If you love lox ... You will really lol this place. Small seating area. We were 4 and stopped in while picking up son.
We sat at the two tall bar tables by the window front. We had a great time. Peter, the owner is really nice. Take-out mostly. Different kinds of
Lox , so many amazing sandwich combos that I suggest checking out the menu online before going.
I just had the pastrami salmon with horseradish sauce sandwich and it was fantastic. This shop is truly neighborhood gem, so glad we have a place like this nearby.

Shelsky’s sturgeon puts Barney Greengass’s to shame! Also best rugelach and halava in NYC!!
An instant classic! The tuna! The salmon bacon! Could stay there all day!
The best place to get the freshest fish. For sure, fresh haring.
Lobster roll’s a great value! Also, don’t miss their pickles.
The store is a glorious Brooklyn treasure - I go in and want to buy everything! The smoked fish is incredible and the rugelach spactacular. Stop reading this and just go.
So if you're looking for ah-mazing smoked salmon and other delicious treats, this is the place! I will definitely be back next time I'm in town!!
The best bagel I've ever had and an excellent service. Try the Great Gatsby!
Peter the owner is so great and has made the new space on Court Street right off of Atlantic Ave a great spot. Awesome quality food! Mazel : )))
Good thing we don’t have Shelsky’s in San Diego! I’d be broke!
Where have these guys been all my life? No need to to go to the Lower East Side anymore for some serious appetizing. I got the Brooklyn Transplant sandwich via Seamless and it was delivered in 11 MINUTES. Food is delicious... can't wait to try the chicken liver.
Just bit in to The Gatsby sandwich: these people are artists.
Does love come on a bagel? It does at Shelsky's!

Breakfast was a hit, didn't buy enough food.
Mind bending. Try the Gatsby.
Great bagel place in Brooklyn! They have a full deli. There are many bagel options with various cream cheese options. They are also a selection of chips, pickles, jams, sweets and more to shop from. The staff is friendly. Will definitely be returning!
Bagel here is so fresh! One of the best in Brooklyn. I also got the halva from here and it’s fantastic. Coffee is also good. I visited when its raining so only one table provided to eat inside.
Best lox bagels in nyc. Fancy Pants and Peter Shelsky's were both amazing. Service is smooth and friendly.
I ordered two bagels with salmon from there. Food was super good and the service was really pleasant. I was with my dog and i was looking for my food on the pick up tray. An employee saw me looking and asked for my name. I didn't have to go inside (I couldn't bring my dog in) and he brought the food out to me. That was super nice of them and as always the food was bomb. They have the best bagels and the salmon is always top notch. Plus I love pickled tomatoes.
Great quality food, but $12 for dark rye bread is too much (the bread was amazing). You can find red caviar, smoked sturgeon, liver pate, tofu cream cheese and other delicacies here on top of usually expected bagels and cured salmon.
The shopping system is confusing, you have to take a ticket for some reason.
Wow, the pastrami sandwich not cheap but was so delicious and worth every dime. It was as juicy as it was a bbq briskets.
Their salmon lox/ smoked salmon looked very good as well. Hope to fry that next time!
Lox bagel was delicious - bagel was perfectly toasted, good balance of cream cheese. The latkes were good size but pretty greasy and soggy.
Best bagel in New York, hands down.
As a southern guy who works in Brooklyn throughout the year, fish for breakfast was not something I thought I'd be into. The 'Member of the Tribe' bagel was absolutely delicious. And even though I'm from the south, I do not care for sweet tea. The Subtle Tea they sold there was perfect.
Don't sleep on Shelky's 🥯🐟 The best of Brooklyn and top 5 in NYC.
I figured I'd take gamble and got the Brooklyn Native thinking it sounded interesting but maybe a bit too overwhelming with so many different kinds of fish. But I really enjoyed it, everything came together really well!
I also got some house picked herring on the side with picked onions and cream. I was brought right back to my childhood.
Not to mention the decor and vibe of the place is a wonderful and charming homage to the Jewish culture.
I stopped by Shelsky’s one Sunday morning for a bagel, and was blown away. I got one of, if not the best, lox bagels I’ve had in the city. The servers were also very friendly and it felt like a proper neighborhood joint with very friendly people.
I ordered a Peter Shelsky bagel with tofu cream cheese and it was so, so good!!! It was sour, sweet and rich! Highly recommended!
If you like a chewy - I mean CHEWY bagel, this is your place. The first bagel I had was “stick to the roof of your mouth” chewy. Didn’t seem right. Almost as if the bagel wasn’t allowed to rest after baking. That bagel had salmon cream cheese, which was only ok. The salmon flavor didn’t really come through. Second experience, bagel was still chewy, but not as much. Crunchy exterior and lots of seeds, which I appreciate. This bagel had the white fish salad, that was a hit. Not too salty like others usually are. Trying the pastrami next. Coffee is just average.
Ordered smoked salmon, whitefish salad, scallion cream cheese, and vegetable cream cheese. Order was ready to pick up and the person carefully checked to make sure everything I ordered was in the bag. Very much appreciated!
