Fantastic place. Their for brunch. Signature cocktails, friendly waitstaff. Good food. Great vibe. Pricey but worth it. Pulled pork Benedict, shrimp n grits, Norwegian salmon Benedict. Pastry basket was a weak point. Three out of four pastries were great. The danish was way over baked. However, I’d definitely return.
Wonderful restaurant, love the vibe and open feel. The chicken and waffles are excellent. The chicken is really well seasoned. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Had a great time and would recommend to friends!

We reserved a table for 6 on New Years Day. Arrived at our reserved time and were seated immediately!
Our server was awesome and the brunch was amazing. Perfectly cooked poached eggs (which is tough to find in a restaurant these days), yummy shoe string fries and excellent Bloody Mary!
Owner came by the table to make sure all was good and we complimented him on a perfect meal!
Highly recommend!!
I had the seared salmon and my friend had the hangar steak. Both delicious. Food takes a little more time than I'm accustomed to, but well worth the wait.

Outstanding service. Thank you to the owner who came out to shake hands. The mac and cheese is yo DIE FOR!! Will go back as soon as possible.

Fun atmosphere, friendly staff, yummy food, great taps! We spent a great night with friends at this charming cozy pub!
Great staff (big shout out to the manager who got me a seat & a beer in under a minute!), excellent food and an absolutely fantastic beer selection.
And just enough din to have a friendly conversation on a Friday eve. perfect.
Food and drinks are great. But the food is for sure outstanding!
Excellent chicken and waffle! Bartender made several beer recommendations and they were all spot-on.
Wonderful food, great service and atmosphere.... Loved it
Visited on Saturday noon and we didn't have to wait. They only had hot coffee and cocktails. No latte or espresso related drinks.
Chicken and waffle was amazing. Chicken was well seasoned, tender inside, and crispy outside. It would have been better if the waffle was crispy and bigger.
Excellent service. We went during the week and it was fairly empty. The fried chicken and waffles were magically crispy. The shoestring fries and the garlic bread is what I would go back for repeatedly! Parking all around is meters.
Went there at noon on a Saturday and was luckly enough to get a table without reservation. The vibe was chill and relax, and the waiting staff were very friendly. One waiter was nice enough to introduce the draft beers to us in great details without being asked. Food was nicely presented, absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. Must try the Irish nitrogen red ale on tab if available, it's like Guinness but much nicer!
Absolutely love this place! From good food and drink to great service! Gets busy, so if you can make a resy. They have a brunch prefix that comes with a drink an app and an entree. Really can’t go wrong with any of the menu items. Chicken and waffle hit the spot.
They have all the best foods here under one roof! Burgers, fried chicken, chicken wings, fries and fried calamari. Perhaps adding a pizza would make it the ultimate place to eat daily.
I ordered the brisket burger, it was a tad salty but super delicious and satisfying. The fries were among the best fries I have ever had. That ugly sauce is good stuff. My girlfriend ordered the fried chicken and waffles, the chicken breast was as freaking moist as a soaked bounty wipe. All that in the best way! The waffle was my favorite waffle out of all the fried chicken and waffles I have sampled. I couldn't forgot about the fried calamari, olives, arugula, fried calamari and vinegary goodness. Most unique take on fried calamari and it definitely works. The fried chicken wings were exactly what you expect from a buffalo wing. Overall everything here was absolutely delightful, maybe a little too salty at some bites but I would definitely come back again.
Also great service with smiling faces, cant forget that!
Walked in for brunch on a nice Saturday and was seated promptly. There was a brunch prix fix if you do like a 2-course meal with an alcoholic beverage and it’s worth it IMHO. I got the white egg avocado mushrooms with goat cheese omelet (pretty filling and filled with all the right combinations, I lapped them up like a hungry puppy) and my buddy got the sausages and bread where though the sausages were a tad dry (yes I nipped one) but they were tasty with the sautéed onions and buttered toast. The sausages went great with my omelet :) I read about this place and I thought it was a Thai fusion place but it’s not really though it’s a great place to hang and have good food.
Perfect brunch spot. Nice and inventive menu with great creativity in naming and concepts! I had the smoked ugly! It's basically a classic eggs Benedict dish with marinated pulled pork instead of ham/Canadian bacon! It was a perfect combination! And the chipotle egg white omelette was music to my taste buds! Delicious and bright all around!

So our name ‘Uglyduckling’ is a play on how the original building that stood here was once called ‘the ugliest building in Brooklyn’. Seriously, it looked like a prison. But look at it now, it's incredibly charming! So it's kind of like the story of the ugly duckling that turns into a beautiful swan.
.
Uglyduckling has been here in Cobble Hill Brooklyn for quite some time and our neighborhood tends to be a completely different vibe than one typically finds in Manhattan. Around here it's fairly family oriented and the concept of a real happy hour doesn't really exist. We've embraced that reality and taken advantage of the opportunity to bring something new to the neighborhood!
.
Every Thursday evening we invite local artists to play live music. We've also started offering a limited menu for lunch. We're quite proud of the fact that we're the type of place where you can peak in during the day, have lunch, a nice glass of wine, and simply unwind.
.
We've taken great pride in differentiating ourselves here in the neighborhood by always evolving. As an example, we regularly rotate our beer selection to give people a chance to fall in love with many types of flavors instead of just being locked into one fixed selection.
.
I personally see change as fundamentally positive and I'm excited to see where it takes us next!" ~ Eugene
Awesome beers, nice menu, delicious food, great atmosphere and a very comfortable place to be! Keep it up!
We had our post wedding brunch at Uglyduckling and Paulo, the owner, was phenomenal. He is so nice and was willing to work with us to make the brunch just what we wanted. The food and the service were top notch, everyone was raving. They even printed special menus for our guests. The doughnuts are unbelievable by the way. We also came for dinner and got the brisket burger and salmon with cocktails (we just told them the types of flavors we like and they made us something delicious that wasn’t even on the menu). We didn’t have a dish there that was not wonderful, and we are both major foodies with high standards. Neighborhood gem +, worth coming in from out of the area. Highly recommend for all meals of the day!!
Great service, great food and overall good vibes. Service was super attentive. Highly recommend and will return.
The food was amazing ... It is small so make reservations especially for weekends. 2 members of my party had drinks neither were amazing ( hot cider & sangria).
Service was top notched. Very accommodating and friendly. Being new there as it was our first time the manager joked with us and made us feel very welcomed.
It is a must try if you are traveling through, new to the area or just looking for something different.
Their brunch is one of the best in Brooklyn. I always get the chicken and waffles and can never finish because the portion is yuuuge!
Atmosphere is great and it's never too crowded, even on weekends. Service is excellent. One time I was even waited on by the owner of the restaurant. That speaks dedication to me.
