You know the difference between being satisfied with your meal and being like "Holy crap, this is the best meal I've had in a LONG time!" Well, Shade Tree is like the latter and will make you want to dial your momma to tell her how good the food is. I had the catfish bites and a cup of corn and crab bisque. The catfish bites were fried to perfection with a homemade batter. It came with some tartar that Im pretty sure was homemade as well, because, I kid you not, even the tartar was the best I have ever had. The corn and crab bisque was out of this world, and sadly, the human language doesn't have adequate words to describe the incredible flavor. Creamy, seasoned, an equal ratio of corn to crab, and truly succulent.
Chef Lonnie made a point to chat with us while we ordered and made us feel right at home. Nothing beats feeling welcome and appreciated. If you're lucky enough to visit a beautiful day like we did, you'll appreciate the beautiful outdoor seating even more. But trust me, people come here every day, even in the pouring rain!
We started with the eggplant fries with marinara - wow - they are a good size portion so we didn’t finish them so we would have room for our meals. My husband had the soft shell crab poboy - the crab was large nicely fried and there was nothing left except fries. I had the chili shrimp wrapped in a spinach wrap with Asian flavors - it was delicious. Go try it!!!! They let us bring our dogs and then Chef Lonnie came out with bacon for them.

This place was amazing....from the gorgeous trees, to the BYOB, the friendly staff, the WONDERFUL food, and the chef even came to talk to us at the end of the night! We brought blankets and the kids played all around us. Super casual and highly recommend! Hidden gem in Broussard.

❤️ this is one of the best keep secrets, nestled quaintly in Broussard serving the tastiest food in a to go plate - yes gourmet food & you throw the plate away once you have used the bread to "sop" up the last bit of yummy sauce Chef Lonnie cooks up. The atmosphere is relaxing & magical, you feel taken back in time with candles, tiki torches & gorgeous landscape. Shade Tree NEVER disappoints & the desserts are yummy too !!!
Valentine’s Day was our first trip to the Shade Tree Cafe and the whole evening was so beautiful. The atmosphere is amazing and like nothing around. We had a romantic candlelit dinner under the stars and the food was delicious. Do yourself a favor and try this place out! You won’t be disappointed!!
BEST bacon cheeseburgers! It's a hidden gem in the heart of broussard! Love the fact you can sit outside during cool autumn days!! Definitely going back!
Talk about GOOD!! Consistency is key, and this place NEVER disappoints. From the amazing outdoor seating to the friendly voices greeting you, the whole experience is worth trying and going back for more!!

I went with my friends for a birthday lunch. The food and service exceeded my expectations and the outdoor dining under a beautiful grand oak tree, well it was just fantastic!!! Truely unique dining experience! I absolutely loved it.

I have to give a special shout out to Lonnie and Eric they just blew me away catering our wedding this weekend! The food was more than perfect, I had not a worry in the world, prepared a private meal, and plates to go! If you need a caterer these are your guys, they just radiate passion for what they do. Thank you shade tree!

This is a quaint restaurant in the middle of Broussard. There is a nice sitting area under large oak tree. Food is always delicious. You can wait a little while, even if you call in an order as it is popular. I recommend checking it out. No alcohol is served but if you want to bring your bottle of wine and enjoy their yard, you can.
Absolutely the best shrimp Po Boy you've ever had! Been stopping here for years on vacation and never disappoints. Love the outdoor restaurant sitting under incredible live oaks. Thanks chef for the unique setup and inspired menus!

Great Bacon burger and Sweet potatoe fries. Juicy, well season, dripping , good. Nice place, outdoor setting, hard to find if you don't know the place. Order taking is in the back shed, sitting is outdoor under a shaded tree, hence the name of restaurant. Outdoor setting is eye pleasing. Highly recommended if you don't mind the summer heat, unless you're taking it to go.
Make sure to come with a big empty belly, you are not leaving without being stuffed!
Fantastic atmosphere. Sit outside under an oak tree and relax and enjoy your freshly prepared meal.
Delicious food. We had the philly sandwich and the crawfish etouffee special. Both were fantastic and very filling. For desert we had the brownies and the punch cake and both were great! You get a very generous portion for the price you pay.

This place is amazing. Have that family touch with a high end food. Your mouth will start watering as soon as you start to read the daily specials. The attention is outstanding, they are happy sharing their food with the customers giving an unique experience under this Majestic tree.
I had been hearing about this place for a while and I decided to give it a try. The only thing I am upset with is myself for not going sooner. Since trying it I've brought a couple of my friends there. None of us have had anything that we didn't love. It is the perfect place to grab lunch or dinner because the outside seating is absolutely beautiful. The owner as well as the staff are amazing and hospitable. I called in a late order (around 8:15) and when I went to go pick it up as I was looking inside the order window, the kitchen was immaculate and extremely clean and to me that shows not only care for the customers but also pride in his cooking. Even if I lived 30 minutes away from here, this would still be a regular spot for me!
