Great food. My husband loved his beef tartare. The injera here is so good! The vegetable sampler was very good. I was excited to try the mushrooms. Some vegetables needed a bit of salt, but it was still very good. The honey wine was also good. I would definitely return

The food was so good! We had three people and got the combination. We tried all the stews, the lentils, butternut squash, and other stuff. The spices were ethereal and we didn’t find a thing we disliked even though we tried 9 of the dishes! Also, I think that all of the vegetarian options were also vegan. We got a table right away without a reservation on a Friday evening. Service was attentive and the atmosphere festive as we ate in a little porch-like enclosure off the main dining area. Would definitely recommend highly!

The food is very delicious, well seasoned, plenty of vegan options. The dish presentation is beautiful, I already started eating when I pictured it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This was my first time ever at an Ethiopian restaurant so the entire experience was foreign to me. The service was speedy and polite which I appreciated, but the explanation of how things worked at an Ethiopian dinner wasn’t as good.
I really enjoyed the meats (got lamb and chicken) but the sauce weren’t my favorite (just my personal taste tho). My only real complain is the bread the serve it on gets extremely soggy quickly making it difficult to eat.
Overall a cool spot but didn’t blow my mind

Delicious food, attentive staff and it was easy to just walk in and get a table. I've been to a different Ethiopian restaurant in the city but this one is much better. Everything we ate was delicious and the sour bread was not too sour, it was perfect!

My go-to spot for Ethiopian food in NYC! The best way to do is going with a friend or friends! I went alone but wished I could try more dishes but my stomach is not as big as my eyes and my wishes!

Full tables and very busy take out indicated promising food.
It was excellent! The injera was perfect, the vegetarian selections and variety of Ethiopian dishes delicious.
We have a new Brooklyn favorite. It is not a large restaurant yet.

I absolutely love this restaurant and Ethiopian food. I used to order from here multiple times. My review has nothing to do with the food (excellent) or the service (few times I have eaten at the restaurant it's been wonderful). It's to do with delivery.
Their prices are much higher on DoorDash and when you get a combo you only get two sides vs four. When you order directly (which I am more than happy to do), it's a much better option. However, their site almost never works when processing payments, which is extremely frustrating. I would love to continue ordering delivery from here frequently, but hope they update their site!

This was just the delicious flavorful and semi-healthy meal I needed. Got the vegetarian plate for two and your get to choose 8 veggies since it offers 4 per person. Favorites were the collard greens, split pea, mushroom, cabbage and potatoes, and the spicy bean. In addition we got the doro tibbs chicken stew, but that turned out to be too much food for two. Everything was SO GOOD. Be careful eating everything with all the injera, you’ll fill up quickly, and there are no utensils by default.

The food was delicious! Besides Indian food, Ethiopian had the largest variety of vegetarian/vegan food. The variety is fantastic! The injera bread is delicious and so we're all the 8 sides put plate had. Absolutely fantastic, would come again.

The place is not that big but when it gets busy the service can be a bit slow. The prices are very reasonable. All of the stews were delicious with a lot of flavor. The spicy bean dish was excellent and the butternut squash was very good. I would not recommend the lentil dish (misir wett) and the cabbage dish (atkilt wett). Overall authentic food and nice atmosphere.

Can't wait to go again! Really nice ambiance and intimate layout. Full bar as well. Service is very good and the food is amazing. Definitely one of the best Ethiopian restaurants I've been to. My brother always swore by Ghenet and he was right on the mark. Menu has traditional Ethiopian dishes - had the Doro Wett which was incredible and very filling, clean fresh taste that will definitely have me back for more

The food here was delicious! We ordered the vegan combo for 2 and got to try almost all of the vegan options. It’s a great way to sample and know what to get next time. I liked the spicy bean and mushroom the most. The portions are also perfect for 2 people. You can also mix in meat dishes. Make sure to try the mead (honey wine). It pairs quite nicely with the food.

Yummy Ethiopian food! I always have it home made but was craving take out and it did not disappoint! Staff was friendly. Portions are big. We got the vegetarian combo for 2 and we were able to eat it for 2 separate meals. Definitely check them out.

Very very good! I'm visiting Brooklyn from Houston for the weekend seeing a friend. She brought me here for dinner, and I'm glad she did! Food was super good! She had the Ghenet combination plate, and I had the kitfo. The kitfo was ao damn good! Price was fair enough for the amount of food and quality of the flavor. Restaurant was clean. Staff was friendly. I'd say for sure give it a try if you're in the area! Definitely recommend!

Flavors and portion size were good. Service was slow, but waitress was very nice. It was full on a Monday night, though they have a back room to serve as overflow seating. Meats take quite a bit longer, so if you’re hungry and/or in a rush, go with a vegetable option. Best to do a tasting than just ordering 1 item.

great ethiopian food! went with a friend and split the veggie combo for 1 and a meat dish (siga wett) had a great time would recommend

Stopped in for a meal with friends and had an amazing meal. Everything was flavorful and delicious while the service was friendly and able to give great suggestions for the differing tastes of my friends.

The food was delicious however it didn't have the African spice and herbs that I was expecting also the honey wine is delicious I prefer the store bought brand as opposed to the homemade brand the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the restaurant was cold and I don't like to eat with my coat on

Well...I'm gonna have to find a new Ethiopian spot. In the two weeks I've known about Ghenet I've been three times and had the intention to return. The food is good. However,I do not appreciate my intelligence being insulted. Tonight, I went with my friend expecting to have a good night with good food. All was well until we paid for the food in cash with a tip. The waitress took the cash and then as we're putting on our jackets she comes back and says it's short. Wanting to avoid a dispute I just paid more. It ruined my night though. Also, last time I ordered takeout and didn't get any vegetable with my meal. I took it as a mistake and returned but I won't be back...if you want somebody to get over on you go to Ghenet.

We were craving Ethiopian Food and went there. I liked the vegetable lental wott and the cabbage, potato and carrot one. However the meat ones were not as good as the vegetable ones. It was Sunday afternoon and the place was somehow cold. Yet, the waiter was very nice to us:)

The food was absolutely great. The different flavors, spices and earthiness. This is what my life has been missing. A taste of home that I've never known.

I am by no means an adventurous eater. I like what I like. I came about this place because my fiancé had stated that she wanted to try Ethiopian cuisine in the past. Boy am I glad she did! This was amazing!!! The bread, the food, the spices, the flavor!!!! We shall be returning!

Excellent food. Have been going since they were in Manhattan. Love their combo platters.

This is by far the best Ethiopian food to be found in New York City.
