The food is fast and fresh. It should be, it's right on the water. They have tables out front (no view of the water) and a narrow back deck they call bar tops (you sit right over the water) that let you watch the sightseeing and fishing boats arrive back at the docks. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The one down side is they didn't serve alcohol even beer. You have to walk down to their competitors but your drink then take it back to the shack.. super odd.
The best fried shrimp I have ever had!!!! No frills with fresh seafood that is delicious! Great location on the ICW. Friendly service. We always plan a meal here when we are visiting! Oh, and don't miss the pound cake and ice cream!
The food was incredible. Mary Ann was so nice. You can sit right on the water. One of the fishing boat workers fished with our son off the dock when he got done eating. Such a fun dinner.
Maryann was our server and she gave us the best service I’ve probably ever got. She was very attentive and friendly. Food was so good we went the following night also. But Maryann wasn’t there… Service was still good.
Had the blackened tilefish and shrimp and it was amazing! Wife had scallops and they were the best. Awesome service by Mary Anne. Will definitely return soon!!
Service, flavor and Atmosphere...Top Drawer! Fried pound cake with Butter Pecan ice cream. Yum!...justsay'n Thanks Felicia
Very surprised how good the food is out of this "shack". Fresh, delicious and filling. You know its a good spot when locals come in and eat. We ended up chatting with some people who live just down the street and come here for lunch 3-4 times a week. Its decent price for fresh and delicious seafood. The crab cake basket was very good and the napper and shrimp was fantastic, the hushpuppies were delicious. I think our server was Skylar and she was very friendly and made a great recommendation.. I wouldn't hesitate to come back to try other things here.. I also like the seating and decor.. for a tiny little place with a cook shack.. its was a great experience and delicious food.
We decided to take a side trip to Calabash NC, only a few minutes away from MB, to try the fresh seafood. The restaurant is a small shack on the waterfront. Everything was freshly fried, hot and fresh. All of the seating here is outside, so it can be quite hot and your trip may also be affected by rain, so plan adequately. While everything we ordered was similar to other calabash/fish camp type restaurants, everything we ate was freshly caught, making it the best fried seafood I've had in recent memory. Overall, not a life-changing experience, but quite good if you want freshly caught seafood. Also, pay attention to the daily specials. Our waitress neglected to mention them, but the specials looked significantly more interesting than what was available on the regular menu. The key lime pie was very good, but next time I will definitely try the grilled pound cake.
Delicious seafood right off the boat. My wife had a crab cake basket and I had a fried shrimp and sea bass plate. The Calabash breading is very light and tasty. Excellent service and a beautiful day to sit outside under the umbrellas and enjoy our food by the water.
Loved this place great food. Great service. Right in the water. Pet friendly.
Don’t let the “shack” deceive you. Drive past the surrounding restaurants with two hour wait times if you want fresh (freshest I have had here) seafood that is cooked to perfection. They do not serve alcohol but for $2 per person you can BYOB. All seating is outdoors so heat and rain can impact the atmosphere. The Seafood Shack is right on the water and it is very nice to watch the boats come by.
Nice, waterfront seafood place. Casual atmosphere, picnic tables and styro plates. Food and service were both above average.
The fish was so fresh and delish. Our server Felicia was the best!! We look forward to coming back!!
Great view. Fish basket (tilefish) tasted great, but was a bit skimpy on the portion. My wife's shrimp sandwich was stuffed with shrimp and she enjoyed it.
We came here for first time ever definitely was not disappointed food was awesome Maryanne the waitress was so very friendly and polite would def recommend this place to family and friends and we will be back
Excellent fresh seafood, they even own the fishing boats! I had the grilled flounder and shrimp combo and it was delicious as always! I'm blessed that I live so close by!
Update, April 2023. Friends and I stopped in for lunch after golf. While the food was tasty, the portions were much smaller and the price went up. We felt it wasn't as good of a deal as it used to be.

I was turned on to this place by another Veteran who moved to the area.
You can go out for a fishing trip, go by for a bite to eat or take home fresh seafood and prepare it the best way you know how.
In a week's time I ended up there twice and it was a 30-45 minute drive each way for me.
Completely worth the trip!
The Shrimp was Devine...
Fresh, Sweet and Right off the Boat.
Extremely reasonable in pricing.
The first time, I ended up cleaning the shrimp by myself. Let's just say I developed a quick and healthy respect for anyone who has to clean shrimp...
Second time, paid the extra $2.00 a pound and enjoyed the experience so much more!
This trip, I didn't go out on the boat or eat their prepared food. I will be going back and will do both at some point. The guys were great to talk to. Friendly, Helpful and really enjoyed our talks.
If your in Calabash, I would Highly Recommend making this one of your stops!
