I'll admit, I didn't understand the hype when I first tried Portillo's the other day. I went back for round two, with some food modification suggestions from friends and I am a FAN. Getting the Italian beef dipped, with cheese and peppers was key. Hot dog was ordered loaded and I'm now in love with the cake shake and will likely gain 5lbs. just thinking about it. Awesome lunch!

Very good Chicago dogs served here. I look forward to these every time I come to town. Classic Chicago dog is my go to and the fries are good too.
They have a good system to get the food out fast and the restaurant is always clean.
I revisited and was surprised when I finally got my hotdog unwrapped. The pickle was changed and it was horribly soggy. I ordered three and only ate half of one. Obviously, a supply issue forced them to use different pickles and it doesn’t taste the same . I wouldn’t order these again until the pickles return. Onion rings are good and crunchy.

We enjoyed an Italian beef, Chicago dogs and a chocolate cake shake! Also the fries are pretty decent.
One downside, an employee left the bathroom without walking his hands…thankfully he wasn’t anywhere close to our food. But it does make you wonder whether they take food safety seriously.

I love portillo's food and I love some of their restaurants. Others are just horrible at customer service. This particular one is usually pretty good until my experience picking up an order made on the app. The food was ready on time and it was fresh. Per usual. The drink was not there so I had to ask and when she returned with the drink she went on her way to point out the label on it that said large Coke. When I got about a mile down the road I realize it was definitely a diet Coke. I had an over an hour drive home so I decided to turn around and get the right drink. When I went to the counter, the young lady was extremely courteous and helpful, but I noticed that when she tried to fill up a new Coke the dispenser was out of the beverage. It was quite obvious from the look on her face that she knew what had happened and why I got the wrong drink. Just like I knew the other person was just too lazy to deal with it. She looked to the ground and said I'll be right back and went to a different drink dispenser and another part of the kitchen and returned with my coke. Clearly this was intentionally done out of laziness by the first person filling my order. I always go back and fix ratings and erase reviews like this if my next few visits are good. So I hope that's the case.

Our first experience here. Very groovy place to eat and listen to the old time music! Great vibe and decor! Looks like Mike and Frank of American Pickers designed the place. Old oil cans on the shelves, gas station pump globes, old signs of the 50's and 60's adorn the wall as well. Not to mention a lot of neon signs!
As neat as the decor was, the floors and tables could definitely of been tended to better. My family and I had to choose the third booth we looked at because of table tops and seats being dirty from previous customers. Also saw fellow customers after me doing the same thing.
Now on to the food. Both the wife and myself ordered the Chicago style dog, my son had the bacon burger and my daughter had the Caesar salad. The dogs were good, smokey hint to them, the vegetables were all good as well. My son approved the bacon burger with two thumbs up and my daughter said the Caesar salad was nothing special but nonetheless good. We also ordered onion rings and crinkle cut cheese fries, vanilla and chocolate shakes. All the extras were very good especially the onion rings which were either in the fryer too long or that is how they are, very crispy, which is how I prefer them. The chocolate shake was very thick and excellent.
We will definitely be back!

We stopped because the restaurant we wanted to go to was closed. It took a long time to actually get our food after we ordered so next time I would definitely order ahead. I ordered a Italian beef sandwich and it was delicious. My son ordered a chocolate cake shake to share, that was very sweet but it's was fun to try. I would recommend stopping by.

This was my first time having Portillos and I give it two thumbs up. The all beef hotdog was delicious felt like I was in Chicago and the fries made me happy.

I went on a whim. After visiting "Floor and Decor" (I didn't find what I was looking for), I asked Google to "navigate hot dog". I got a hot dog, because that's the trademark item at Portillo's, as well as a hamburger. I looked around, and everybody seemed to have been there and eager to eat the food they ordered. My number was 340. The numbers, as stated on signs, were not called in exact order. I got my meal and the hot dog. I tried the hotdog first to ensure I had the appetite to properly rate it. It was LOADED. And everything was perfectly proportioned. I was hoping the meat would be the flavor of this salty-sweet super flavorful hot dog I got at a New York stand, but the meat was the same old American hot dog; kind of bland on its own, but the toppings were absolute fire! The hamburger was basic. Akin to burger king's whopper, but way better. I spent about $12 on these two items plus a small coca-cola (which is more like a medium, in actuality). Overall this is a great place, with great vibes. I highly recommend going here.

I’m from the Chicago suburbs and I shutter at the reputation you are giving my favorite home town restaurant. Although my orders have always been correct and good, the service is awful. Half the point of portillos is knowing that even though the line is 15 cars deep I will have food in less than 10 minutes. School field trips were the best because four bus loads of students could be fed lunch in record time!
Your workers are slow, lazy, unenthusiastic and honestly, rude. I waited 7 minutes for a beef sandwich when I was the only person there. Embarrassing. Get it together guys.

Some time has passed since our initial visit to this Portillo's location, that first experience resulting in disappointment that we chalked up to the location's "newness". With that in mind we stopped again yesterday, to allow this Portillo's a second chance. Unfortunately, its performance has fallen even further. Time has not helped.
The staff we encountered were just plain rude. Cold. Not one "Thank You" from any Portillo's worker. We felt very much unwelcome.
Our food arrived on the counter after a wait of at least ten minutes, but a worker allowed it to sit as she attended to another guest and his incorrect order. After a pause she returned, mumbled our Order Number and walked away.
While we waited, my wife observed another worker, wearing a reflective vest, place food into paper bags for the Drive-Thru customers. The Portillo's worker in the reflective vest removed some of that food from the bags and ate it
There was no Manager in sight.
The Beef and Cheddar Croissant I ordered was a soggy, broken and tasteless mess. It had no Cheddar. The beef was stringy, tasteless. The Italian Beef my wife ordered was only marginally better. Neither sandwich had much beef. With cheese fries and soft drinks our order totalled more than $24, a ridiculous sum given the worse-than-poor service, unacceptable food condition and small portions.
This location does tremendous disservice to the good name of Portillo's. It is NOTHING like those Portillo's we thoroughly enjoy in Illinois and have enjoyed for decades.

Some of the worst food I've had. Chocolate shake had no chocolate flavor. The burger, while it was juicy looked looked like one of the frozen ones at the grocery store. The Italian beef that BF had he said it was nothing special & bun was too mushy. Chocolate cake was tasty, but the frosting--I swear its the Pilsbury frosting--which in my opinion is beyond gross. Not worth the drive. Go to Culvers instead.

Found the Italian beef sandwich with sweet peppers to be average.
The peppers were the best part of the meal.
With all the hype about Portillo’s was expecting more doesn’t come close to Mr. Beef’s in Chicago!

Portillos is a great restaurant i like the fact they employ inner city young people to give them a chance at employment. I used to have to drive to Chicago to get Portillos 5 times a year. Now I drive 25 minutes. Great food.

I had the Chicago Dog... which wS lukewarm at best and onion rings that were way over fried... I've had a better Chicago dog at Benji's and Dr. Dawg... will try it again and try the Italian beef....

Took way to long to get s hot dog and fries, 20 minutes. The buns looked like someone man handled them. The flavor of the hotdog was good. The fries were goo too. Food was hot. A little expensive.

I nirmally love Pirtillos. Have been going to the Park Ridge location ever since it opened sunce my mother lives there. I live close to the Brookfield location and I am becoming more and more unsatisfied each time. The wait for fast food can be 20 min for a chicken sandwich and fries. I order the broiled chicken croissant and more than half the time it comes on a bun so I have to take it back up and wait some more. The amount of salt they put on the fries is disgusting. I have to now order with no salt instead of brushing the salt off of each fry. And last night I ordered a large waywr and received a Sprite. They got 1/3 of my irder correct.

The beef was historically light on meat. Never had a portillos beef that was this disappointing. Food was good, but not the portions I've been accustomed to over the past years. 6 bucks for what I'd guess was 3 ounces of beef. Not impressed.

First time trying the Italian beef and I didn't like it and it didn't have anything to do with how they made it. The beef hot dog was excellent.... I will be back in the future!

I thought it sucked. Sport peppers were small and mushy onions cut into big chunks instead of diced like they're supposed to the pickle was not very good and the tomatoes were sliced so thin I wasn't sure they had two sides. Warren Buffett bought this place and the quality has already gone down. Too bad cuz I've been a fan of Portillo's for years
