I highly recommend this food! I'm not normally in the Cabot area, but I was today and heard the Purple Onion was the place to eat. They weren't wrong! I got the bang burger and it was great! Usually I have to add heat to spicy food, but this was almost right for me. I loved the fried jalapenos and bang sauce. It went good with a touch of buffalo sauce too.

Had blackened catfish meal. Was delicious! They forgot the okra but that was delicious when it came out.

We got the boudin bites, swamp basket, and Cajun pasta, DELICIOUS!! I can’t wait to go back! For dessert there was a red velvet cookie that was amazing on the holiday menu. Our waiter Nolan was awesome and attentive as well.

Excellent food and a great value. Try the Swamp Basket! 6/22/2022 — Revisited for probably the third time. Cajun Street Tacos - probably the best tacos EVER! They had this taste of sweet and spicy. Huge catfish filet, Cole slaw, tomato/purple onion salsa. The perfect blend of seasonings. Can't wait to go back for them again and the price is very reasonable! The only down side - I had red beans and rice as a side - they were lukewarm and had no seasoning at all. Like they made beans and they made rice and just threw it together. But, I definitely recommend this place. It is excellent food and excellent service!

My son took me for mothers day and the place was packed. We were told a 30-35 minute wait but we got in much quicker, maybe because it was just us two, either way they were on the ball! Our first waitress was quick to take our drink and appetizers order. Then suddenly another waitress showed up because our 1st one was off, but again they never missed a beat. The service was great, the food was really good and the portions were large. The fried picles were awesome. I had the pulled pork and my son had the Buffalo street tacos. Everything was very tasty. I wouldn't call it very Cajun, mostly just very fried food, but no complaints otherwise and not worth deducting any stars. 10/10 recommend if your in the mood for good fried food.

Yesterday was my first time to visit the Purple Onion. I got the New Orleans pasta and the fish and chips. I also tried the fried pickles for an appetizer along with the Pearl Margarita. I really liked the fried pickles. They were thin cut with a light breading. They came hot from the fryer, and they were not too greasy. The pasta was pretty good, but the shrimp and crawfish tails were a bit overcooked. The fish and chips were perfectly cooked, and the breading was not too heavy. It really let the fish shine through. The Pearl Margarita was not served in a traditional glass, but rather what you would expect with a Long Island Ice Tea. The flavors mixed well, but I was not able to get the Grand Mariner flavor even though it was supposed to be floated on top. I also thought the portion was a bit small for a $10 drink. My server, Alex was wonderful. Definitely a 5 Star experience. She made up for anything that was a little lacking with the meal. Overall this was a very pleasant dining experience. I recommend a visit here, and I will be back.
