I think it’s been renamed Hunter’s grill. Had some amazing oxtails and rice and beans here. Workers were busy putting out new trays. If you’re into richly flavored, comforting stews, this is a great choice.

Smokey island grill is the only spot I know of where you can create your own plate. For West Indian cuisine, that’s huge because sometimes I don’t want to pick between oxtails, curry goat, jerk, pork, etc. with how much inflation has increased the cost of meat… I love that I can get a little of everything for a decent price in the food is always cooked well. The menu is really large also. They have jerk, fish, fried fish, all of the sides you can imagine, it’s just really good food. The place is small, but I’m not going to eat at West Indian spots. Anyway I usually get my food to go so the coziness of the space doesn’t bother me. They also have homemade juices, and baked goods which are really good. Parking is tough, since it is right on Fulton Street. But if you don’t have someone to sit in the car while you run in and grab your food, it’s definitely worth driving around and finding some parking.

I just came here today for lunch with my aunt. Let’s start with cleanliness… they ask you to use the available disposable gloves and hand sanitizer which is an A+ in my book since it’s self serve. The food was very nicely displayed and everything was fresh. I ended up getting one plate to dine in and then got two to go so my partner at home could taste too. My aunt got an extra one too. Walked in for lunch and walked out with dinner for three. I had the bbq sticky wings with collard greens, cabbage, Mac n cheese, and candied yams with marshmallow on top. Everything was yummy. The yams were my personal fav, not too sweet and just sweet enough, nice and tender. Oh but also the sticky bbq wings were my fav. They stayed nice and crispy fried with the right amount of sauce. Also I saw a couple reviews about it being bland, particularly saw a mention about collard greens but I’d like to say that as a collard green lover you gotta understand that it’s flavored for the population. Southern style is stewed with smoked meat (my personal preference) but I think these greens are Ital (vegan) so the flavor is different. Big Caribbean population in this area as well so I wouldn’t be surprised if that were the case. I liked them! Anyway… I brought home two plates - one ox tail and one jerk chicken (pic included) but I haven’t opened them yet so I can’t speak on that but my aunt got oxtail and she loved it (she don’t like nobody ox tail bc it’s always tough). She wrote a review too so if you see a lady raving about cake and ox tail you know who it is 😂 Anyway, this ain’t the place for you to bring a big group to sit down as there are only two decent size tables. There’s room for 6-8 ppl to sit. Nothing fancy but clean so we sat and ate. Very nice staff too! even gave me a new mask when I lost mine. I been here before and I’ll be back again! A very pleasant lunch worth taking the time to write a good review

This place is now called Hunter's Spice Grill... First of all, I am a serious critic when it comes to buffet and any place that sells oxtails. This place is super clean. They make sure you use the hand sanitizer and a gloves before serving yourself. The food is sooooo good and FRESH! OK! When I go into a self serve buffet, I always check out what the food looks like If it's dryed out like its been sitting for sometime. I did NOT have that experience. Food was fresh! Let me tell you... the oxtails... AMAZING... fell right off the bone as if I cooked them myself! I also had the mac and cheese... which I was skeptical about but BABYYY...That Mac and Cheese is PACKED with cheese and flavor...you can literally eat it with anything they serve and its a good combo! the yams... delish... they are just the right amount of syrupy sweet... the curry chicken ... outstanding! Needless to say my neice and I got another plate to go for later. Oh, we can't forget the cake...I tried the pineapple coconut cake... I generally dont like coconut cake or buying pre sliced cakes because the cakes arent usually fresh...but the cake looked so good I couldn't resist. The cake was amazing... sooo good and fresh! Just the right amount of sweetness... I will be going back for more. Price wise... It's a buffet so the price is based on how much food you take and obviously some things cost a little bit more. Frankly, it was worth the $30 plus dollars I spent because I loaded my plate up atr everything on it and then took one to go! 😋😁 I honestly LOVE a good black owned soul food spot where the food is BUSSIN and the place is clean. The staff is super duper friendly too!! I will be back for sure!!!

Don’t order pick up with their website. It’s an old link with the old management, the new establishment is called Hunters (like in the picture). The charge is still put through even tho it did not go to the restaurant. Go to the place and get their buffet styled food. Food was good and staff was nice to explain to us all of the confusion.

I want to start off to say this west Indian food is spot on. I gave my husband a fathers day cookout and order the honey wing. It was so good that my guest was looking for more. I would recommend this place. The customers service is excellent.

The food is on the pricier side but you can control your portions (and price) to your liking. The food is well prepared and delicious. The food stations are clean, and the staff ensures customers sanitize their hands and wear gloves.

I am from NC so this was my first time ever stepping foot inside this restaurant. I love that it is buffet style, which I've never came across a buffet Jamaican spot where I am from. But the food selections were plentiful and it tasted great. I piled mac and cheese, ox tails, plantains, beans and rice, fried chicken, curry chicken and jerk chicken into my aluminum bowl. I didn't want to leave without tasting a little bit of everything. But that isn't even everything. There are additional items to select from. This restaurant is clean and the cashier was friendly. If I am ever back in Brooklyn I will be eating here again.

My first and certainly not the last. From moment I picked up food and saw the meat falling from the oxtail bone and goat I knew it was gonna taste as good as I imagined. Clean and you have to use gloves to use serving utensils. Very affordable for the amount of food received.
