Everything is perfect in here: quiet, nice atmosphere, gentle staff, and food is great.
Plus, they have a NO TIP policy which I really appreciated
Cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and outstanding food. Just note that most of the largest items on the menu are sandwiches. That wasn't very clear. But regardless, everything we ordered was very tasty. They also have a great wine selection. I think what was most impressive was the bill. Super reasonable for such high quality!
I always recommend this place to my brunch-seeking friends. It feels just like home, with oversized couches for seating and a comfortable atmosphere, but better food than you ever had at home. The owners know how to cook up the perfect eggs, and it's paired with walnut bread from Balthazar. Drool.
Awesome brunch. Inventive and delicious in a setting that really does feel like you're in someone's loft. Friendly staff and good coffee. They even have some breakfast pastries you can take to go.
Cute place for brunch. I called in advance, and rather late for brunch on Sunday. The lady said there was no wait at the time, but by the time we arrived with our party of two at 2:30pm, our wait ended up being 40+ minutes; this was also due to the fact that it was cold and we didn't want to be seated in their outdoor section.
We ended up in that section anyway because we were just tired of waiting, even with the complimentary coffee, as stellar as it was. The front part of their restaurant was reminiscent of a a living room- a few seats at the bar, two couch sections and a couple of other tables. It really did have a cozy feel to it.
After we were seated, I checked in on yelp and received free bottomless coffee with my brunch order. Great perk; I don't drink coffee on a regular basis, but I love the taste of coffee. This coffee did not disappoint. The owner even asked my guest if we came for that reason, which we did not.
We ordered the smoked salmon with goat cheese scramble, an extra side of aioli sauce for the potatoes, and some double smoked bacon. I thought the potatoes were fantastic; I'm usually the first to discard that section of my breakfast or brunch, but paired with the aioli, it became unstoppable in my book. The bacon was also worth adding; it isn't a proper meal without bacon.
The thickly cut walnut toast that accompanied the dish was a nice touch; I could have done without since I'm not a fan of walnuts so I can't be unbiased here, but my dining companion really liked it.
The one improvement needed would be the scramble part. While the eggs were cooked nicely and we received a generous heap of eggs, I'm still skeptical of the goat cheese pairing. It melts into the scramble and didn't add much to the palette. We were given extra goat cheese on the side, and though I slathered some on, I didn't taste much of a difference. Also, there were salmon bits throughout, but the salmon didn't come through because there was an imbalance of eggs to fish ratio. However, if the salmon had some more flavor, I'm sure it would have evened out. More dill would have helped as well.
I loved the aesthetic of the restaurant; on a warm, non-windy day, I would opt to sit in the backyard. Service was great; they were accommodating when we decided to move indoors again, and were gracious with all our requests. Though it started off a little rough with the wait and the 3 rude patrons who wouldn't stop staring(and talking) about us, I'd return to try a different dish and bask in the comfort of home/made.
I first heard of this place when they catered a local documentary event with 5-foot-long flatbreads. The thought of NYC-grown eggs might give one pause, but otherwise this is a beautiful yet friendly space serving up a mean brunch. Friendly, too -- didn't bat an eye when a plump tomato squirted all over their white slipcovered couch.
The potatoes are Off. The. Hook. Breads are delicious, too.
Everything here was absolutely delicious
I tried:
the eggs & truffles (5 stars... enjoyed and Mmmm'ed to every bite)
the french toast (4.5 stars...one of the best french toasts I've ever had--- next to Cheesecake factories-- yes... cheesecakes... go try it if you haven't *their creme brule'd one*)
fresh orange juice (yum)
granola (4 stars. yummy. but nothing special)
Their bread is AMAZING. potatoes with garlic. YUMMMM. Service was good too! and their decor= fabulous and contemporary.
will be back again...and again.
Had a great brunch here on a Saturday morning, there was a popup by Emma's Torch who trains refugees and victims of human trafficking in their kitchens so that they can get a job in NYC. Great idea and great food! What a great place.
Had a simple yet delicious meal in the adorable candle lit back yard. Will come back again! Flatbread with peaches and bacon was amazing, and this place is so cozy!
On the coldest day in a a decade, the last thing you want to do is stumble from place to place looking for a somewhere to eat. So make Home Made the first stop...and it will become your last stop, again and again. And again. I can't wait to go through each item on the menu. If you don't believe me go somewhere else!
