My family had a delicious meal at the Bombay Mahal. I highly recommend the lamb curry, tandoori chicken, tea and Lassi. I can't wait to return!

I am addicted to the Lamb curry. I have tried it hot and mild. If you like spice but, want to really taste the amazing flavors then go for the mild. Without any heat to the dish, you’re missing out. Though, too much heat takes away from this amazing dish. (It’s like swallowing fire 😂) Make sure to get plenty of Garlic Naan and chutney. If you haven’t tried those you are missing out. I am happy the husband and wife are still running their restaurant. I know one day you will have to retire but, I hope that doesn’t come for many more years.

The food was absolutely amazing, everything ordered was fresh and flavorful and came out in a timely manner. Everyone there was also incredibly nice and personable. Additionally, the decor inside was beautiful and created a very welcoming experience. I highly recommend and will definitely be telling all my friends.

Always great food and service. Flavors are exquisite. Raj and Bina continue to hold the standard very high for food quality across the spectrum of Brunswick eateries! If you are not a fan if spicy food, don't fret. Order a mild spice sauce with your dish. But if you do love spice, order a "spicy" dish with a side of mixed pickles. It will warm your palate and your heart!

It was my first time at Bombay Mahal, and they did not disappoint! The customer service was amazing, and the waiters and waitresses were so polite and pleasant to talk to. Not to mention the absolutely amazing food, and I highly recommend trying one of their “Rupee” beers! I’m not a huge fan of beer but this one definitely takes the cake. The atmosphere was pleasant and enjoyable, it was a little warm but that’s easy to look past. All in all, it was an amazing experience and the next time I am in Brunswick I’ll definitely take the opportunity to go back!

Service 5/5 From the time we stepped through the entrance, we were treated with excellent service. The young man sat us down, promptly took our order, and brought the food out quickly. I was impressed that when we ordered the daal, he even informed us that they didn’t have the black daal, only the yellow if we were ok with that, showing he has a good understanding of what’s going on in the kitchen. The owner Raj was also pleasant with refilling our water, telling us the Maine freshwater was very good, and conversing with my Indian in-laws. Food 5/5 We ordered chicken tikka masala, lamb curry, shahi korma, saag paneer, daal makhani, peshwari naan, garlic naan, mango lassi, lassi, and everything was delicious. The family said this is the best Indian food they’ve had since coming to the New England area 7 years ago. Both mother and father gave the A-OK sign. The spices were well balanced, and the paneer and meat were well cooked, it tasted authentic just like the flavors in Northern India, they were super happy. Ambience 5/5 nice Indian art on the walls in ceilings, but not overbearing, with some light Bollywood music in the background. It felt clean. The bathroom in particular was clean and artistically arranged as well. Price 5/5 The prices were reasonable for the quality of food we received, and the lunch prices made it even more pocket-friendly. We would definitely come back again!

Best Indian food we have had in Maine, and equally pleasing service! Try the Rupee beer, which was crafted with special spices and a partnership with a local brewery. The chicken Korma is always delicious.

Cute family run place, but it was very frustrating to have our meal served before the starters. We had to choose what we wanted to eat cold and nobody wants papadum after the food already came. Food was definitely more to an American palate than I'm used to, which may be more Maine's fault than the restaurant owners. Small portion size on the tandoori chicken left my kids hungry. It was delicious, but about half the size served by most Indian restaurants.

We had a wonderful experience here at Bombay Mahal. Never knew that Maine had such a good Indian restaurant. We walked in to see so many awards and newspaper mentions of them. This establishment has been in the Brunswick area for the past 30 years which itself says a lot about it. My friends are tea snobs and the tea served here made them extremely happy. The malai kofta and vegetable paratha were very delicious. We devoured their gulab jamuns that we had ordered for dessert. My friends had ordered chicken tikka as an appetizer and it didn’t even take a minute for them to polish off as soon as it was on our table. Our bill was very reasonable for the number of items ordered. I’d definitely recommend a visit here if you are in Maine and are searching for Indian food.

We had the chicken tiki masala, the lamb curry, garlic naan and a few of their drinks. The chicken was very good and rich with flavor. I think it would be something for anyone to try if they haven't had food like this before. The lamb curry was amazing and had a good fatty and savory kind of flavor. Garlic naan was delicious enough to be eaten by itself and was made better with the accompaniments and main dishes. Overall the food was amazing and the people were very friendly

Had a lovely and delicious dinner on a Friday night June '21. Five of us enjoyed pappadam, garlic naan, mixed vegetable paratha, saag paneer, chana masala, malai kofta, and dal makhani. The indoor seating was not full at the time we were there so we sat at our table for a while after we finished and talked and the wait staff were great and refilled our drinks rather than ignoring or trying to get rid of us like sometimes happens. The interior is nicely decorated and they had incense burning but not so much that it competed with the aroma of the food or gave you a headache, which also sometimes happens. Will definitely go back. Also the lassi (regular) was good.

Great place for authentic food from North India. Loved their bombay masala, veg pakoras, and garlic naan. Food was appetizing and flavourful. The waiter was very courteous and respectful. Service was quick. The ambiance was warm, and the restaurant had nice decor.

It was purely delightful! The service was excellent, the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the food....wow! My lamb biryani was piping hot, full of flavor, the right amount of spice, and a decent portion. I had the raita on the side and the Peshawari naan, which may be my new favorite food? I'm definitely going back! I could see this as an excellent takeout option as well.

As a resident of the Middle East who eats Indian food 1-2 times a week, my standards are absurdly high, so there's almost no way any restaurant in the US is going to get a 5/5, but this was surprisingly good and I have to give 4's at least for each category. One reason for that is that they took me seriously on the phone when I asked for one of the meals to be *very* hot, even when it's a dish not usually served with that much spice (Korma). It had sufficient "kick" (and you'd be surprised at often I have difficulty persuading other places to serve "Indian Hot" meals). The butter chicken was very richly flavored, and my family loved it. The recipe erred, perhaps, towards including a tad more tomato paste and less yogurt than I might use, but the overall flavor was excellent. Indeed, I'd say that all the dishes we ordered had a wonderful depth of flavor. I am used to Indian restaurants far from my home region to fall back on rather simplistic recipes that lack the complex interplay of herbs and spices that I'm used to, but this place did a far, far better job than I'd expected. Kudos. So, on the negative side? The papadum were good, but perhaps fried, rather than oven-cooked. I tend to prefer the latter as they are more crispy, but that's just my personal preference; these were fine. If I'd criticise anything overtly, it would be the size of the raita portion that we ordered as a side. It was one of those 1-inch tiny plastic containers, so that was a tad disappointing. The food was ready quickly. Although I only did take-out, they were extremely polite and efficient. It was ready in less than 20 minutes, and they quickly and happily accommodated my request for some additional fresh, green chili peppers when I arrived to pick up the order. I can't comment on the atmosphere too much. The decor was a tad on the cheesy side, but I find those slightly exaggerated Indian decorations quite amusingly enjoyable, and I did like the rich aromas of cardamom and garam masala that greeted me as I entered the restaurant. Just a hint of home. Oh, and the price worked out to about $21.50 per person, including the sides, so in submitting this review, I had to choose the "$20-30" bracket, rather than "$10-20". Perhaps Google Reviews should allow more flexibility or choice in price brackets, as "$20-30" makes it sound more expensive that it actually is. So, in summary: cool. I strongly recommend giving them a go.

i attended Bates College from 2003-2006. i would sometimes think about their lamb rogan jhosh, mango lassi, and keema naan all week until i could take off after class Friday, drive 30 minutes alone to get here, and devour their food, then order a 2nd order to go to take back to my dorm. my goodness. that they are still open some two decades hence makes me very happy. i intend to take my wife here once we move back to the northeast.
