def be going back! Keep up the good work!!!!

Great BBQ. Wife and I ate their yesterday and sampled almost everything. Great Pork Ribs and meat was so tender and Juicy it just pulled off the bone. Brisket and Pork was very good Quality as was the Onion Rings. We also loved the Pork Sausage. Head Country Sauce and some mixtures from it were very good. Very reasonably Priced and can't wait to take friends and family back for more. A Must Try! ET from Broken Arrow.

Just in case you’re wondering… We loved Smokie’s BBQ Broken Arrow. It doesn’t look like they’re hurting for business, but a little more wouldn’t hurt. Give them a try. You won’t regret it.

Smokies’ ribs are melt-in-your-mouth tender and full of tantalizing smoky flavor, but without excessive fat and grease. Both the pork and the brisket were also flavorful, moist and tender. The sides were tasty too. Several Oklahoma-crafted BBQ sauces (including some new ones for us) are available at each table and don’t forget to visit their self-serve pickle, onion and pepper bar.

This is PART ONE of a two part blog on Smokies. Smokies old fashioned hickory smoked BBQ is serious GREAT eats. It's out there in Broken Arrow, but oh, so worth the drive. Thanks to Aaron for making our experience such a great one. It's easy to find...and not just visually...but aromatically as well. I mean, I literally could smell the delicious savory meats being smoked as I was getting near and then bam, there it was! So we're greeted by the super nice peeps there and then Aaron came out and said hello. I asked him what I always ask people in restaurants...give me your BEST dish and he accommodated nicely! From the Firecrackers (fried, breaded jalapeno) and fried pickle slices to the juicy, smoked meat...it ALL be good :-) I got to sample the pork, brisket, ribs, sausages and bologna! But wait, THERE'S MORE!!! SO MUCH MORE!! Firecrackers (sliced, breaded and fried jalapenos) Let's start with the flavors of the meats...hickory smoked deliciousness doesn't do it justic

Well, folks, this is my new favorite place. My parents live out past this joint and watched every day for months waiting for it to open.
