Just damn good eats. I had occasion to be in the Burien area last evening and was hungry. A chef friend of mine had mentioned Osteria da Primo as a place I should try sometime. I am very glad that I did.

I am sure that I looked a little scruffy to the staff, as I had been working all day, but that did not deter them at all. The only thing that I took some note of is that I think they were hurrying me along somewhat.

I started with the calamari appetizer. It is the best that I have had in a long, long, time. It is even better than the calamari served at Suncoast on Alki Beach, which, until last night, was my favorite place to get it. It is served with a spicy aioli that was quite good.

I then had the ribeye steak. It was cooked to perfection. The marinade and spices were right on and did not overpower the meat. I choose the peas and prosciutto as my side and will admit to being slightly underwhelmed.

I am glad that I did not order a pasta dish. Between the appetizer and the main course I was happily stuffed. I actually asked for a doggie box! There are no issues with portion size in this restaurant!!!

I highly recommend this place. The ambiance is nice and the food well prepared. I look forward to stopping in again to try other items on the menu......clam and shrimp linguine anyone????

GLUTEN FREE REVIEW: This was the best GF meal out I've had in 5 years, and I'm visiting from Boulder where there are a lot of options! Absolutely amazing. I was expecting limited choices, but they offered most of their menu, and not just swapping out plain GF spaghetti, but more unique GF pasta as well. Had an appetizer (Antipasto plate), entree (pasta with a gorgonzola cheese & pistachio sauce), and dessert (vanilla and chocolate gelato filled with cherries and covered in a frozen chocolate shell). My husband, who does not eat GF, had a spectacular meal as well. Wonderful find!

My favorite place in the world!. Chow Down is crazy!!!! My guess this person either has no palate or just doesn't like Burien. Osteria da Primo and Grand Central Bakery are by far the best places to hang out in Burien. I have eaten in ODP many times and have never been disappointed. The ambiance is great, small, intimate and love the Italian music they play. I have many favorite dishes - but I love the Risotto balls, their calamari is the best in Seattle and Chef Carlo's red sauce - well I dream about it. Don't let Chow Down scare you off - from Osteria da Primo or from Grand Central Bakery - they both rock and have been key to revitalizing our neighborhood.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place. There is no place that makes me feel at home like this place does. Great real Italian food, no chicken fettucini alfredo, spaghetti and meatballs, or other americanized dishes here. I never know why people think all of the is Italian, IT"S NOT!

The wine list is great, packed with recommendations of things most are not familiar with but are so tasty and pair well with the food. The cocktails are great, made with fresh juice and high quality booze.

But really the food is the star of this place! Always super fresh, homemede, and delish. The pizza is the best I have had outside of Italy and the seafood dishes are amazing. It is my go to spot when I want to quiet date night place, or if I am in the mood I will just drop by myself and hang out with the regulars at the counter.

Try it, if you know food and wine you will love it.

Delicious place with friendly service!`. My husband and I love Osteria da Primo. They offer delicious food, including al Forno (rich and decadent pasta), trofi with gorgonzola and pistachio (yum), and penne with spicy italian sausage (perfect for a more tradtional dish with kick!). In addition, Carlo makes delcious protiens, including chicken, steak, and lamb. He also provides a rotating list of specials that include yummy soups, risotto, and seafood.

The wine at Osteria da Primo deserves a review on its own. Lindsay and Carlo have put together a comprehensive list of some of the best Italian wines we've tasted. Descriptions in their wine book are detailed and complete, and Lindsay always knows the perfect wine for every request.

My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner at Osteria da Primo in January 2009 and our guests reported that it was the BEST rehearsal dinner they had every been to. We had a fabulous 4-course meal, delicious wine and beer, and the privacy of the entire restaurant space. It was the perfect spot for the start to our celebration.

We love Osteria da Primo and plan to be regulars there for many years!

The Best Neighborhood Italian Restaurant. Come early to this jewel of Calabrian cooking. If you do, you are likely to meet the owner/chef, Carlo Guida. Once Carlo meets you, he will never forget you, and you will always be a part of this fantastic place. Regulars stream in: the German couple who owns the local delicatessan (best sausage in the area); the couple from Issaquah, yes, Issaquah, who love to dine here at least weekly; a local Burien family who are celebrating a daughter's visit; the Italian-American family who has a relative from Italy in town; a longtime Boeing employee who knows he will meet friends and enjoy a hearty meal; the owner of the local pub in for a chanage; the young couple sharing a romantic meal and hosts of old friends and family. They are all here because they know it is like coming home. Osteria da Primo is warm, welcoming and delicious!

Primo rocks!. We LOVE Osteria da Primo!!!
Carlo, the owner has only been in the USA for a short 10 or 11 years. He is amazing!
His creations are to die for!!
Much of his items actually come from family members in Italy. I had a wine from a small region of Italy where my family is from which I couldn't believe he actually had! Deliciouso!!!
This is Italian food done right.
Bring your appetite, this place will make you believe you just had a short visit in Southern Italy!
Bravo, Primo!!

Our favorite Spot in Burien. We love this place. The pizza is great (try the 4 cheese, unreal!) and the pastas are wonderful. Lindsay and Carlo make it their mission to make guests feel at home. They are genuinely interested in making sure you enjoy your visit.

We drive from the eastside once a week, it's our favorite Burien hangout.

Best Italian Food in Seattle. Having traveled to Italy, I have found it very hard to get really good authentic Italian quizine, let alone a restaurant that gives you the atmosphere of a family restaurant you would find on a Florentine street. Osteria has this, and this is why I keep coming back. Everything on the menu is great, the wine selection pairs perfectly, and the atmosphere is a joy. It is a great place to eat with friends who enjoy great food. You will not go wrong here.

Delish'!. Not only is the wood fired pizza amazing (Boppa!), but the pasta dishes can't be beat! My fav is the papparadelle alla gorgonzola e pisacchi, but I don't think you can go wrong. As a winery owner and wine lover, I have to add that the wine list is phenominal. I love sitting at the bar with a glass and catching up with Chef Carlo and Linsday, it's like eating with family. Thrilled to hear about the Ossobucco addition, my next trip to the west side of the state, as always, Primo will be my first stop!

BEST ITALIAN EVER!. Have you ever had authentic wood-fired Italian pizza? It's the greatest thing since sliced bread...and you'll get some of that too when you are seated. The first time I went to Primo's was shortly after they opened 3 or 4 years ago. I had lived in Florence for 6 months and was keen on finding out HOW authentic this food was. When I sat at the bar and heard the owner speaking Italian whilst making one of those yummy pizzas, I knew it would be buonissimo, and it was! The pasta is wonderful (try the fig and gorgonzola or split the four cheese gnocchi with a bottle of Aglianico). Osso Bucco is a recent selection that just melts in your mouth. For dessert, get the homemade house speciality: tiramisu. And their coffee is Cafe D'Arte, what more could I ask for?! They have gluten-free and vegetarian selections as well. Great atmosphere, service and food.

Now thats Italian!!!. "This is what I think of when I feel like Italian!!! great atmosphere and amazing true Italian food cooked by the Owner and Chef Carlo Guida. He and his wife Lindsay have created a wonderful eating experience hidden in Burien. The pizza is cooked in a wood fired oven and is a true thin crust delight! The pasta is cooked perfect evrerytime and dont even get me started on the meat and fish dishes! I have been back so many times I have tried alomost everything on the menu and I have yet to have something I did not enjoy.

They also have a wonderful Italian wine selection and beer.

Make sure to add this to your list! It is worth finding and worth coming back again!, and again!"

So far this is my favorite place in Burien to get Italian food. They have a wood fired oven which means their pizzas are spectacular and come out perfectly. They have so many options there has to be some thing on the menu for everyone. We had a bunch of dishes including the shrimp, Salad and two pizzas. And everything was pretty delicious and traveled well as we had takeout. Can’t wait to go back and try more!

Food was amazing. My husband has baked spaghetti with creamy meat sauce and it was the best ever. I had Gorgonzola with wide noodles and it was absolutely delicious and piping hot! Then we topped it off with lemon cake and yep, it was delicious. Great experience and food for such a tiny gem.

A small place you might accidentally drive by and miss it, but don't! Amazing Italian food. We sat outdoors and enjoyed the evening sun. Nothing fancy in terms of decor or presentation, but the food is excellent. The service was good but not great; I had to go find the server to order our appetizer. Overall a really nice experience and the food was great. I'll happily return again!

Reliably delicious food. Large portions and rich dishes. Courteous service. Waitress left lots of space but was quick to return with any requests. On the more expensive side, especially if you order wine or plan to order dessert (easily shareable)
