This place is amazing! Had the best time with a dear friend. I recommend this to everyone. The food is delicious. The service is so informative. The atmosphere is so relaxing and fun at the same time. We definitely want to go back for the Christmas season!
I was in Calabash this weekend and was in the mood for some caffein. We found this nice little spot nestled in the side of the road. It’s very quaint quiet and very welcoming.
If you’re in town don’t pass this place up for some pep in your steps.
Check out their handmade souvenirs and trinkets.
Holiday tea traditions with my friends. Great food, love all the teas and the apple pumpkin soup was amazing. Lovely staff and cozy atmosphere makes this a must. Make those reservations.
Imagine a hot pot of your favorite tea in your own pretty pot, a three-tier tray of gorgeous apps and delicious soup as well. It is a tiny place (with hats in the ladies room you can wear at the table). They even have a special tea and food dish for your lil princess.
My favorite tea room! My family has been coming here for a few years and it is always top tier. They have a great tea selection, the food is delicious, the decor is beautiful, the service is always very attentive, and it means a lot that they prepared a special vegetarian tea for me! I also love their beautiful decor and tableware. I always look forward to coming here and I can’t wait for my next visit.
This is must to do with girls or your daughters. We really enjoyed our time there and the tea and the scones, tea sandwiches were amazing.
The only thing that was a downer was if you have a 10 year old child they will be charged the adult price. We took our daughters and my daughter is 10 and my family members daughter is 8 and received her plate with all the fun sandwiches and treats a child would like.
And, my 10 year was a little disappointed because she had the adult food items.
My daughter did enjoy the dill sandwich, chocolate cover strawberries and blueberry Skewers. And, I gave her my portions to enjoy. I did inform my server which was very nice about the age limit that they have for their children’s plate.
And that my daughter really wanted a child plater instead of the adult plate. I really hope the owners put that into consideration going forward. Because most 10 yr olds will want a fun child plate instead of the adult plate. And, in despite of that we all had a fabulous time.
Came to the area on my birthday and had the good luck of getting in for their last seating time! They welcomed me warmly and gave me some info on what I was being served. They were sweet enough to sing me Happy Birthday and put a candle on one of the desserts! Will definitely come again. Thank you Kathy and Danette.
I went here for Christmas tea & had the best time! The food, service, & pacing of courses was just perfect. I had the tea of good tidings which was a very thoughtful blend for the holidays.
Wow!! The tea was perfect - the food delectable- the history of the owner and sis you know she makes all of her food from scratch?
That white chocolate lavender scone…. Yum! And the strawberry soup was to die for.
Loved the ambience of the Victorian tableware, china, and decor! The service was good. The food was good. However, the tea was weak and lacked taste! I am a big tea drinker and have my own tea parties. I feel the tea was either not steeped long enough or not stored in airtight containers. Very disappointed with the tea!
Oh my soul, this was such an unexpected gift! The place is full of cozy quaintness. Delicious teas. Delightful finger foods. (Scones I would fight my grandma for.) And we had the most fun picking out all the details...lemon-squeezers, tea warmers...hats and boas and frilly fans to try on for size. Such a blast. Truly lovely.
I was recently unable to keep a reservation I had made as treat for myself and family. Kathy called because we had not kept reservation. She kindly offered to pack up the order for me to pick up. The sandwiches cookies and tea was awesome! We missed the atmosphere of the tea room but will definitely be back!
My friend surprised me with a visit to the Calabash Garden Tea Room for high tea. It was lovely. The hostess was really nice and answered all our questions and made some wonderful recommendations based on our tastes. Our tea service included a picture of tea of course, a small garden salad, and then finger sandwiches, fresh scones, a bit of fruit and Madeline cookies. Plus a chocolate covered strawberry. We added a soup to ours, in my case a cold strawberry foamy soup (summer seasonal). There were so many teas to choose from, and I had trouble picking just one. I had their Tower of London tea, a black tea with dried cherries and peaches. It was so good.
They seat for teas Wednesday through Saturday at 11:30 and 1:30, and they were happy to accommodate a wheelchair. Reservations are recommended for tea seating, but you can go in during their open goes to just buy tea, tea pots, and accessories. A lovely little place and I may become a regular!
Spent a nice afternoon having tea with friends. As it happened to be St. Patrick's Day, the staff at the tearoom paid homage with some specialty items, like a ham and cabbage sandwich, a chocolate stout cupcake with Bailey's Irish cream frosting, an Irish soda bread scone that was very good, and a chocolate covered strawberry decorated with green. The tearoom has a Victorian atmosphere, all of the food was very good, and staff were friendly. They have a large selection of hats for women and children, and even a couple of jackets for the men. I was impressed with the placing of a mirror at a lower level for the younger ones. Very thoughtful. We had a 1:30 seating and felt a bit rushed as plates were being cleared as we were still savoring our food, even a good 20 minutes before closing time. I would return; it was overall a very nice experience.
Very darling tea room run by mother and daughter. My mother, sisters and I got the "Ultimate Tea" package which is the premium package and seemed to be the most popular at the tables surrounding us. All four of us chose a tea from a wide selection of herbal, green, red, white, and black teas (about 40 in all) and got an individual porcelain pot of our tea choice. The dishes, pots and cups are all mix and match which adds to the charm. Colorful water color flowers, blue willow, intricate gold leaf patterns, etc. all mingle together on the table.
While our tea brewed, we each found fancy hats (from their racks) to wear during our tea party. The tea was followed by a small salad with unique flavors. The dressing is something like a mildly sweet vinaigrette and topped with tomatoes, mandarin oranges, dried cranberries and shredded coconut.
The package also came with a three tiered platter of finger sandwiches, scones, pastries, and chocolate covered strawberries, garnished with fresh daisies and roses. My mom isn't keen on cream cheese or ham so we called ahead to request that a few of the sandwiches be prepared with neither. Many of the finger sandwiches feature cream cheese (cucumber-dill, ham salad, sweet blueberry, etc)
The waitress and owner were both very accommodating and sweet.
It may have been our first time there today, but will definitely not be our last. ~ Love Love Love!
We had a lovely relaxing lunch here. You need a reservation and please keep in mind it’s cash only (we had to run to the ATM). It was my 4 year olds very first tea and he was a fan. The child’s tea option is just perfect for little ones. He had pink lemonade and so many treats he was so excited. My mother and I loved the tea menu and we enjoyed all the treats, sandwiches, scones, soup and salad. Overall such a relaxing and enjoyable lunch and a special way to introduce my son to tea parties.
My wife and I were on vacation at the beach and happened to find this gem of a place. They served a wonderful high tea with a delightful assortment of foods, sweet and savory. The interior decor was memorable, and the staff were very kind and accommodating. It was a beautiful experience and one of the highlights of our week-long honeymoon. I would definitely recommend it to anybody in the area!
If you were not aware that the tea room was there, you wouldn't notice it from the street. The sign on the plaza is also small and easy to miss. However, I expect that most people who are looking for a fine place for tea would know about this place and wouldn't just be stumbling across it. It is a very unique experience to have tea here. Everything about it says "attention to detail". If you are the type of person who enjoys a high tea, this is your place.
